DISCUSSION - New Characters in Comic Packs

Great news - we're finally going to add the new characters to the comic packs.

Going forward, new characters are going to rotate into the comic packs in sync with Versus seasons. New characters will be added into the packs, and older characters will be given some time out of the packs. As a result, we'll be getting all the new characters into the packs without reducing the rates of any of the 3 and 4 stars, so your character progress won't slow down.

Our first rotation will happen on October 17th with Season 7.

In: Beast, Captain Marvel, Colossus, Deadpool, Doctor Octopus, She-Hulk
Out: Daredevil, Doctor Doom, Human Torch (Classic), Loki, Ragnarok, Wolverine (Patch), Punisher

The first characters that are taken out of packs will start rotating back in during Season 8. We'll always communicate in advance which characters will be rotating out.

This will put the latest characters into the packs sooner and allow us to work on the characters that are out of the spotlight.

UPDATE: Some folks asked about She-Hulk. Thanks for catching that. I added her to the list above. She-Hulk is getting added to the heroic packs. She is already in the event packs.

Should we assume She-Hulk is also "in"?

Also, will the characters that rotate out not be featured in PvE and PvP events for Season 7 (i.e. not expect any covers for them anytime soon)?

Holy snap...who are you? Ok, past that. Nice that you guys are fixing the character tokens! I like how more characters have been taken out than added in. That will hopefully increase the drop rates a little for the 3 people right?

Sow....there's zero chance I'll be scoring a patch, punisher, doom or HT cover for a couple of weeks. Great news, thank you. With chances being as slim as they were already it's now completely impossible for a limited time. My opinion: work on another solution, this is not the right one imo.

This is why this problem is harder than everyone thinks. Because I agree, people that were one or two covers away on a certain hero have no chance for a month now.

All these people kept saying, "I can't believe you're not doing this super simple fix I thought of!" not realizing that there's negative consequences of every one of them.

I'm genuinely pleased for all the vets who will finally get to open the tokens they have been hoarding, fingers crossed Santa gives you what you want.

Personally, I'm a little gutted. Patch and Punisher are my most covered 3* (at a whopping 5 and 6 covers respectively) so will be waiting a little while longer for them to be actually usable

Good on the devs making a decision and giving this a go though

Now I wish I hoarded those useless Heroic tokens, rather then cashing out for ISO. This certainly is a solution that is fine by me.

I don't think there is a worry about having the featured character in PvP not in the heroic. They would always be available via the event packs, for those that like buying tokens. I am sure some people buy Heroic's but I sort of doubt they do it to try to get the featured character, as it always has a higher chance in the event tokens.

If they had lowered 2* odds slightly and raised 3* odds by the same amount, the negatives would have been pretty miniscule. I can live with this, though, since I don't need the covers for the pulled people.

That being said - I think they should do something to make up the difference somewhat, like reconfigure LR and/or event tokens to make the pulled people easier to get in those (possibly the ONLY people to get in at least one of them)

Of course the downside there is with D3/Demiurge I'm pretty sure they don't want to give away more 3*s then they do now. I would rotate stuff more than roughly once a month but this is the solution I came up with because it's easy enough to cancel out the main negative (exactly what you suggest with event tokens) and should be dirt simple to implement.

Thanks for the update. I'll probably finally be able to finish up those characters sooner than later. Looks like I'm holding off on opening my Season 6 10-packs until Season 7.

There's still the chance to win them from event rewards, or event tokens (if they are in those events).

Hopefully the characters that are on a "break" from heroics will get more play as event rewards - at least, the ones that aren't being pulled because they need a rebalance (in this case, nobody's especially jonesing for Doom/Rags/Loki/Daredevil in their current forms, but HT, Punisher and Patch are all solid characters). I'm this close to having a Patch that doesn't suck and it'd be a shame to just force him to the back burner for a month.

Will lightning round tokens still have a chance to get featured heroes/villains even though they are out in rotation?

This was what I was recommending a while back - pull out all the lightning round heroes/villains from heroic/standard tokens since they're in the LR tokens at a higher rate, that way both sets will be available
