Shields currently say "no cooldown timer" or something like that. When they're ready, they'll flip a switch and it will display a timer before you buy.

Let me rephrase my question. When do they intend to flip the switch? I've already started climbing and shielding and don't want the switch to be flipped mid-event. If that happens, I may suddenly be forced to buy more expensive shields to keep my score, which I don't want to do. David originally said the nerf was being planned to go into effect on Friday. I assumed that was the case when I started playing this event, so I'm asking if that is still the case.

I don't think that's necessarily a bug because you're really only concerned with how many points the match will give you. If there's someone with a score of 1 that gives me 50 points for winning I technically don't have to care why this guy with such a low score gives me 50 points. It sure feels weird though.

"David wrote: Moore"]Demiurge: "We removed the score because it, like shields, facilitates hopping; so, the preview score was removed.
Phantron wrote: I didn't know people were looking at each other's scores and was calculating the expected winning % based on the ELO formula to determine shield hops. I always looked at the 'number of points for winning' to determine that. I think this change is kind of pointless unless the idea is to hide your rating completely because people clearly have the wrong idea of what your ELO rating means. It is not an accumulation rating, as in if you're rated 900 in ELO then you're supposed to stay at around 900 no matter how much you played unless you suddenly got a lot better at the game. But then the changes made certanly isn't going to make that happen either, not to mention as long as there are shields it is indeed an accumulation rating.

For example I'm at 900, but an alliance mate is at 1150. The reward number for him is 27 because the person they just queued has more points than them. But my mate now no longer knows their opponents actual score, so unless I decipher the "reward ratio" I don't know if that match would gain me more points than the 35 point match I currently have queued.
