    "Probably"? You think?

Great news on the token front, and the new PvP prog board changes are sweet.

You could probably go ahead and put the boost limit back to 3, though. It was said earlier that the most OP characters in the game's history have also been unbalanced in a boost free environment, and that is totally true. Therefore, designing characters to be fair shouldn't be any harder with 6 banked AP than with 4. I mean, if you're designing a 9 AP "win the game" ability but you wanted it to take 2 matches instead of 1, boosts aren't what have gone wrong. Seriously, this doesn't suddenly make Ironfist a fair and balanced character.

    Otherwise great job.

I still have a feeling there is a small degree of a hidden ranking somewhere.

    My person theroy.

The reduction of boosts will have some effect on lower teams taking on full rosters. That being said, the fact that the top 5-10% is open for sniping is going to have an interesting effect indeed. I think the goal of this is to make sure points are given to lower levels to bring them up, which in turn brings ups the base score.

    Example.

You can score 100 pts from the top players that normally you could not see, ( I think we are going to see more 40 and 50 pointers again), if the majority of the base does this, they just raised the floor. What I see happening is that the lower end are going to be brought up to points they normally weren't achieving, however I'm not sure what's going to happen to the top. Either they are going to be brought down, or nothing will really change.

I think when it all plays out top players will still be getting the 1000 progression, but won't be posting super high scores, but the lower level player will be getting higher rewards as a result and hit levels they probably werent before. Basically what Phantron said, it will be harder to build a lead, but I see the points remaining the same.

I don't know if its a consequence of the new matching, but my defensive losses in this event have been for less than 10 points. Heck, last night Moon Roach had a 0-point defensive loss and wasn't shielded. If I knew how to take a screen shot on my tablet I would have saved it for posterity.

Is it still the case that points gained by attacker = points lost by defender?

I'm too lazy to look for the link, but one of the devs said that equation only holds above 800 points. Below that there's an equation for it. So you might win 25 off someone but they only lose 20. Something like that.

The threshold varies per event too. It's obviously much higher in SHIELD simulator and much lower in Lightning Rounds. If it's harder to climb in general then you'd spend more time in a region where the effect can still be easily observed. I think once you get close to 800 it's pretty much like say someone hit you for 35 and you'd only lose 34, and from your point of view that might as well be no decrease even though it's still there.
  • After obtaining 700 points and getting gangbanged, I lost 256 points in the next couple of hours. There was roughly 2 days still to go so very early in the event, non-shielded cause I no longer care since I left my top 50 alliance. To put it in perspective, before the changes I would literally get attacked maybe 4 times on my climb to 800. I could go to sleep unshielded and only lose maybe 50-150 over the next 8 hours or so. I figured it was because it was so early in the event. I always got stuck around 800 cause there was no other people to fight, the points were so low. Now, hitting 700, I was in first and got b-slapped for the most loss I have ever had in over 12 seasons. I just shut it off and laughed. Looks like you have to start shield hopping around the high 600s maybe, seeing other players in the top 10 already shielding. Laughable. Oh well, just wanted to share my experience on this.

I started Heavy Metal unaware of the changes. However, they were very obvious and I can't say that I'm a fan. Intended or not, the new system seems to require both more time & HP from the player to do well.

    Unfortunate.

Max X-Force, Max LazyCap, and boosted IM40 at 70 points into Heavy Metal. Gradual my butt.

The more I think about it the more the +2 boost really irks me. During my grind down I did a +2 boost with Patch/Hulk and it did virtually nothing. Without picking up an extra from a 4-match you still need 3 matches to get Patch's green off. Anyone with a divisible by 3 ability ends up getting ****.

You sure softened it up, coach.

By soften they meant that they applied lube first this time.
  • I am currently at 253 pts and it's the hardest 253 pts I've ever had to get. That was in two sittings and I've been to sleep in that time. I was getting maxed 166 after the first match at 25 pts.
I have 5 maxed 3*. With the new match making, the maxed 2* team? Useless. In fact, nearly all my other 3* useless as well. If you make it harder, how can you expect me to progress on 5 characters when I have at least one character that gets downed every match? I tore through my 5 health packs in 20 minutes.

These changes all looked great - right until I entered PVP and found the wall behind the seed teams. Already have given up on the scaling grind that is PVE, I guess this means no more PVP for me either?

This is where my head is at too right now. I didn't want to enter the Thick as Thieves event, but I did it for my team. Because there's no "I" in team. icon_e_biggrin.gif I cleared the seeds in Heavy Metal and my next three nodes were 150 M40/270 xf/fury, 249 m40/166 Lthor/Daken and 249 m40/166 hulk/gsbw.

What really irks me about updates like this is the timing. Always just before a weekend, and the devs don't do weekends. In this particular case it's a loooong weekend.

We get the announcement about the change early enough, and some feedback gets responses, so far so good, but once the change is live?

We have to live with whatever's been done, and any tweaking they might need to do behind the scenes because someone used a minus instead of a plus or = instead of ==, well, that will have to wait until Tuesday, maybe Wednesday if they've got a lot of Easter activities to talk about around the water cooler.

Guys, please, please release changes at the beginning of the week, monitor feedback to the actual change, and reply and fix as necessary in a timely fashion. FFS.

The trouble is that this might be exactly how they meant for this change to perform. icon_e_sad.gif

Has there been a change to point loss? I've been hit several times for -6 and i just can't see someone wasting their time in a 6 point target, I know I wouldn't

This is straight garbage. I can't even get to 200 points in heavy metal. I didn't see a single 94 team. This is making me want to skip this entire season after only 24 hrs of trying to play this ****.

I got hit for a loss of 0, and wasn't shielded. I haven't lost more than 10 points per defeat, at least in the ones I can see in the big list of defeats while I was out.
