So Many Cheaters?!
Now that we can view people's roster, im finding so many people that have obviously cheated. They are in the same sub bracket as me in the main pve event. The lowest level guys are level 100+. The current leader has a roster of 7 and his maximum level is 20 black widow and 17 storm. Am I missing something here?! Im struggling with my level 55 patch/85 thor/ 85 OBW. And this is the sub category for pve. Im also puzzled to find people that have 1* rosters ahead of me in my bracket on army of one. What is seriously going on here? Why are these people even in my bracket and why cant i see/attack them?!!!!

Davo, the steam version has a lot of cheats and hacks out there in the internetz.
We're almost certain that some of them are cheating.0 -
I guess its easier to charge HP for everything and fleece the honest than put checks in place to catch the cheaters and lower HP costs. Looking at some peoples rosters you can make an educated guess at whether they are possibly cheating or not. Im not going to be dropping any more coins on this game until i see more being done to combat this.0

If so quite a shame on developers -- for this game it is pretty easy to make the server protocol resistant to any client-side hacking, you can play the game on your side however you like, but it will get rejected after result upload. Leaving only room for match assistant and like things or a complete AI that can play the game better than human (which could be used way better than for cheating...)0 -

The developers gave us the ability to see the rosters of other players. If you feel something is amiss...0 -

Not speaking about PVE here, but for your PVP bracket that's normal. Your mixing up 2 concepts here, matchmaking rank(MMR) and tourney brackets. Tourney brackets are determined purely by time of entry, you probably rarely interact at all with people in your bracket. MMR on the other hand is were you get your opponents from, but you're probably not in the same tourney bracket with them.
So it's very well possible that someone with a *star team only can lead your bracket, all that says is that he is better or more active than the other people in his MMR.
That doesn't mean however that there aren't cheaters out there. Just not everybody you think.0 -

They should add the recent match history too so you can see teams and timestamps to reveal fouls.
But that is not the point, showing stuff is only good to detect problems some problems or rise suspect in really blatant cases.
Th point is to prevent the cheating in the first place. What can be really hard for some games, but not this one, where game state is so tiny you can post it in 1k packet and do full replay as sure check. Rejecting 100% of games that are not reaching win through using tile matches and hero abilities, or that start from any difference from what the server knows about your account.
Same for health, rules are simple, so server knows the correct values within +-2 points so can override your hacked side or leave it but refuse to accept the result. Leaving your hacks in your sandbox, not infesting the competitive boards in any way.
Is it done? From discussions in last few weeks I have my serious doubts.0 -
It's likely you are just seeing rubberbanding taking full effect. Any new players joining their first sub event right now will get a tremendous boost to scoring due to their main score being far from top, up to ten times what players ranking high in the main event will get. It's pretty easy to get on top that way, you just need to beat a couple of missions. Not that difficult with level scaling also receiving a huge dampening due to the low main score, fights are probably in the level 10 - 25 range. Widow combined with Storm work surprisingly well under those conditions.0

That is a feasible explanation, but then reveals some fundamental brokenness in design (not something new really). if scoring and mmr-based brackets are so distinct how is it a fair competition? It resembles the rubberband effect on last few subs, when causal peolple got 1000 points for same matches you get 50. But you can at least some chance to whitewash the situation.
But in an individual tournament? You might get to few hundred on just seed teams but by the time you get on top you should have enough wins to play with all other winners and them with you. so the better team can go higher.0 -

Philosophically, they want players to compete against other players of similar skill (MMR). You're not really competing against the other people in your bracket, you're competing against those in your MMR range, and then comparing your scores vs other people in different MMR ranges. The reason why brackets are separate is because they're based on join time; you can't seed people who aren't participating, and you don't want people who joined earlier to get an unfair advantage (even though it really isn't...but that's the idea).0 -
I'm also seeing a lot of cheats on the top 10 of PvE main bracket. No way can u get 27K points (4th place atm) when ur best cover is a lv36 patch (5/3/0), the next highest cover is lv32 ares (4/4/5).0

Exactly my point! They should at least monitor the top 10..in my case it was made even more obvious because the player's name was hackerXP....seriously?0 -
Assuming you started relatively late and/or didn't do much in the sub-brackets for the PvE event, you can get a *TON* of points very easily just picking fights in the main map. I have no idea what the starting level of those matches are (lol 230s), but once you unlock the singleton hood match, if you do that twice every eight hours it's 2k + 1k points, then do a few of the easy matches for 800, 1k, 1500, those add up very quickly. Then retreat 10-20 times or however many and get your match levels down to manageable levels. I imagine you can do this with just about anything as long as you have at least one patch cover since he's so strongly buffed, yes even *s. Avoiding the sub brackets and not playing until late was (unfortunately) the key to fighting way above your weight class in this tournament.
All this cheating talk is kinda silly, but to be fair it probably stems from obfuscation and constant tournament functionality changes every single patch. People are way too quick to condemn others and don't think things through. Similarly to how anyone worth their salt in CoD has been accused of cheating thousands of times! I'm not saying there aren't cheaters, but it's clearly feasible to place highly using a similar method so you can't be sure. Until they change it for the 2nd running of course
If only I wasn't long long past the days of 230s <.<0 -

You underestimate the insanity of boosted patch good sir. At that lvl he is giving you 1.5k+ matches after dropping his green just once. easy to tko pretty much anybody. Plus if he is tanking then *shrug* not sayin ghe ISN'T cheating..just saying its not the only option. I would be more interested in how he got the patches though given that me must have won them in the sub brackets or paid for them. Catch 22 on the earning in subs....except....
THERE IS A KNOWN GLITCH that happens in this game in general where the game needs to update from a old patch and doesn't when you get on. When doing this for this event I can tell you it opens up ALL battles and they are at thier minimum lvl. Ex: that solo hood fight is lvl 36. Sometimes it fixes itself after one match sometimes it takes 30 min etc etc. This is entirely the devs fault and mist ppl won't even know its happening as there is nothing to indicate it at first glance unless you see the odd lvls or notice the old patch info (right now it allows you to use og thor/wolvie...before it swallowed og rag...so again..its something about not using the moat recent patch).0 -
I thought that was fixed?0

Happened to me 3-4 times this event already...sooo...yea no lol. I assume its pretty deep in the code as to why it does it and would require some massive overhaul to make it not happen anymore...with everything else on thier plate its probably either on the back burner or taken off the stove completely.
Noticeably when it happens the punisher event wouldn't Show up but all other events right now would.0 -
Ok they have a good patch. Still doesn't explain why they have no other good cards. Patch alone can't do it.0
-
Everyone in my top 10 in the Army of One event aside from the #1 seems to have questionable rosters that have nothing but low level characters for the most part on them.0

Any devs wanna comment?0

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding people places in this PvE event. All of those people that you think are cheaters probably aren't. And confusion comes from fact that you don't understand how scaling in this event works. While some of us fight level 230 teams people whit low level characters who just entered event have to fight against enemies that are for example level 17. If they did not touch other events and are low placed in main event they have big rubber banding and gain loads of points from simple encounters. So once again they probably aren't cheating and all of this is due to poorly designed current PvE event mechanics...0

Either way the devs are showing they are either incompetent or greedy...Either are horrible traits to have....0
