  • I'm wondering if building a team NOT around him, but with him could be effevctive for PvP. He's pretty much a guaranteed skip - pair him with say IMHB and no one will want to fight you, even if for climbing you never actually use Carnage's red. I did the same thing with Sentry, even after his nerf...people don't like fighting him due to the health pack tax.

Well, the real key to sentry is that he had a super big strike tile, and world rupture double dipped on that tile for each countdown (so 16-dipped). That meant that with boosts, two matches could end just about any game (since no one had more than 11k health).

Carnage won't duplicate that, so he likely won't dominate PvP as completely as sentry did, but he could still be meta-warping for a variety of reasons.

    There's also that, yes.

(Also, red deals 9K damage to the enemy team and 4K to yours with Carnage himself totally immune, it definitely does not hurt both sides equally)

You need to think of it as a 5k nuke that also damages your team and the enemy team for 2k. 5k for 7 AP is great but the team damage really hurts, especially when its 3v2. Couple that with giving the enemy 180 worth of attack tiles and its not very appealing. If it did 20/50% less damage to allies (like Sentry red) it'd be more palatable but because its symmetric it just feels like you're helping the enemy.

    You guys are so silly.

Sentry killed opposing maxed teams in under 30 seconds. If you're comparing this to Sentry you didn't play a single game with old Sentry.

You are forgetting a part of the reason that doesn't happen with Carnage is the massive health changes instituted since the Sentry nerf. In the old game, you had X-Force and LThor as highest health characters at 10k. Most regular characters maxed out around 6-7k. Additionally, you had an extra boost you could use per type, for +2 more AP. Carnage is still not as strong as Sentry was, but if you put him back in time to the old health levels, he would still be just about as bad if not worse because of his no self-damage and no need for Hood.

Here's how a hood sentry match went.
Match green. match yellow. match black. WR, wait a turn, sacrifice+intimidate. Kill entire other team regardless of what they have done so far or will do next turn (I'm told around 42k total from WR+sacrifice alone. +~2k intimidate). Also match a ton of AP and do a ton of match damage because of the way WR resolves.
The rate at which this failed was comparable to the rate of airplane crashes. You choose a target and it will die 99% of the time.

Explain to me how Carnage does anything that's similar, because apparently I'm missing something here.

Yeah, the old Sentry nerf was because he was a God on O and superb on D.

Carnage is not a God on O, but he's superb on D.

I just realized how awful the Carnage on Carnage pvp is going to be. Even with loaners
  • Red at one cover boosted will still be at least 1k damage + 500 others. Might see a lot of Cap Marvels too.

Makes me sort of wish that they reran 4* tourneys after release, maybe as an anniversary event or something, despite how long 4* matches are.

Is that why Spiderman is the 2-100 cover for the Blade event?

It's gonna be bad depending on which loaner you use. Each node will have a different color power. Change they have made recently to PvP.

Damage you deal to your own team wont trigger her absorption anymore in R78
  • So, trying out my newly won Carnage. He creates att tiles like every turn without me having to fire a power. I think something is wrong.....

    triggering off passives?
  • I tried him in pve. Maybe he reacts to the goons cd tiles as well. I ll try again
  • Yea, that s it. His passive fires on a goon placing a cd tile. I don t think that is supposed to happen

Wow, Big Enchilada with Bullseye (or Shulk, DD) and KK! Board filled with strikes from downing enemies with Bullseye purple to remove enemy attacks...KK to heal.. you can match damage the thing to the end.
  • I got my Prof at 5 yellow. Tilefest!

Technically a goon placing a CD is firing a power. So yeah, can't wait for the Carnage, Ultron Sentry, Ultron Sentry nodes.

I think it should. Those abilities cost AP, same as if KP fired his yellow.
