People who hate gauntlet will hate this event.

People who love gauntlet will wish that this event had more than five nodes.
  • Err, and then the first attack of the second round is Supernova, which kills Cage and AntMan and leaves IF with 500 health.

    Yeah, this is great.

My final node says it is going to be 5 waves of 145-145. I'm day 253. I have all of the 4*s at least single covered except for Thing and Antman.

145 is the average of the levels of my top 17 characters (if that matters, which would be cool to figure out).

    My top roster is 166, 166, 166, 160, 160, 156, 152, 147, 140, 140, 137, 136, 131, 131, 130, 130, 125, 125, 124, 124, 121, 120, 120, 117, 114, 114, 104.

Obviously I've done well enough (average in the top 50 in PvE, my only #1 was the Carnage redo event) that it could just be personal scaling.
  • Dude Daken with 2 x Chem reactions and one of my guys is basically dead before we have gone. I have tried Hood and Cap, Cage and IF, BP and Mags, you name it. All 166 guys. How on earth are you getting enough AP to use Antman and your other characters skills before attrition from general attacks/caltrops/chem reaction/whatever takes out your team?

I ran Loki/Mags/Pym (which is a **** team; Loki's not awful on that node but the combination is clashy), and I focused on black for Loki, denying/collecting blue for Mags and Pym, and just getting through the nodes. AP steal helps a lot - if they end the node with 11 red, you're going to suffer badly in the next node. By the end of the first node, I'd been able to cast Trickery, and a sentry world rupture ended up doing around 55x as much damage to the opposing team as to mine. icon_e_biggrin.gif I dunno, maybe I got lucky. Let me see... Let's try an even dumber team: Loki/Hood/Pym.

That did not go well, but the principle is there, you just need a slightly beefier third member. Run Loki/Pym/X, where X should probably be, let's be honest here, Patch or Thor. Because stealing all those extra strike tiles while whittling down a goon's health? Priceless.

    Yeah, this is great.

So... why wasn't he stunned? The advice on the forum was to kill the last goon in each round with an ability and then to open with a stun on the only character that can use abilities or move the board.
  • He was stunned, but I ain;t killing a high level character before the stuns wears off. His first attack was Supernova.

Will try Loki Budget, worth a shot at this point icon_e_biggrin.gif You are right about Ant's Blue, just at 70 his HP is so low that a cascade that wipes Cage's Protect tile, or a 160 xforce special (which the op is bringing) or similar and he is basically gone.

    Captain Hood might help.

AP drain + Attack Shields + Stun Shields + Twin Pistols + Intimidation to get the shields back quicker?
  • I don't have all that AP for the start of the second round. Am starting to wonder if everyone has lower levels or just somehow gets loads more AP than me on this thing icon_e_biggrin.gif

My Hood and Cap are fairly low leveled and my Cap is not ideally covered, so I'm outlevelled if I send that squad in.

I'd probably just send in the Pink Mist crew (Prof X and GSBW) if I was really having trouble.
  • Well I hit round three, and then died, so we are getting somewhere I guess icon_e_biggrin.gif

Okay, I am just *stuck* on the last level (probably because I'm running on, like, four hours sleep).

My opponent level for "Big Things One Day Come" is 137-138.

    My roster is as follows:

    Lvl 166: star.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_thor.pngicon_cyclops.png
    Lvl 150: icon_blade.pngicon_lukecage.png
    Lvl 145: icon_kamalakhan.png
    Lvl 130: icon_hulk.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_ironman.png
    Lvl 127: icon_nickfury.png
    Lvl 121: icon_ironfist.png
    Lvl 120: icon_daredevil.pngicon_deadpool.pngicon_falcon.pngicon_magneto.pngicon_rocket.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_storm.pngicon_vision.pngicon_caroldanvers.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_wolverine.png
    Lvl 114: icon_quicksilver.png
    Lvl 109: star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_thor.png
    Lvl 102: star.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_blackwidow.pngicon_ragnarok.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_daken.png
    Lvl 100: icon_beast.pngicon_blackpanther.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_captainamerica.pngicon_doctordoom.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_humantorch.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_ironman.pngicon_loki.pngicon_mystique.pngicon_sentry.pngicon_spiderman.pngicon_squirrelgirl.pngicon_hood.pngicon_punisher.pngicon_gamora.pngicon_scarletwitch.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.pngicon_wolverine.pngicon_psylocke.pngicon_shehulk.png

I have more characters but I thiink I've reached the end of the "you may possibly be useful" list. Any hints/tricks would be very much appreciated.

