Anyone else discouraged from playing?

With the doubling of the ISO cost for boosts (and HP cost), it's even even more of a difficult to play more than 2-3 matches. My characters are not high enough level to leave an un-boosted match unscathed enough to play another without healing. I can play a few matches before having to take a long break. Not only that, I now have to decide if I want to win 3 matches or try to save some ISO for 1 level every other day at this rate. This is no longer a "game" but a "play 5 minutes every 5 hours." I'm hoping the Dev's change this soon as I can no longer try to keep up with those that pay to win.

Yeah the recent changes - stealth boost nerf especially - really really hurt new and/or casual players.
To be fair, the Devs do seem like they listen on occasion - people calling for Rag nerf, people saying boosts and 3-try attacking making it too easy. But they are so heavy-handed and out-of-touch in their implementation and then have piss poor customer service on top of that. Every microtrans game has its ups and downs, but this game takes it to another level with the lack of communication. It's like the Devs live on another planet or something.0 -

Usually with F2P games, you can actually win without being SUPER invested, $$$ wise, in the game if you play long enough. But with these boost changes, I honestly don't see how that's possible for new/casual players.0 -

I'm gonna give you a +1000. That was amazing.0 -
I'm finding it very difficult to do more than 2 or 3 matches.
Not that I'm not interested anymore, but because in AOO my MMR is higher than my roster/skill level, so while I spend 5+ minutes chipping away at teams full of 120+ characters for 15 or fewer points, I'm losing 40. It's really hard to do more than 2 or 3 fights and lose points when I can just shield out the end of the tourney and finish in the top 5.
And I can't really do more than 2 or 3 fights in Thieves since enemy levels have scaled up to the point where every move threatens to take out one of my characters. I mean, I want to do more. D3 doesn't want me playing though.
Why is that?0 -
I've been logging in, fighting 1-3 battles, and logging back out again. I don't have the hero levels, the ISO, the HP or the masochistic nature needed to play much with the current system.
I think it's mostly just a case of being too heavy handed with their adjustments. A lot of the changes are a good idea, but implemented with a sledgehammer.
1) Adjusting boosts to cost more? Good idea - but doubling them was a touch far (and paying a dollar for an all-three boost is just silly).
Solution - Have the boosts at 150 ISO for the regular ones and 50 HP or 500 ISO for the all-three.
2) Enemies scaling up over the course of repeated combats? Good idea - but level 200+ is too high for a large chunk of the player base, and running baby heroes into them to get them to go back down is just...morbid.
Solution - Have enemies cap at certain levels for particular fights. Can't deny that the end battles should get high, that's in line with the theme of the game, but say in a course of 9 battle scenes you have a cap of 50/50/50/75/75/100/125/175/230 or something similar. The enemies still get "reinforced" but not as crazily. Also, to stop the hero carnage, have then atrophy back down over time (sort of "standing down" and reducing the guards after the alarm has settled).
3) "Pay to Play" tournaments such as the current avengers one cost approximately $3 to enter, but have very little in the way of rewards for most of the entrants.
Solution - ...you know, I just don't have one. I can't agree with paying to enter for the microscopic chance of coming out ahead - or breaking even.0 -
I don't know what's happening. I'm getting my **** kicked just as much as I'm winning. And I'm no pro, but I'm not shite either. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but in the meantime it's really discouraging.0

I felt discouraged already since i saw level 230 thugs and hitmans.
I always thought that i will play MPQ for at least 1 year, but given the current circumstances, not sure how long more this game going to hold up, hopefully they still have another things or features that excites me.0 -
You know what will make it fun again? If they give me the option in the next patch to play as Maggia. Imagine that. 1 Maggia Don, 1 Maggia Muscle and 1 Maggia Sniper. I would pick them any day instead of a current Patch/OBW team of same level. Maggia is that much cooler now and surprisingly stronger than the heroes.0

