So, your contention is that this game is somehow outside the norm of ALL F2P games. Yet, you provide no substantial proof of that claim.0 -
Toxicadam wrote:Celerity wrote:Toxicadam wrote:That data is based on ALL apps, not just CoC.
So, again, how can YOU speak with such certainty about how money is spent in this game?
There is no actual data in the link you have provided. The quote "The top 10 percent of players can account for as much as 50 percent of all in-app purchase revenue." clearly is not referring to every game, since the word 'can' is used. It's referring to the ridiculously extreme cases like the ones you are presenting. If the top players only account for 50% of the income there, the percentage for a game like this where nobody is dropping $10,000 would be much more lopsided.
Edit: I just want to add that, regardless of the actual percentage, I was only trying to refute the claim that top players here are "keeping the game afloat" and that their opinions should be considered above the opinions of "freeloaders" who spend $10-20.

Thank you for the data, but it's not even remotely relevant to this game, as the top percentile is spending over $7,000. I don't even know why you're carrying on this point as if you believe there are people here who have spent that much.0 -
I'm just trying to inform you on how every single F2P model works and operates.
The max numbers are irrelevant, but the percentages of how much money the very top pays ARE relevant.
Also, you still haven't provided one shred of evidence to back up anything you are saying.
There very well could be someone that has spent 10,000 dollars on this game since it came out. When you look at some users' rosters that have mostly maxed covers/levels, you can just do some simple math on how much that would cost (buying HP and ISO) to accomplish and it's not out of the realm of possibility.0 -

The max numbers are not irrelevant, are you really that stupid? In a game where the top players spend millions of dollars, the percentages would obviously be skewed further in that direction compared to a game where the top players spend only $300-500. In a game like Clash of Clans, the upper end is higher while the lower end is lower or about the same.Toxicadam wrote:Also, you still haven't provided one shred of evidence to back up anything you are saying.
Neither have you. The difference is that I have some understanding of F2P economies and basic mathematics.0 -

Just knock down OBW or Spidey before they can get you locked up. No prob. Now I fear those matchups. The problem I have with it is the charging 100 HP for something that is bigger advantage than fifty extra levels. It really will allow the whales who will pay whatever to have free reign.
The rainbow boost was op. Just take it out. Or make it drop only.
As for the nerfs. I like that too. Thor is still a beast. He and OBW will still be on lotsbof teams. I'm keeping my wolvie too. Still the third best two star.
The changes allow the game to still progress. What were we getting out of this game if not t drops and new covers. Now with Thorverine toned down I am that much more excited about getting new covers for hulk and punisher and patches and the rest of the three stars.
Anyway. Overall I think the changes were needed, just take away boosting all together though instead of the huge advantage going to small well funded group.
100% agreed, though apparently you and me both are just suckups (and freeloaders too) for not agreeing with those that are disliking the changes...
anyway, out of interest, what are your other **-Covers that you now rate avove Wolvie? Ares and OBW?
OBW is now the best 2* IMO. Not just because of the nerfs, but also because without 6ap on start you are not guaranteed to KO her before she gets into her purple blue cycle. She's defiantly the 2* I want to avoid in PvP.
Second IMO is Thor still. People seem to think he's super needed, but I think he's just backwards now. Before you loved red and green sucked' now its reversed. The yellow is going to set off huge cascades a lot and generating green has tons of synergies with hupk gsbw' both wolvies, and of course Thor's awesome new green.
He's not the click red to win cover he was, but I think when people respec him 3/5/5 he's still beastly.0 -

Changes were announced, sure, but then a week or two goes by and we're wondering when they are coming.... and then they fell in the midst of 4 different events. Maybe a pop-up that those changes went into affect would be nice. Did they announce the change in price/cost for HP? Oh, no, they conveniently forgot to menion that. You don't care about the ever increasing cost of HP & boosts? It would seem that the current PvE was really to drain your boosts just before they implemented this increase in boosts cost. You have to be blind to not see their sneaky, underhanded attempts to raise the price for everything. Remember when the cost for HP went up (without any notice) and the feedback we got from D3 was something along the lines of "well, we wanted to see how much we can get".
Change is acceptable and necessary; but weekly changes that affect everything you put into the game over the last 90 days gets quite frustrating. When I've tried to express some concerns and issues to D3 , I was ignored and I
must have sent about 10 emails. It appears that others have had the same experience I've had. You can call it whining; but people have every right to express their displeasure.
of course you have every right to express your displeasure what I dislike is how you and others present this as if everybody or 'most' feel this way, some calling everybody who disagrees freeloaders, suckups etc. I would never claim to speak for most of the MPQ-Players, and neither should any of you. What we can do is voice our own opinions.0 -

