I'm going to blow off some steam here and rant a bit. I don't like the Sentry. I was playing the game when he was introduced, and at that time I looked the character up and read about it. Marvel's psychotic Superman. From a storyteller's perspective he's a cheap and obnoxious character - all powerful, is best buddies with the major players in the Marvel Universe, and litterally came from nowhere (narratively speaking.) If he was in fanfiction, he would totally be called a "Mary Sue." When he was introduced to the game, he became the "must have" character for everyone. So you'll understand that I find this comic page extremely satisfying. The previous page, by the way, Sentry had been giving an interview, someone from off panel said "Yo! Blondie!" and he turned and replied "Sorry, I can really only take one more."

Yeah, I never liked the Paul Jenkins stuff with him either. Clever idea at its heart - forgotten hero who was literally retconned - but the end result in those stories was a pretty insufferable character. (He's pals with the Hulk! He's the one guy Rogue can touch!) The funeral special issue after Siege is really unbearable. The Male Model Man crack in Venom Bomb as been his highlight for me in MPQ, I never used him, even before his nerf.

So I'm all for images of Sentry getting punked. Here's one of my favorites from World War Hulk:



Great issue, Sentry is slipping and thinking he's having his "hulk" moment by letting himself go. But by the end of the issue, he finds he's not man enough to walk in Bruce Banner's shoes for day.

I should note there ARE good Sentry comics though. Jeff Parker did some really fun (and funny) "silver age" stories of the character in his forgotten prime. And he worked well enough as the unstable human time bomb in Bendis' Dark Reign storyline.

Riffing on "Lois Lane," I think you're correct - "Lindy Lee must feel stupid" is probably the best sub-headline in a newspaper ever. At least in a comic.