Discouraged?
Every opponent is level 230 for me. I lost 30 fights in a row, and they are still level 230.
Without boosts, I can beat a team of level 230 villains maybe 3 times for every loss. Used to be, I could play this game for hours. Now I can only play it as long as my luck and skill lasts.
I can't try out new strategies for fun when all the villains are are level 230.0 -
Not Discouraged in the least.
I can usually escape most battles relatively unscathed, usually 0- 2K down on each character, mind you i'm using OBW and 85 + characters. I health pack any character below 2K going into the next battle. I would use +3 blue/purple every round, but it's too expensive at 200 ISO right now, but that should be fine once ISO rewards are raised (when skip costs at 10 ISO are introduced).
I'm very liberal in using my first healthpack, just so that the cooldown for refresh starts.
I also tank all the PVE missions, usually doing that while a healthpack is on CD.0 -

+1000 to you. Seems like it's becoming more of a Pay-To-Win game like most other games out there0 -
I am quite discouraged as of late.
Initially it was a lot of fun for a F2P. After I finished with most of the prologue and shield training, I was struggling to keep up in the tournaments. So I ponied up some cash for covers and some additional slots. Why not right? I was enjoying myself at the time. Developers need some love for their efforts. But then it started getting harder and harder to keep up with the Jones'.
In my opinion, the game is becomming unplayable unless you're in the top tier of players. The shrinking progression rewards, the increased difficulty in PVE, and the (IMO) broken matchmaking doesn't make it easy to get to that level. In all my attempts to place high on boards (shields/covers/iso/health paks/now boosts) I feel like I'm essentially being hung upside down and shaken violently for whatever cash I have. And I'm ashamed of how much I've spent at this point to remain competitive (Let's just say it's more than what I'd spend on many games). I know that some people can play without dropping $ for HP, but I don't always have the time to put in.
I agree with the posts about how it's destroying the casual gamer experience and only allowing for those who can drop the cash.
It would be nice if there was a mode that catered to players to get to a point where they can stand on their own as this whole tournament thing gets fixed. Maybe a 'shield training' that didn't knock you back from progression awards. You know, primarily ISO and standard/heroic tokens. Maybe have tiered ones with level min/max so it would encourage people to develop some other characters other than the overpowered ones that will inevitably be nerfed so we get more diversity in tournaments. It would also help give casual gamers or people with injured A-squads something to do.
Just some thoughts. But I am not dropping anymore cash.0 -
I have invested more than I care to admit into this game...Probably one of the top 20 spenders....so I want to stay, all of my spending money ( play money) over last 3 months has been spent in this game, I absolutely loved it, now I can't even beat the first level in the sub mission that just started...Lost 4 times, ran out of health packs, then tried tanking 100 times, and that didn't work...So yeah, I am so discouraged right now its not even funny...I cant even do a PvP or anything else without giving up..I just am so upset...This game had so much promise...
So glad they did this before the 1st when I usually invest 2 or 3 hundred into ISO/HPs... Whew....0 -

Not to be a jerk, because I'm really not trying to come off like that, but if you're dropping $200-$300/mo into this game and you're struggling that badly, you're doing it wrong. You might want to research some new strategies. I'd spend maybe $5-10/mo and until this patch I was doing just fine. Even post patch I can hold my own, though it's rough waters out there and I'm choosing to move to a new game. Either way, good luck to you sir, you might need it!0 -
I was doing pretty damn good having invested only 7 bucks 3 months ago. And that was with only 2* chars leveled to max. I had 15 dollars total allotted to this game and was waiting for the moment to spend the rest. But now I can't see myself putting money into something I no longer know if I'll still be playing tomorrow.0
-
This game is a cruel treadmill with the devs continually pushing down on the 'increase incline/speed' buttons.
It just gets more monotonous, more difficult and stinkier the longer you try to hold on ...0 -
I don't have many great covers or high levels right now. If it's gonna be like this, it'll be uber tough to even play these episodes. Something that should be able to be played by most everyone. Gotta wait this out cause it's nuts.0

I have exactly the same sentiment.0