Lol .. okay buddy. You're just throwing out random nonsense numbers that have no application to our discussion.
Yes, a few players spending 'millions of dollars' can skew the results of an average within a single game, but that's not the kind of spread of dollars or limited range of games/examples that were provided to you.
--- /// ---
Your claim is that MPQ (and it's player base) is somehow 'different' than all the other F2P games, yet have not provided any kind of argument on why that may be the case. You're framing your argument with an 'appeal to authority', but not providing any details on why that should be considered.
Tell me why it's different.0 -
This is generally a good direction for the game to be going in. I have spent plenty of money on this game, which considering my income, is a rather beastly amount. I like the fact that these changes will promote diversity in team building now, being that they are slowly but surely balancing out the unreasonably imbalanced characters.
They are also making defense more viable now with the change in costs to boosts and the one time try mechanic, so that's also a plus. It will start to make you decide between a pure offense, or something that could do some serious damage when you aren't manipulating the board yourself.
I have seen some posts on here claiming to speak for all, or saying that only freeloaders will like the changes. I have to disagree. No one has any right to speak as the voice of the entire forum goers, and anyone can like the changes, not just the f2pers. I also have to point out that the arguement/threat of a paying player leaving really will not have as adverse a consequence as some may think. For every one of those that leave that say, pay $100, for example, 10 casuals will pop up to pay 10 because they like the changes. Everything the devs have indicated they are doing is for the enjoyment of the game for the playerbase in general, not for the vocal minority in the forums.
There have been plenty of changes since it's release, and still some yet to come. Each change will make the game more in balance and there will be some people affected by that. That happens in any game. Bemoaning the loss of a preferred champion is reasonable, but it must be taken in hand with the intent of the changes as well. It's always better to step back and take an objective view of things as a whole, and not the subjective route that more often than not carries a very personal bias.0 -

As far as I'm concerned they shouldn't be looking at CoC or RoB or any other mobile game. There's a reason most of us play this game and not those. They suck. They are greedy. They do everything we hate basically. I didn't come play this game instead of those so that they can copy them and make this 1 equally horrible.
You don't compete in games like those without spending like $1000 and investing 18 hours a day. This game you could compete spending $20-100. That is out the window. Welcome to Freemium world where it's Pay2Lose. You can pay $100 on packs and end up with 0. You can pay $500 on health packs and lose because all the enemies are level a billion and whichever characters have a chance will get nerfed so rubber banders can over take you. This game has hit a roadblock of failure. Any moron off the street could come up with a better marketing plan.
Current plan: take away what the players have already had over and over and now make them pay.
Not stupid plan: when players give you money give them something for it.
Not another dime to any mobile games from me.0 -

I really don't see what's this fear of P2W. The only thing that could be considered P2W is the AP+3 all nerf, but that's just people being bad at math. If I can afford to chug down those boosts like I used to, I can just buy the cover I need. Yes that doesn't solve the first cover issue but if I have that kind of money, getting the first cover isn't going to be a serious issue for me (shields almost always work here). Besides, having AP+3 all doesn't even guaranteed a high placement in itself unless consumed in very large amounts, but then that gets back to the original point where I can just use those HP to buy a cover instead. Literally the only reason to buy those is if someone is rich and gets some perverse pleasure in seeing your rating drop and there's really nothing you could've done about that if someone is just out to get you.
To put things in prespective I can buy 36 AP+3 boosts with 1200 HP, or upgrade basically any 3* cover. Winning 36 games quickly do not guaranteed a high placement, and it's actually a decent amount of games to play even with AP+3 all boosts. I'd simply use the HP for the cover instead.0 -
@Nemek, Puritas, other long-time vets that defend the devs - sometimes playing devil's advocate is good but I feel you are all viewing the game through rose-colored glasses. Looking at your completed 3* level 141 rosters, it's easy for you preach patience and "this might actually be good for the game" - you are out of touch and don't recognize how some of these changes affect of the majority of the playerbase.
BigMao's experience provides the perfect example - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2759
He has been civil through this entire process, but the feedback he gets is delayed and cookie-cutter. This is a person that spent $100. And a Dev can't take 2 minutes to address his specific issue rather than cutting-pasting some ****? And then there's the fact that he basically was swindled - buying a product that hours later changed into a different product, with no warning (forums talking nerfing Rag does not count - what about the 95% of players that aren't on the forums?). Devs tried to do some damage control after the Rag fiasco but obviously didn't learn anything from it, considering the timing of this latest patch. Then they go and introduce Thor/Wolverine nerfs without adding re-spec first, despite entire pages worth of threads after the Rag nerf practically begging them to do it in the reverse order. And they are planning to add a skip tax without fixing matchmaking first. So much for listening to the playerbase huh?
People make mistakes. Devs make mistakes. Games with better customer service and management will come out and admit to their mistakes, sometimes offering gifts or tokens of appreciation for players' patience, although it isn't required. Better games have refund policies that guard against what happened to BigMao - this, along with re-spec, should have been implemented ages ago. It wouldn't cost them anything - they've already received the $. BigMao is the perfect example for this too. Give him back his HP, earn back his trust, and he spends more $ in the future. Do nothing, and a potential big spender just left your game.0 -

