He was a white whale of sorts when trying to save toons to my roster in the transition, I always seem to miss him in the few events he's been given, and I think I've only ever drawn him in a token once. Thus, even if I placed T10, which I eont, It'd only bring him up to 6 covers.
I'm with you. I think I've only won 2 covers for him in events and pulled a lucky few otherwise, but mine was sitting at 2/1/4 when he got vaulted, so it'll be a long time before he's relevant for me, especially since I've barely put any ISO into him.
Hear that. I have, at this point, 15 cover-maxxed characters. My LazyThor is 5/1/3. I have more covers for Beast than I do for Thor.0 -
I swear these events are based off how good you do. Play about the same amount all the times.
Last tour ended in 17th. This tour having a major hard time ranked 25th now but falling fast. The tour before that 17th came in like 225th (insane brackets and AI) the one before that top 10. ALSO i think the system cheats and knows who im using if i use someone who needs purple i never see any and tons of red. If i need Red no reds but plenty of purple L OL0 -

This is why I'm thinking Luke Cage will be God tier for PvEs like this. Worst part about defense tiles currently is that you usually have to gain AP to use them, and Luke forgoes that while still packing some offensive punch (unlike Spiderman). Even more so for survival nodes.
I imagine a team like Luke Cage/Falcon and Magneto or Cap will be pretty fun to use while hardly losing health to most nodes.0 -

once again the game becomes Pay to win. whats the fun in that.0 -
The Hunt seems a particularly poor choice of event to trial 8hr refresh times for a number of reasons previously stated. I can't say my opinion of longer refresh times is as balanced as it could be, but I'm already finding it is nerfing my usual PvE strategy.
My PvE strategy if anyone is interested is to:
- triple grind essential nodes only,
- refresh and repeat until the last 2-3hrs of the sub,
- and then grind every node as hard as you can.
If I'm strict with this method top 10 is easily achievable, and if I'm not so invested in the event or real life catches up, I can easily make top 100 with casual play. This suits me as I work for a living/have a family to attend to, and I can play in short bursts and get a break every 8 hrs or so. I also have a diverse roster so almost all essential nodes are playable to me.
As you can guess triple grinding with an 8hr refresh rate per node becomes an inefficient and redundant method. Completing one round of all nodes every 8hrs until the last 2 hrs is an alternative but not a very appealing one.
- First, you have no way to rein in scaling.
- Secondly, doing a round of all nodes potentially takes a longer time (especially in something like The Hunt)
- Third, as hinted at in a previous post, the last 2hrs of a sub will become even more of a feeding frenzy than normal and favours those who are better able to manage/buy health packs and able to grind everything down as close to 1 as possible.
I'm lucky in only needing 1 Cover to complete my 3/5/5 LThor, so I'm only in this event to make top 150 and the progression awards. Hopefully this will give me a chance to play around with different strategies to see if there is anything more optimal. I would love to know what other strategies people are using with this so feel free to spread the love!0 -

ITS SUPER SKRULL!!!!!
I'm tempted to try this...at least the triple-essential part
Edit: Well I'm 3 rewards away from the Squirrel Girl cover 2 days into the event so I'm definitely doing this in the future, lol.0 -
20 k before savage land opens the AI is so hard Sniper hits for 5k and cast it every 2 rounds good luck getting past it unless your very lucky . hopefully so many people will stop playing this it will make the people who made this game learn something but doubt it cause they dont give a damn about the common player just the idoit who keeps pushing real cash into this ****0

Just to play devil's advocate here, let's all keep in mind what allows us to play this "free" game hours on end. It's people putting money into it. This is a business with the sole purpose of providing a game that will turn a profit. Do the people who spend money have an advantage? Of course they do. That's kind of the point. If someone wants to dump cash in the game, thank you very much as far as I'm concerned. I like building up slowly personally. If I maxed out my characters and won every event in the first few months I'd most likely quit playing. That being said, I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't admit to dropping some money for extra roster spots when I started. Money well spent considering how much time I spend on this freaking game.0

