I'm not entirely sure, but I think I'm noticing less retals when unshielded. May be the one benefit to multi-level sharding or it could just be because Hulk's the star. Will have to see how it is when the end of the event rolls around.
I'm correcting myself now. Retals have become far more time dependent. The last 3 hours are crazy, and I get hit by the same person 3+ times if unshielded. The values of shields have gone up for the last 3 hours.
  • Don't have time to read through all the comments but what about the fact that both events I've been placed in a time slice that doesn't have many big hitters. As a result once I get to 1k the most amount of points I can line up is 15 (this has been the case for 6 hours now - me skipping every half hour or so). I finally find a couple of targets worth 23 (wow wee). I unshield and hit both targets then after the second fight discover I've been attacked for 66. This means I'm never going to get that 1.1k reward unless I spend a disgusting amount of HP shield hopping one match at a time due to the lack of targets about. Secondly my season score is now being affected. I was a player that could score 1300/1400. Now I can't literally because of the hostility when unshielded and because of the lack of decent point targets I can line up.
Revert back to the old system where everyone has the same opportunity to score big. What if the time slice I've chosen has 10% of MPQ players, and 80% of that 10% didn't play everyday or only get minimal scores...it makes me more susceptible to attacks and means there is less points generated from seed teams etc. using 1k ISO to line a target up for 20 to then be attacked anyway (yes even after sentry bombing and boosts) and lose the measley amount of points I just got and more.
    Sort it out d3.
  • I am so happy with this change. Its the best one jet.

I noticed that the mmr is changed a little bit, after 300 points i start to see maxed teams, after 650 points i see players with highscores like 1,5k. But i dont care all that much, because as a euro based player i get to choose a time slot suiting my timezone!

    Thank you D3!
  • As a UK player the end times have made the last two pvps much fairer. Can we keep the changes and also roll out to pve? Dropping from 4th place overnight to a top 200 finish is much worse a problem, hopefully the fest of the community are as happy with the PvP changes as I am.
  • I like the change. There are trade offs of course, you either get a hell bracket and an opportunity for a huge score. Or an easier bracket at a tough time breaking 1000 points. I'm going to avoid the x-men like the plague and sacrifice my season score unless I absolutely need the 1300 progression. I just hope the heavy hitters(spenders) stick to the same time slot each pvp. It should make new character pvps much more manageable.

I agree with that. It was becoming tiresome having to work all the way up to top 50, buy an expensive 8hr shield and then still finish just below top 100 because of last hour point rush.

in hulk, i didn't have a problem. In gsbw I've got 1k and cannot find suitable targets.

I understand the groups in the lower tiers, but once you got the top few percent, i should be able to see players from other end times, otherwise i get stuck

I do however really enjoy the end times. My available time changes all the time, so this suits me well.
  • Both times I"ve picked the 1:00 AM (Eastern) slice, both times I've gotten death brackets. I'm losing interest in PVP even faster than I already was.

I may pick a weird time for when they offer Rocket and Groot just to avoid the bracketing.

Just finished HPK and it really rocks being able to play the final hour. Making t5 on a single shield is something I haven't done in a while.

On the flip side, my score went from 1200+ to 1000+, which is alright for PVPs where I don't care about the cover at 1100.
I probably will stick with 10pm CET for "meh" PVPs and will have to pick the old end time for when I need 1300+.

It's nice to have a choice and I must say, that if the MMR test in Nefarious was a complete train wreck, this test feels like a mild bicycle accident where nobody got hurt.

Warts need to be worked on, but I think there's a workable foundation here.

Just to clarify, D3 didn't choose your time slice, you did. But I understand your actual point because slices 1,2, 3, and 5 are fairly dry. I picked 4 because I am used to it. Good luck.
  • No they didn't, but they did implement the changes for me to have to choose time slices and breaking up the percentage of players available for a target. I'm guessing 4 is the way to go. My season score as well as my alliances season ranking is declining as a result of me being able to target anyone for more than 20 points and being attacked after 1 match.
  • I'm a UK player. 5am was fine for me. It was the 5pm ones that screwed me over because I work til that time. Oh well, guess I'll just have to adapt eh

I am a UK player too and work 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am so neither time was good for me. Glad to be able to play the last few hours for a change or even use a 3 hour shield.

I'm puzzled at this, you do realise that the only reason you had high scores in previous events was because players were playing as you describe above in those events. The only thing that's changed is that the top few teams aren't artificially inflating all shards as before, even without them 1300 is possible if you put in the work. Easy Street has been closed with this change, I hope for once that D3 don't give into the whiners.

For reference I scored 1300 for the first time in the Hulk event and I was in a normal shard with no top teams.

I'm more puzzled by your response. What work did you do in the Hulk event? Explain your for reference and please don't embellish. What you are saying is you got 1050. Then burned 100 to 200 iso each time to find 10 to 16 point targets? Then repeated that until you hit 1300? Very hard to believe. You would have spent a crazy amount of hp. Its nearly impossible to reach 1300 unless you are in one of the more populated slices. Trust me, I tried in slice 3 and 5.

I'm OK with time slices but D3 needs some solution for when a player runs out of targets while other players in other slices can find an abundance of targets. That's inherently unfair. Though, I think of the entire player base its actually a small percentage that hits 1300 or higher.

I was thinking 3 time slices would be better but that really wouldn't solve the underlying issue.

my statement is that pvp end times were never an issue, because of shields. Is this being rolled out for PVE where end times are actually the problem?

I like the changes because it's nice to be able to do something with my late nights besides be glued to my phone until 1am to make sure I get a cover.

So much this. I finished pvp at 4pm EST on a Sunday. It was the best feeling.

I would reach my goal and shield for 8 hours and then, unless I really really need top 5 or top 1, I'd just let it go and not check it until the next morning.

Haven't been able to read through this whole thread, but does anyone know how the alliance scoring works with regards to adding a new person whose shard has already ended? Is it just whoever is in it at the end of the last shard?
