The 6000ish sniper shot (Moonstone Bullseye II - Savage) that gets placed after one turn is absolutely ridiculous, not to mention the board was scattered so much that I could not pull off any counter attack on 5000+ health sniper.
Moonstone levels are the bane of my existence!0 -

Edit: Well I'm 3 rewards away from the Squirrel Girl cover 2 days into the event so I'm definitely doing this in the future, lol.
lol! Loving the gif! Marvel vs capcom 3?
Glad the method is working for you but I'm still not sure it is the most efficient one for such a long refresh time. I've got a potential strategy in mind that I'm going to try out on the second round of Alaska since it's the weekend coming up.0 -

When they get even a small cascade and get 6 green, 6 red, 5 blue or 4-7 purple, you end up with Rags using Red, generating green, Using Green, generating red and green matches, chemical reaction, gravity warp (wrap?), then stun by venom, {your turn... do nothing because you're stunned} ... repeat. It feels like an endless cascade but it's more a result of the AI being allowed to spam their low cost, high damage attacks. The cost of their attacks should scale relative to the damage that they produce.
I got SG's yellow cover last night from progression, even with 1 cover, it's very useful with this spam happy crew. I used it a couple of times in one fight and it did a lot to nullify much of the spam damage from Rags, softened chemical reaction a bit, but not much.
Remember to use it LAST (because it ends your turn) AND switch over to a fresh enemy with greater than 80% health before using it to get the higher strength protect tiles!
duh, Why do you think Doc Ock isn't invited to the "villain on every node" party?SuperSkrull wrote:raisinbman wrote:ITS SUPER SKRULL!!!!!

yep it's MVC3. The method makes alot of sense so I can be at least top 400 and not worry about placement. It also alleviates my stress about the tinykittyfest Florida is0 -

Anyone with 4 pages of heroes has at least 42 heroes. This is pretty consistent profile for the top PvE event for events like this. This isn't some kind of accident and anyone with 40 heroes isn't some kind of transition guy unless transition guy normally has enough HP to buy 40 roster slots.
These aren't some random 2/3/3 at level 94 either. They're generally max covered 3* and sometimes 4* at a very low level, and it has to be like that because scaling isn't so trivial that you can expect to run a 3/3/3 3* and get anywhere and there is a limitation to how far the 2*s can get you without the 3* powerhouses.
I'm one of the guys in your list and I consider myself a transition guy even though I have at the moment 46 slots. I am on Day 106 and have not purchased any HP, but when you are a top scorer in a top alliance, you earn enough HP to buy a slot every event. The Hunt for example would give you 50 HP x 6 Subs + 100 HP for overall individual + 250 HP for alliance = 650 total HP.
I don't deny that having a lot of characters at a similar level is advantageous, but I'm sure plenty of us are clearing most of the nodes with just one or two good teams. My three best 3-star characters are 10 (5 yellow LazyCap), 9 (3/3/3 Blade), and 9 covers (5 blue Falcon), and the rest have too few covers that I rather use maxed 2-stars instead. I've fought for top 2 almost every event, starting with nothing but 1-star characters and some low covered 2-stars. I had just recently hit the top score in the top 10 alliances, and I personally think that effort is still the single most important thing when it comes to winning PvE.
Props to all of you out there with alarm clocks ringing in the middle of the night, taking well-timed bathroom breaks during the day at work, and kicking **** in PvE.0 -

Effort obviously trumps everything else but if your only need 5 major moves instead of 6 major moves that adds up to a significant edge over time. Even if both players are never in danger of losing, the guy needing one less move to win obviously has a significant speed advantage. The 2*'s +40 levels also makes a bigger impact than the 3*'s +30 levels in terms of raw power, and the +90 level to 3* only matter if that's already a powerful guy. If it's say, Squirrel Girl who nobody is going to have at a high level, it's more advantageous to a lower roster because at least she can tank (and as long as Storm/OBW is around there's always value in having anyone else but them tank) as opposed to just hide in the back for the entire match. It's not a coincidence that the strong roster player always cleaned up in Simulator Hard, an event that should easily scale to level 500 but obviously cannot, because that's the only event where scaling reliably is on the side of the stronger roster.0 -
I really like this event, the 8 hour breaks are great. However, I wonder if they didn't scale the progression rewards right?
I have a transition roster, and I am only doing four repeatable Florida nodes and four repeatable Savage nodes (one essential in each, I believe): I do all the essentials in Alaska. This feeble amount has put me top 100 in every sub and in the main as well. I hit progression mid-afternoon today, the 23rd. I hit "every" refresh with those few nodes (maybe 8 in all so far?) - but not ideally, so some were not at full points.
Don't get me wrong - I like hitting progression quickly, and grinding it 8-9 times instead of 20+ to get there is fantastic. But I'm doing so few nodes and have lots of time left - in an ideal world I'd love to see "best" progression at this point, but many more small ones afterwards to keep motivation up.
I've always found The Hunt to scale up to high, this time is worse than usual on it. Maybe it's the scaling maybe it's rewards that aren't wanted. I may just stop here - I don't need Thor Red, but could use either of the other colors and won't be able to get them with crazy scaling making half the nodes impossible.0 -