Customer service != devs.
The devs have so far delayed skip tax indefinitely, for at least 2 updates, due to negative feedback.
Not going to argue with you about a respec option because I think that should have been a core feature of the game, and certainly implemented before any major nerfs, absolutely.0 -
Respec = #1 demand since week 1.
Respec has been indefinitely on the backlog.
Instead of using their resources for a smart thing like respec, which would be a HUGE hp dump if implemented properly, they use it for silly things like UI changes and increasing costs of basic things players are accustomed to using daily.
IE , boosts and Pvp tourneys.
The single fact that it's been more than 2 weeks since it was mentioned and we don't have it yet should stand alone as a show of complete incompetence. Why would a 13/15 system EVER be released without a respec? Hello? Common sense!0 -
I'm probably somewhat biased because very few of the changes really affect me. The Rag nerf gutted my team, but I've already written a ton about how I feel about that nerf in the game. Thor/Wolv, I only use if they are boosted in an event, I never quite felt the same love for them as others do.
For the boost/lose once changes, I'm pretty fine with those too. I highly highly doubt there will be players who buy the boost constantly, so I'm at no less of a disadvantage than before. There was/is a problem in which there was very little separation between all of the different starred characters (2*, 3*, 4*) so the devs have been making a lot of changes to correct that. Both of these things directly affect that, along with buffing 'defense' to be more important - a concept that has been far too overshadowed by offense.
I do think all of those changes are better for the game, and probably should have been that way from the start.
There are certainly things to improve - this PvE event has been bad. But, IceIX has come out and said that it is not working as intended and will be fixed. Overall communication could still be a little better, the boost change would have benefitted from a heads up + explanation.
It's a tough balance between creating the game in its best form and not upsetting players. The devs are putting more faith in the long term and are focusing on that, but we'll see how costly it ends up being to the current player happiness.0 -
All these people thanking the devs must be the devs themselves or people who are cheaters. I don't know how people can thank other people who shaft them over and over. With every update i'm finding out i wasted money and time. I level up thor and wolvie and they get ****. All my maxed one star covers get 2 shotted by the nerfed covers. Ragnarok super **** in every way imaginable. Boosts now cost way more than the help they give. Ares can only go up to level 85 yet the computer has a level 230 ares. Why? The rewards for beating that level 230 aries and company are useless anyhow.
The only thing I can thank the devs for is the time i will no longer be spending on this game when newer games come out.0 -
I think all the issues boil down to the fact that they are too small/inexperienced of a team to properly manage a game like this.
Too slow to make the necessary changes that improve the user's experience and too small to properly playtest the changes they do make.
It's a shame.0 -

They could also have not released the PvE event on a friday and leave for the weekend. It may have tested well in their tiny office (compared to the playerbase), but this is an all new thing where they don't know how it will go. They need to be able to respond to something before the halfway point in the event. A lot of the issues of the PvE event could be addressed earlier.
I feel they still need to figure out what to do with the PvP. I changes weekly, and it still doesn't seem like it's a good system.
They need to straight up remove the +3 all stockpile. Even if it really isn't worth spending HP on it, they need to remove any appearance of P2W, or it'll drive away users.
They need to put in a "you're about to spend HP" warning, because it's easy to fatfinger or mispress/misclick something.
I don't doubt that this game can be great again, but currently it feels like a punch in the face.0
