So played 4 of these things so far. Either I have really bad bracket luck or there is some serious sharding going on. Between 4 to 7 players with at least 1 screen of 166+ in each bracket so far. Pretty sure 20-35% of the player base playing LR does not have 6 or more 166s.

Anybody know if they are sharding these things?
I'm not sure if there's sharding, since I don't look at my brackets.

But, try to enter at odd times. Heavies farming Iso enter immediately, and minmaxing heavies enter at the very end of each round.

Been mixing it up, hopefully just bad luck that will turn. Started at 1:10am, 3:00am, 9:35am, and 12:05pm

It took server issues and 6 tries but finally caught a softer bracket. 3:15 was the winning start time

You guys know it's not just start time, right?

If you start with 10 min left, everyone else started with 10 min left. Everyone plays for all 10 min.

This happens with most of the start times. It's only early start times that you'll get people who might not play the entire stretch left.

Within the last half hour, it's not about some magical start time to win. When EVERYONE in the bracket is playing till the end, it's about who can accumulate the most points the fastest. I'd spend more time strategizing around that fact, then trying to find the magic time where entrants only play one or two matches and then stop.

No, but if you start late enough, and kept the seed teams, you have an advantage against the people who didn't keep the seed teams. And if you're worried about getting attacked, it keeps your score too low for you to be worth targeting, and competing with others in the same boat.

    Truth.

I usually don't even bother looking at my late-entry leaderboard to maximize fight speed. Usually, more than one fight that lasts long enough for my GT to get a blue-to-red whammy combo means I'm not winning that LR.
  • Well, thanks to those LR Tokens my Devil Dino is now at 0/0/5 icon_e_sad.gif. I keep pulling his purple covers.
  • Bad luck with the tokens but still like this event. Good iso and decent HP. Thank you D3!

It's his best skill, so you've got that going for you at least.

1 LR, 8 minutes, 2 anniversary tokens, sold Dino purple and a black doctor ock.

    Good pace.
  • Woo, finally pulled a red Dino cover. 0/1/5, progress.

Joined with 17 minutes to go and scored first place. Thank you to whoever lost to me and gave me an extra 22 points, I have no doubt you pushed me over the top. icon_e_biggrin.gif

Of course, the tokens only gave me yet another IW token (I think that's my 6th so far from anniversary tokens) and 2*s, but oh well.
  • Won 2 in a row, came in 5th in the 3rd. Up 30k iso8.png (and 50 imcoin.png) so far on the day. No useful covers though.
  • YEAHHH! Won my first ever lightning round. And Thor herself made an appearance. Was doing decent, hit about 150 after 6 or 7 matches, and I'm in first, with about 5 contenders when suddenly lightning strikes!

No seriously. Lightning must have hit a power substation or something because although power's still on, the internet's dead. NOOO! This is my first lightning match that I could play so far as I was doing so well. I keep sporadically checking every 2 minutes while my wife looks at me like I'm crazy. After 15 mins power comes back on... and I'm 3rd and behind by about 40 points. I start on the next battle and get hit with ridiculous cascades. icon_thor.png is angry at me, hitting me with every power twice. Maybe I shouldn't have made fun of her boob armor. Retreating and losing 23 points, I'm in 5th?! Is this even doable? I check rosters. 4th and 5th have weak teams. I carry on. I manage to briefly hit first only to get hit for 30+ points and get sent back into 2nd with 9 mins left. 1st is 32 points ahead, at least 3 rounds. After 2 rounds, I'm in 1st by 1 point, 252 to 251. Will I make it? 1 more round with mins to go. I check back, and 1st has gotten hit losing about 25 points. <1 min left but still in range. I constantly refresh the rankings. icon_thor.png has forgiven me! I finish in 1st!
  • I just want to say, I'm having so much fun with these LR's. This is definitely the best 48 hrs of MPQ ever. What a great ending to the anniversary!

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm having so much fun with these LR's I'm having trouble bringing myself to play BoP. icon_eek.gif

Please continue to post strategies...I'm trying not to be negative as someone who got decimated and is transitioning 2* player....

Either MnMags+cstorm or Daken+wolverine will work fine. Daken wolvie is even sustainable.

You want to match red as much as you can, because as soon as the computer has enough for blue, he's gonna use it. You can then use red and off his she-thor. From there on you're the one with the 3*. Lean on her heavily. Remember she has a ton of health and regens at the end of each match. Play non-stop until the end, don't stop to check scores. MnMags+cstorm should be used only in the last minutes because it's horrible on defense. Ares is also your friend because he does enough damage to take out some 3*s consistently. Avoid any teams with hood at ALL costs. Patch over lvl130 is also awful to take down with 2*s.

But it's a sad fact of life that if you're using 2*s you're going to get hit. A lot. It's much quicker to take down 2* characters than work on 3*s, so even if you're not worth a ton of points people will use you guys to climb to the very top.

I've been regressing in these. First 3 LRs, I placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd (in that exact order). Went to sleep and then just played my fourth LR and finished Top 10. Maybe a badly timed bracket as I was 20th after my first match.
Just means that 19 players got 25 points off their first seed team a second earlier than you. If you actually check leaderboards after doing the first fight you can usually see first with maybe 30-40 points already, and a bunch of other people at 25 points.

Sometimes I hate the menus. Finished a match, had to decline sending ISO through facebook to people that don't play, then a defensive win in BoP got me a progression reward.
  • Thought about starting my own thread, but this is so much lazier. We are currently at approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to the best 48 hours of LR ever (AFAIK). LR's with Anniversary Tokens + HP for 1st + double ISO everywhere (too bad I don't know how to do the Buzz Lightyear meme). I started Anniversary week just accumulating ISO and having fun. When PVE and CA started I had enough ISO to take Baby Daken and M Hawkeye from 15 to 94, so I did. Since then I have also taken MMN from 50+ to 94. Hence, I started trying to get as many of my 2*'s maxed as I can.

Enter stage right, GT LR's. My goal now is to play every single LR for the next 48 hours, which is much more than my ordinary first 10minutes with occassional last 20 minutes of regular LR's in which I have never played more than 10 in a week (I think). When I thought it was going to be regular LR with double ISO, I just planned to hit as many as I could in my spare time. When the Anniversary tokens were added, well....you already my goal so you know the rest.

In addition, I still plan to hit PVE again soon and compete in BOP because ISO is good, so more ISO must be better.

Hopefully the sharding and RNG gods will be kind, if not, at least there's ISO. Hopefully, the ISO will balance out any sanity/sleep I lose the next 24 LR rounds. If the question is why do this, then the answer is because this kind of opportunity does not come around often...and I do not mean ISO, HP, or tokens...although those type of rewards demand attention icon_e_wink.gif

    See y'all soon.

Halfway there. It'd be nice if a second Dino token visited before anniversary week ended.
  • All I have to say is, "Thor: Goddess of Thunder" is not to be trifled with.

Sure, but you probably still want to hit at least 300 for the 1k iso8.png, which can take a while at 8 points a hit on seed teams

If you keep the seed teams, and play only one match, you get 25 points. I tried that a few times and never got higher than 7th, with players ahead of me with more points. If instead you start skipping nearer the end you'll see teams with 35+ points, and they should be beatable.

And to avoid a mad rush, I'm using a new tactic, or at least one I've not seen suggested elsewhere. I start the match with 10 minutes to go, get to the point of my next move winning, then just stop. I wait until there's only about 30 seconds left, trying not to cut it too fine, then do the killing blow.

The one time I've had the chance to do that I got top 5. I don't know how well I actually did because I didn't have time to see the table.
