Granted, grind is a bigger problem, and clearly one that exists on the progression side also. Still, it at least isn't a moving target, like the competition rewards, and one I can decide not to bother with at the start.
How would you know at the start? If it's a 7 day event, and the top progression is 150k, does that really tell you anything? I think it's really hard to tell where you stand vs. reaching a high progression award level. On the other hand, I can look at ranks and know exactly how I'm doing relative to the rank award I'm shooting for.

The worst part of the structure is T50 alliance rewards. The amount of jockeying for position with mercs on the final day of the event is jaw-dropping. I witnessed an alliance fall from #15 to #51 in a matter of 3 hours at the end of the Starlord event with NO roster changes in the alliance.

The fact that this can even happen at all in the final 3 hours of a 6 day event is a problem in itself, but, I'll just stick to the point that T50 creates ridiculous pressure on commanders to drop players, bring in mercs, and do all kinds of things. The alliances that make T50 aren't the ones that start the event with the best members... the T50 alliances are the ones whose commanders do the most effective juggling within the final hours of the event.

I can attest to this. (see fancy Skynet signature). The last day of the Starlord release was the day I almost quit playing. I had to kick multiple players, fight and argue with people inside the alliance and stay awake till 3am watching our placement like a hawk with my finger on the "kick" button, ready to remove yet another alliance mate just to get us into top 50. It was absurd, and at the end of it, i felt exactly like the OP stated. We got top 50, but I don't think ANY of us felt good about it. 4* releases bring out the worst in the MPQ community, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates them.
  • I have no problem with individual rewards being a bit tighter. After all its REALLY REALLY HARD to get 4s outside of those PvEs.

But the alliance top 50 situation is straight up garbage. People are in established top100 alliances and now all hell breaks loose and they all fall apart for that event. You have to keep in mind that most people in those alliances are friends and have been playing together for months if not over a year. Forcing them to abandon their alliance and merc for somebody else is just cruel.

This might be coming too late to generate some good discussion, but would you guys feel the same way if it were the same event and rewards structure but xforce or gthor instead? I think the problem is still there and top 50 alliance is borderline ludicrous, but I think people would be more willing to put up with it for more meaningful progression into 4* land as opposed to the first couple covers of a new 4* you won't have fully covered for months.
  • Let's try to stay on topic. There will be time (and other threads) to discuss other reward structures and transitions later.

If we don't want these 4* pve reward structures to continue, we need to try and speak in unison on this topic. Any player or alliance horror stories of past examples of how this reward structure has affected the player base would be very helpful.

I don't get what the fuss is about? It is unlikely I will want to use PX even if I get 3 of his covers from this pve. He seems underwhelming and he would just occupy a slot in my roster for 1+ year before they "work" on him. If some want to grind to get him, let them. Do what I'll do. Join in the last 2-3 hours and hope for the best. At worst, you have saved precious hours of your life and still got the same rewards as you would if you had started early and quit midway after realizing you can't compete with the crazies. icon_e_biggrin.gif At best, and if you are lucky to have a bracket open a couple hours before the end (the forum is your friend here), you will get a t25 or t50 with 2-3 hours of work. Either way, you are a winner. In the meantime, I suggest you try "Ori and the Blind Forest". Awesome game and lots of fun. Great art style too.
  • 4* releases are a bit like gladiatorial arenas. There are the spectators (me in this one) who are just there. Those down in the pit fighting it out. The winners come out half dead, and the organizers walk away with all the profit.

and we would not have this problem if Movement was NOT allowed. if your score was locked into a team within 48 hours we would not have to worry about having to watch your score every second.

We are not asking for all 4* all the time, just for a new one< i think it would be to everyone's advantage to have a larger group getting one cover.

let the top rewards like they are but increase the one cover to top 150 player, make it hard to get 2 sure but it would stop the Alliance destroyer those 4 * pve have become.

I know top competitive alliances don't care about member rotation, but some of us found a way to be competitive yet fun alliances and this is bad for them

125 Upvotes, including most of the forum moderators, even the Legend® himself, Mr. Madrox. Might be time to pay attention devs...

Firethorn, the idea isn't to neg posts that offer a different perspective than your own.
  • Worked my but off last go round to get 2 starlord covers and 1 from my alliance. He still sits useless at 3 covers and level 70 on my roster.

Giving the top 150 a single cover WILL NOT ruin nor make the game TOO EASY. Just do it and save us all some headache.

130 Upvotes at the time of this post and not a red name on this thread. This is the kind of stuff that really makes me question this game. Since you guys are obviously busy making new characters, I sure hope 5* Howard the Duck is next new one. With top 20 alliance rewards, only top 3 get all 3 covers. With top 10 getting 2 . This is of course a joke but it feels like where we are headed. I would really hope one of you could take a couple minutes to respect your players and respond to something that is not a new issue.

I upvoted the OP because I support welfare and pitchforks, but it's probably for the best that the castle doors remain closed.

Let's just hope we got a ball rolling somewhere.

Add me to the list of people who are really bothered by the fact that our Community Manager has not posted even a little blurb in this thread saying he has heard the complaints and will bring them to the devs. Obviously, with the 133 (and still growing) upvotes this thread has received in just over 24 hours, there is nothing more important currently to this community.

Perhaps Mr. David [Hi-Fi] Moore hasn't seen it and we should send him a PM to let him know of its existence? icon_e_smile.gif

I did that last time and hoped the ball got rolling a month ago or more. As I am sure you know, this is not the first thread on this very topic. Would even venture to say it is not the second either.
  • Don't know what I did wrong or if I just cannot upvote yet... However, +1 to mischiefmaker.

I am one of the "56%" I've played many competitive games with tight reward structures. Players will always have something to gripe about. I do applaud D# for making improvements throughtout the past few months. However, I do agree with Op, and a previous poster. D3 has done a good job on DDQ, and other small fixes (really enjoy TU's being added automatically before each fight). Now they need to hopefully address the big picture items.

$* for the top 50. Apparently PVE now means player versus everyone. I'll sit this one out.

I'm debating if $* was a typo or just reality sinking in..

Since 4 star.png have basically become the new 3 I think a reward restructure is in order. I mean top 100 rewards really aren't that much to ask for. It would make getting at least one cover a lot easier which would draw more casual players...plus I really really like Prof X and want it to be easier to get his covers hehe