Well I hit round three, and then died, so we are getting somewhere I guess icon_e_biggrin.gif

I tried Hood + Cap. I randomly drew a berserker rage teamup, which came in handy with all those Purple Pym tiles.

I was doing fine until I accidentally wasted my red shield (that I thought was going to get me the kill) on a goon. So then the Goon died to my purple attack tiles and Doc Oc came in and messed up the whole board. I stunned him, but he had already downed Hood and dealt a near fatal blow to Cap and had wiped out my shield CD tiles.

Then, I wasn't prepared for him to have an Ultron swarmer with him, so he wiped what remained of my berserker rage tiles and gave himself a bunch of specials and I didn't have enough blue to stun him when my shields didn't return. Cap died quickly after that and I wasn't able to steal or destroy enough special tiles to survive with Ant.

Considering how low level and poorly covered my Cap and Hood are, I'm guessing that someone with those two decently built should be able to clear this one no problem.

My mistake (other than wasting that Red shield) might have actually been using the Berserker Rage teamup, because it didn't let me build up enough AP between rounds.
  • The issue I have is they have a lot of health. Some of these guys need three red shields to take out. So it's just a time thing really. Gradually my health erodes and I need to wipe out all of these guys before I have none left, and that requires an awful lot of AP. I am progressing though, which is something. About to run out of health packs so might need to pick it up again in the morning.

Reading more and more that people with 166 characters are facing 130's enemies. So maybe I have just been oddly stiffed on the levels as well.

I've done maybe one event in the last month, and maybe two in the last 4 months. (Not counting Ultron events, which I did all of them, but I don't know if they matter for anything or not.)

My group says it's level 55-55 and my top characters are 1x166, 4x100, and 26x94, so anything including the top 31 characters would average out to just under 100 for me. I've also got about 10x70. In fact, I only have 7 characters under level 55 (out of 55 characters). So I don't think it's an average, although obviously your roster has to play SOME kind of role. No idea.

I had good luck with Luke Cage and Falcon as Antman's partners. My enemies are level 145. I made it all the way to wave five, but losing Cage in the fourth wave did me in - without that inspired protect tile I quickly bit the big one. I also accidentally cast antman's blue twice in a row without thinking about, dealing some damage but also stopping the attack tile steal that was keeping me alive. Antman was the last one standing in wave five, and he got in a couple of good shots before going down for the count. When I get home from work I am going to give the same team a try.

Personal scaling based on roster level + how successful you have been in avoiding damage + placement in events over time?

I think all of those perfect runs through DDQ are really starting to affect my scaling. Since the start of DDQ I've either used 2Storm, 2Mags, and Hood or PX, GSBW, and SW for the final node, which means I essentially haven't taken any damage.

Lately I've been grinding with my PX combo in a lot of events, so that might also be killing my scaling.

i have 2 166s and 1 153 but i used a 140 cap and 130 hood, neither fully covered. cap at 4/5/4 and hood at 5/4/1. brute force doesn't always work. sometimes its actually a puzzle.

While I like the event and direction, i pretty much hate all of the wave based nodes. I don't know why those are popular at all. Not all that fun to have a fully healed team jumping in with 15-20 ap per color sometimes.

But on average everything is 10-20 levels above me so I'm a little on team yikes as far as trying to scalp it over and over for iso hp etc, but its the right direction for pve overall, besides wave nodes.

D3, this event is EXACTLY what people have wanted on the forums for a while.

    1. Non-Competitive PvE
    2. Difficult and engaging, I had to think about characters and how to counter some of those endurance matches!
    3. Not a grind.

I was so happy after I finished it!

For those who are having trouble:

Ask board members to help you! Give us your roster and we'll try to puzzle out a combo to help you win. It might take a few tries, a specific boost, or even a specific extra hero power, but keep trying!
i agree, except I didn't have to think and it wasn't that engaging. But, D3 actually gave us a 4* without having to maim a man/woman, so that's a start

Last node I got through with the 3* versions of Daken and Blade. You may also try Daken and Patch. If you can stay in front of Ant-Man while killing the squirmies and then get AP for his colors when only goons are out (and you've taken care of any attack tiles poking your face), you can do pretty well.

Patch/Daken may be helpful because of the healing. After you fill all the purple squares up with attack times, Berserker Rage has no downside.
