D3, this event is EXACTLY what people have wanted on the forums for a while.

1. Non-Competitive PvE
2. Difficult and engaging, I had to think about characters and how to counter some of those endurance matches!
3. Not a grind.

I was so happy after I finished it!

For those who are having trouble:

Ask board members to help you! Give us your roster and we'll try to puzzle out a combo to help you win. It might take a few tries, a specific boost, or even a specific extra hero power, but keep trying!

It was challenging. It was nic having something different. I am grateful for it.

That said, they need to manage expectations amd be clear with the players. We hear a 30-day event is coming, and we don't think it is only 5 nodes, and all done.

I hope they consider offering something similar each new release, though. Nice having even a little story.

I would give the devs praise... except for their standard silence when it comes to getting any actual information about new events.

    EDIT: except for IceIX

Right, so I need help with the final node. Literally my only playable characters are 2*s with some semi-usable 3* (which arguably aren't even good 3*s).
I have 2* Magneto, Storm, Thor, Captain Marvel and Black Widow fully levelled. The semi-usable 3*s are Beast, Falcon and Captain Marvel.

The node itself is full of level 80s for some reason, and I can't shake the idea that my scaling is iffy because I levelled 3*s - I have the same general PvE nodes as my roommate with a few 120s, which is frustrating. I just can't seem to do it. I got as far as wave three and it's totally burning me out now. Need to save health packs for the week long event.. so I'll be open to advice for a while.

(I'm stubborn and miserable that I seem to be the only one who's still stick on this silly ant-man event lol, so don't mind my tone. I have appreciative of the event in general, but damn is it stressing me out).

Edit: Ignore me. You said final node and none of this applies as you can only bring in two characters of your choosing.

What have you tried so far? In 2* land I always leaned towards Thor / Mags / Storm but you really need some kind of AP denial for the final node and this team has none of that. Windstorm is your best friend here since you can stun the one character that can move tiles each wave and really control the board. If that doesn't work you probably need AP denial and the only option you really have there is oBW. If you had 2* Daken I would say try Thor / Daken / oBW. In fact, since you have 30 days to get the cover I would advise trying to build a 355 2* Daken specifically for this and use that team.

What covers do you have for Falcon? If you have 3+ yellow, then him + antman loaner + OBW.

Get Antmans purple out quickly, then use OBW to steal and heal while ants are made and strengthened by Falc. Redwing can help take care of enemy tiles. Antman's yellow will come into play as well. Blue is for OBW, keep healed and keep CD tiles at bay. AP denial will be the key for you.

Edit: WHoops! Thought of the wrong node, sorry. Rewriting.

I would take OBW and Thor. You have all colors covered, a high HP powerful AOE, and OBW, best two star out there. The key is farming goons. Kill 2 goons, then farm the last guy as long as you can while taking as little damage as possible. OBW's blue makes this possible. You'll also heal up your guys as a benefit. Use ant man to steal any strike nodes for your use, and of course use OBW to steal AP if no strike tiles are out. Burn Thor's abilities on characters who can match. Good luck!

Hm. A good combo to try is Thor, Captain Marvel and OBW OR Mag, Storm and Marvel. Get some good team up tiles to bring to the event first. Have your guild send you some if you need them.

In the first team, the key is OBW, AOE, and easy team up spam. Make sure you down all the deadly goons, or the goons that generate AP that is bad for their team to have. Then, you're going to farm that last goon. Focus blue and pink to a, heal and increase tile counts, and b, heal your guys to full. Blow your AOE on characters, not goons, and try to take em out in one round or two.

The second team is more AOE focus, with the key being storms AOE with Marvel to back it up. You'll also get nice Team up spam. You can farm with this as well, but you take more risk in lower health and goon tiles going off.

    Good luck!

Final node you can only bring in 2, Antman loaner takes up a spot.
  • A word of advice to people trying to clear the last node: Antman loaner is deceptively awesome. Try to steal as much stuff as you can every time someone shows up with strike or shield tiles. There's a muscle goon in the 4th row; do your best not to down him before you get at least a few tiles off him. I cleared the mission with Mags/Loki/Antman (which was a terrible team for that mission - loki did a whole lot of nothing, and ant-man's best power was competing with one of my only damage powers), but if you think strategically, any team should be able to pull it off. Especially with OBW and abusing that strike tile double dip damage. icon_e_biggrin.gif

In fact, if I may, huge shoutouts to the dev team; this mission is amazing game design. Giving us a low-level, high-cover ant-man, then running us up against a gauntlet of dudes that showcase exactly how and why he's so awesome is just stellar design, massive props all around. It shows us how cool the character is, gives us an incentive to grind our butts off for him, and the free cover is always nice. icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • Hate to be a moaner but I have 15 166 guys to go up against, with a level 70 Antman as a third of my team. Caltrops alone just over time is killing my team.

This isn't fun. I mean, hurrah for a new event at last, and people with level 120 enemies or whatnot I am sure are having a great time. But quite how I am supposed to win this with two characters I have no idea.

Level 70 Antman is not weak. He is not trivial. He is the key to success. No, seriously, I had the same issue - enemies of a similar level, no high-level 4*s. The trick is to abuse the fact that almost every single wave has an enemy with some meaty tiles to snag. Be it wave one with Daken's strike tiles, wave two with Sacrifice, wave four with Threaten... Pym's blue puts in work. What characters have you been using? What does your roster look like?

This. A thousand times this. I haven't finished the event yet, but I cannot believe they actually fixed so many problems with this one event!
    - Same as 1 above, which everyone has been begging for
    - Allows just about anyone to get the new character

If they started doing this for EVERY character and lowered the max roster slot price to 500 instead of 1000, we'd have a much, much better game.

Interesting, my last node says they are level 55-55. My highest character is 166.

Dude Daken with 2 x Chem reactions and one of my guys is basically dead before we have gone. I have tried Hood and Cap, Cage and IF, BP and Mags, you name it. All 166 guys. How on earth are you getting enough AP to use Antman and your other characters skills before attrition from general attacks/caltrops/chem reaction/whatever takes out your team?

You didn't tell us your roster Herman. List it here and maybe we can help you with a team that can handle the Caltrops.

Someone in my Alliance has reported the same. That would be a rather nice team to face icon_e_biggrin.gif

I would try Cap and Cage. Boost 2 red yellow, blue purple, and all ap. Your goal is to rush Cap red and blue asap to get your chain going. Cage should provide you a nice protect tile early, use ant man to steal any strike tiles that get put out. Those blue protect tiles from cap should add up to make you nearly invincible by the end too. Good luck!
  • How can I use Blue for Cap when I use it for Ant-Man to steal all the strike tiles Daken is putting out?

And how on earth do you get him, stop the Caltrops and the Flamethrower? One Flame and Antman is down to 1k health. This is the first wave of five...

Interesting! Mine were 130-131 and my highest is 150. But I have about 20 characters 127-150. They must be taking an average.
I got killed by Doc Oct the first time, but then brought a better team. Patch/Daken/Ant-man was not good for the last node.

I mentioned this in the event thread, but this was an awesome event and every character should have the same style intro.
