Yeah, he eventually became the showrunner of Doctor Who.

I really liked Russell T. Davies. Steven Moffat succeeded him as showrunner and I don't like the "whole" he created compared to what Davies had been doing, but I did like his stories from during the time Davies was the showrunner.

Moffat's time as showrunner marked the introduction of the "silly" reoccurring bits and characters and his writers poached clumsy villains too often from the first four series. His longer story arcs were good and his one off episodes that weren't about the same old villains (rare as they were) were also well done.

When you realize Steve Rogers is into some weird stuff.

    Potentially NSFW image below.

(Does the resemblance bother anyone else?)

Before receiving his small loan of a million dollars, Donald Trump was forced to seek employment in the maggia, firing off frequent and overpowered pistol shots at unsuspecting heroes. Little did anyone know, it would be far from the most heinous act of his career.

You. You are my hero. Also, it's sad in those early days how he couldn't even afford a toupee yet, instead forced to seek out a hat that coordinated with his vest.

I was watching Jim Sterling and he mentioned Penance from Marvel...hadn't heard of him, so I looked him up. And I found this wonderful bit of...sattire?

Yeah, Speedball was introduced (with much fanfare,) back when I was collecting comics. I read the first issue and went "meh." It was a decent concept for a character, but very lackluster execution.

Years later I read up on Penance and thought, "Wow. That made a stupid character even stupider..."

This is so very, very true, though you will need to be familiar with "Watchmen" to get it...

I think it's them making fun of all those "angsty" & "emo" teens who think they're "so deep" when really they're just idiot teens.

Personally I'm not a big Punisher fan, but I respect anyone that irks the Batman Beats Everyone crowd.

No, it's actually them making fun of that particular character.

Speedball was the leader of the New Warriors, who had a TV show where they apprehended superpowered bad guys, kind of like Dog the Bounty Hunter. One of the bad guys they went to apprehend had, 'Nitro' I think, had temporarily enhanced his powers and blew up a whole suburb, including an elementary school or something. The government decided that it was the New Warriors fault and decided that all superheros needed to register and be trained. That was the 'excuse' for Civil War. The actual reason for Civil War was House of M, but well nobody could discuss that with the public. (You can read all that stuff in the Prelude to Civil War and New Avengers early episodes if you care)

Anyway Speedball had kinetic powers, so the explosion didn't kill him, just threw him some distance. It put his powers on the fritz, and apparently he could only access them when stimulated by pain. So he changed his name to Penance and had that suit made which apparently has large spikes on the inside that cut into him continually, one spike for every person who died that day...

It's far more angsty and emo than your average teen.

To make it even better apparently the guy who blew everything up was set up to cause destruction by various parties, so it wasn't like anything the New Warriors did actually caused the event. See Wolverine Civil War for that malarky.