By the way, there is a solid argument to be made for grinding down your nodes way before the end of each sub (I'm talking like 10hrs) if community scaling is getting too crazy near the end.0
-
Looking at the rate scores are moving in my bracket, trying to triple clear the hard nodes or even the essentials on a high scaling sub is pretty much crazy talk. With this format there really isn't any strategy for any sufficiently hard scaling bracket, because whoever cleared more will almost always win regardless of timing issues. There just isn't enough trickery you can do to make up even a guy who managed to clear say an extra 4th stack on an essential compared to you. Sure, there's a very small advantage to clear them late, but community scaling is likely to smack you very hard if you're trying to clear at the last minute. Right now I'm just clearing the highest point nodes whenever I have health pack, while still needing to save some for the next sub that's about to start.
I'm thinking it might be a viable strategy to just use AP+3 all fights on every non trivial node in the last 8 hours, though it's probably only worth doing if the reward is 4 4*s because you could just save the HP and buy the cover instead. Then again, it could be the PvE equivalent of the guys who hit 6000 in PvP. A compromise would be to use iso 8 boosts on every fight, which is what I've been doing because there just isn't enough room for error for the number of times you got to clear these nodes.0 -
... that moment when your soul shrivels when you realise you have to play the Florida sub again...
The cascades in this game are so horribly biased towards the AI. Almost every Godlike/Thunderclap/3/4/5 match/board shake generates cascades for the AI from tiles that come down offboard. It seldom happens when i use the Godlike/juggernaut crash/board shake team ups/abilities.
It's happening too often to be random or 'fair'. I can't help but think the Devs have given the AI that advantage.

Hi guys, first post, had to say something. This event is... God awful. I'm doing fine in it but it's just beyond me how they mess up everything. The scaling, the same battles over and over, the respawn time for full points. And my personal favourite... Ragnarok and his godlike power//thunderclap EVERYTURN, let alone the 2/3 crit tiles that just end up after he uses them. How is that a thing? Oh right a 10ap move costs 5. Yeah that's scaling alright.0

It does work out in favor of the AI because they start out with a huge level advantage on you. The same tactic works quite well when you use Juggernaut in Balance of Power since he essentially has a level advantage on everyone else in that event (his stats is no way intended to be balanced against equal level opponents). They only have to get their board shake move to connect once to win when they have such a huge advantage to begin with, while yours isn't going to do much to them because you're fighting at a huge deficit.0 -
Based on Alaska it seems like scaling is nowhere enough to keep the lower level guys from dominating this event, though Alaska tends to be the lowest scaling sub out of all 3.
Another thing that just occured to me is that if you're running with a bunch of level 90-100 guys, then your guys heal to full in roughly half the time compared to 3* and 1/3 the time compared to a 4*, which matters a lot on this new refresh system since it's all about squeezeing an extra clear somewhere. So even if scaling is totally fair, e.g. level 100 fight 100 and level 270 fight level 270, there's still a rather significant advantage in that the lower level guy regens health way faster as a portion of their total HP.
I'm really at a loss as to what they're trying to achieve with the scaling. I guess you can say it's kind of bad if the best rosters always win in PvE but to make the winner fairly arbitary is better? Is it wrong to expect having a stronger roster to be an advantage? I guess they try to have different kinds of scaling and Savage Land will probably favor the higher roster again, but why should any event favors the guy with the weaker roster? That's inherently anti-progress. I don't mind if they've an event where the weaker roster guy is not at a disadvantage, but they shouldn't have an advantage for their weaker roster.0 -
So I had this crazy thing happen during one of my Ragnarok nodes an hour or so ago...he cast Godlike Power and BOOM...NO cascades!
I know what you're thinking, but I swear it happened!
Of course the next turn he cast it again...I'm pretty sure the cascades are still falling.....0 -

Is not sniper rifle the one that basically auto cast? If the team does not move the board you wait until the last possible moment to match it or you take the hit from detonate - which tends not to one shot tanks - which also clears it. I am also sitting at 20K from doing the first two subs - and so little in Florida I even saw the rubber band in the final 30 minutes. Going to just do one clear of Savage lands at the end to see where that gets me in the sub and probably do another top 50 in Florida and call it a day. Currently I just messing around with mainly 2* teams just to see how far I can get.0 -

There's an ability called Deadly Shot and another called Sniper Rifle (one from HAMMER, another from Maggia). Sniper Rifle is your standard big damage on one target that consumes AP like normal and more than one can be on the board if the AI has enough AP. Deadly Shot costs 0 AP but there can only be one Deadly Shot tile on the board at any given time so you should try to avoid matching if possible until the last turn.
I think I'm going to try to push for #2 one more time tomorrow and if it doesn't work I'll just cut back on my playing since there's only 50 HP on the subs. Looking at the rate people in my bracket is climbing I don't think there's any way I can match the guys with an entire roster of level 100s. They're simply finishing every fight much faster than I can because of scaling.0 -

I tried to think it was random but sometimes the AI make moves that dont make sense (like grabbing TU tiles instead of stronger colour AP tiles) and then the cascades happen and the tiles that drop from outside the board matches with the tiles that were previously on the board. And it tends to form match 4 or 5s quite often. Or it happens to fall neatly to match away your CD tile/special tile. Maybe it's as you said that i'm only noticing the bad stuff. But it really does happen a lot more than it happens to me. I think the AI is evolving... Like Skynet...rbdragon wrote:So I had this crazy thing happen during one of my Ragnarok nodes an hour or so ago...he cast Godlike Power and BOOM...NO cascades!