I am not seeing crazy scaling. In fact I think my nodes in the second round of subs is lower than the first. (Cannot say for sure as I am not trying in this event. I am just basically doing the last 1 hour of each sub now, which did not quite get me to top 50 in savage land but was WAY closer than I thought I would get.)0 -

fmftint wrote:Your scaling is harder because of the large level gaps in your roster. 200, 140, 127... When everything is scaled off your single biggest character the rest of your roster becomes AI fodder
Just took the XF to 200 two weeks ago and the others to 140 this week - had everyone sitting at 127 but the PVE scaling in the last three or so had made even leveling nearly pointless.
Before I took one to 200 I listed to other team-mates who recently brought characters to 200+ and didn't find their PVE events scale up much, if anything. They all did have some 166's, so it isn't so much of a gap.
One reason the Hunt scales poorly is when you scale up Venom (Or Juggs) they get crazy. Nice they tried to knock back the 1*'s a bit, but then if they are going to throw in Ares and Daken (the two best 2*'s) and scale them beyond their typical levels - things get rough.0 -
Just checking on the status of the Alaska sub.
Is it supposed to be open or closed now? I can't access this sub at all. My Florida sub says 23h 27m (under attack) and Savage sub says 11h 27m (base secure). There is no timer on Alaska at all.0 -
Common theme in my Top 10, is that all but 1 can use the Lazy Thor covers. I think there is only 1 166 roster, but that's likely because, why would they grind a PVE for T10, if they can't use the covers? Fury is still my highest at 156, followed by a 147 softcapped X-force. I planned to have these 2 as my PVP team, and planned to level them together. Raised up Fury, then found out I had hit X-Force's softcap for a 2/2/3 build. I abandoned this plan because Fury is too squishy, tanks too many colors, my X-Force isn't viable, and even 2 star teams were beating me in PVP. I softcapped my 0/1/4 Dino at 131 in hopes of him being a deterrent (high health, cheap purple, time consuming animation). Leveling my Patch and Hulk, both at 122 now for PVP. Other than that, most of my 3*s are at 104, a number I stopped at because I had softcapped my first 3* there before I realized that there was no point to doing so. Then brought all the others up there, for conformity. All my 2* are maxed at 94.
I am finding that the scaling in Florida is going up. Normally there are 3 easy nodes that I can do with ease, but even though they are marked Easy, they're level 100+. I didn't even do the Ares node, despite it being worth 600 points because I wiped.
I wasn't planning on going for T2, but my bracket is letting me run away with the lead. I think I am one of the few in my bracket that is doing a lot of grinding at the end of the subs. I have finished T2 in all the subs so far, and that has not been the trend in the past PVEs. I am not even grinding the harder nodes down, because I find wiping to be very demoralizing.
I think bracket placement / competition within bracket is the most important factor in placing high. If you get lucky in a lowkey bracket, your effort will get you a lot further than in a hardcore bracket. My effort that is getting me T2 in mine, might not get me T10. Glad that the reward is a Thor 4 red, because I can use it. I might even have a viable Thor before I get a viable Xforce. If a Fury cover was the prize (mine is now 5/5/3), I'd probably stop now, and just do enough to maintain a T10 placement.0 -

If you're in slice 1, the Alaska sub is finished now. Each sub is run twice. Enjoy these 12 hrs where you only have Florida, 12 hrs of overlap, then 12 hrs of Savage Land only.0 -

Hey Luke, seems we're in the same bracket. I'm the schmuck that doesn't need 3* Thor in top ten. I lucked into it as a fresh bracket (15th entry craziness). Just going for HP in this event through subs. So it's hard to stay out of top given when I entered. I'd actually want to give my Thor yellow spot to someone who could use it since I'm taking it super easy with barely playing essentials and grinding some at the end to ensure top ten.
Didn't have the heart to grind for top placement even with 4hor on the line. And yes, my roster is built for pve with light PvP duties for top 25 when needed. Max level 135s across the board.Still trying to figure out the right level xf to go with that. Finally got his last black. Now need 3 green to finish.0 -

Don't blame you at all for T10 despite not needing the covers. You need/want the HP and you're putting in enough work to get it. I'm F2P too, so I love getting the HP. If 11th place needed the covers bad enough, they could play harder.
I made the mistake a few PVEs ago, when I tried desparately hard to let #3 take #2, so they could get an X-Force yellow, I would eventually toss in a re-spec anyway. I think I lost out on 4 subs worth of max HP. Might've been Thick as Thieves. Looking back, I kinda wish I had just gotten the 4th X-Force yellow because I'd been able to keep leveling him. But then again, that would've allowed me to keep leveling him and Fury, which I probably would've regretted.0 -
LOL @ anyone complaining about Low Level Rosters having an unfair advantage in PVE. You do realize this is the only game function low level players can actually play, let alone use to actually progress?
Low level players cannot do PVP. Cannot do LR. Their only hope is to play every 3 hours + grinding end of subs + waking up at stupid hours to grind even more. You think that is fun? You think it's fun when you can't even build a 3*? You think it's fun winning f'ing Squirrel Girl when you really need Ldaken, BP, Patch, etc?
Then, if they do end up winning the PVE...they (recently) get a new char they can't even max out. If they do have the ISO & covers to max, they still can't because then they will scale themselves out of PVE...THE ONLY THING THEY CAN PLAY.
Don't get mad at Alliances comprised of low lvl players winning PVE when it's the Game and the Devs that continue to ignore the real issues while releasing new chars.
Thank god I read Polarity's noob guy from day 1 and didn't scale myself out of this game from the get go. Having a low level 4thor is awesome in PVE.0 -
Switchman is right, apparently I've screwed myself by *GASP!" actually PLAYING THIS GAME! Imagine that... a game that penalizes you for playing. You know why they do that? To make you SPEND MORE MONEY. Screw that, I'm not giving these fu...friendly developers any further financial support.0
