  • I am in an interesting main bracket oh well glad I am only shooting for top 10.

    /emote waves to Colognoisseur.......

Edit: Oh and points in this subs are worth 33% more than last. I will not know for 12+ hours if the rubber banded has also been increased by this amount or not.

    So many Muscles...

I just got horribly wiped out because I let one Threaten get through which was followed by a ridiculous cascade instantly killing two of my team.

Is 1 star.png storm worth taking from 1 to 50 for 28000 iso8.png ? My psy, ht, im40 are 100 level & max Thor & OBW. Would max storm do much for me in this event or going forward?

I've found mstorm pretty helpful in goon nodes even at 1/3 of enemy levels. Lightning strike can help clear goon tiles, and if you can spam the board with hailstorm, goons can't use their powers. Also the attack tiles actually helped her down 2 goons on her own after the rest of my team fainted.
And Mistress can be helpful on the odd occasion too - whether or not you remember to equip some TUs.

I'm 90+% sure I understand what is going on here in terms of the structure of this event.

Once the community-at-large figures this out, there are going to be some severely angry players.

Another plan to sell more health packs?

Yup it's a conspiracy to sell more health packs. Bet the Hood and his goons are behind all this. Them Muscles are threatening the devs...

Always had trouble in the prologue with these annoying maggia goons. Threaten into lucky cascade = death. Ah well so far at the start they don't seem too bad. Haven't seen all of the nodes yet so far though, might get a lot worse.

EDIT: Can't do the essential nodes here, but none of the others seem as horrific as that last Ares one, or the Juggs one - at least not yet, dunno if scaling will make the Sentry one/Hood one horrible to repeat.

You're observing a symptom of the issue and not the core cause here. The core framework of this event is what is truly notable here, for several reasons (which is what the bag of popcorn is for).

If no one figures this out by the end of the 2nd sub, I'll start dropping a bread trail for everyone to connect the dots.

So is this the team compositions of the nodes themselves?
Juggs + Sentry + goon so that they have a better chance of getting off a fed attack on you?
Ares + 2 green feeder goons
Sentry + Daken for the WR / strike tile combo

So on and so forth? Making the node team compositions more able to consistently get off an attack to get at our health packs?

On a separate note (node?), the last non-essential node Getaway Plan has level 156 Daken/Moonie/Bullseye. Yay me...

Just finished the sun event and was 4 out of 200. There are still 4 days left on the main event but can't figure out how to proceed because the game doesn't give me an option to fight...any one know what's going on? This happened to me with the last event also.

  • So is this the team compositions of the nodes themselves?

    Still thinking too small.
Stop thinking in terms of health packs, as those are just an ends to a means.
Team compositions are irrelevant to what D3 has likely done here.

Also, there are already a fairly significant number or changes that were implemented recently to burn health packs. Team-ups come to mind, as well as adding Blue to 2** Daken. As a villain, Doc Ock's black can viewed as a new health pack burner as well, as his Attack tiles will surely be spammed across any of his fights in PvE.

Think bigger. What does a lack of health packs potentially affect in PvE and what has changed recently before this event?

I'd take that over most other combinations. Moonstone is pretty **** and Bullseye is relatively squishy. Its 189 for me, Daken's strike tiles were making it 500-600 per match and 3 Bullseye tiles reduced my match damage to 1 until I got some strike tiles (ran Psy/OBW/Torch). Was pretty easy until a god cascade took Psy from 9k health to 2k and gave Moon 17 red. Sacrificed Psy and limped by with the rest of the team.

Hoodlum Inc (Hood Thug Muscle) is going to be a skip node really soon. I wanted to clear it at least once and I got lucky that I managed to match 3 reds in a row, killing Hood by turn 4. I hate Muscle/Thug nodes due to the yellow spam, Thug's 3 turn pistol is almost impossible to stop and if a threaten goes off you're screwed.

Special Delivery (Bullseye Hitman Hitman) is not scaling super out of control, which is a plus, but denying a Sniper will be difficult. At my current scaling it hits for 3k.

Blood Money (Hood Don HItman) is probably going to eat a Health Pack per rotation. Again, by the time the Hood goes down a Sniper or two will probably go off.

If I Can't Have It (Daken Sentry Ares) is going to come down to burning Sentry before they get lucky and match 7 green. Daken's tiles are strong enough that a World Rupture will probably cause a wipe.
  • To win you have to grind with weak rb.

Grinding means ppl will be scaled out like gauntlet.

Scaled out means end times won't matter.
  • I was able to beat each node once this time at least - though I imagine I'll be back to skipping the three hardest again.

Is anybody actually enjoying this? I guess it's better than Venom/Juggernaut, but that's about it. I'd rather have Thick as Thieves. This is just miserable.

Thank you for the kind words, Jozier. You've really touched my heart this afternoon. icon_e_biggrin.gif

AFAIK, I'm still on a veteran-community initiated moratorium in regard to specifically calling out strategies or describing how the latest round of Calvinball works, if I figure it out before someone else does. Hence, I am trying to get others to realize what is occurring through indirect means. Forum games seem to be the "in" thing at the moment, so I attempted to go that route. Unlike Nonce's quiz, I seriously doubt in any capacity that I will be sent any HP for figuring out Calvinball first for this event.

Not that it matters so much this time. Unless the final main nodes are thrown from a different Calvinball curve from what is already being presented (which I severely doubt based on half the nodes already being unlocked and past precedents on how this event works), the devs have finally come up with a system that can't be gamed and generally punishes everyone relatively equally (with 3 and 4*s rosters punished a bit harder because of how scaling works). I'd highly expect this system to be the new norm for PvE going forward.

And for the popcorn comments, I'll just say this... It is a crying shame that the most loved and upvoted changes to the game in a long time is the primary source of future misery in PvE. But then again, Demiurge has a significant past track record of slowly implementing mass changes as piecemeal implementations that seem innocent and even beneficial independent of each other, but only show their true colors when all brought together as a complete package, which is what is occurring in this PvE.

Even so, muscles are a pain. :\ My strategy is to knock them out first. Then again, I don't need to deal with Juggernaunt's Headbutt.
But, this tournament just isn't doing it for me. Now I'm beginning to wonder if Doc. Oc. is even worth getting or icon_psylocke.pngblueflag.png I think I'll just go for my last MHawkeye cover.

Wow. Yeah the 2nd sub is pretty much it. The initial levels of all the nodes is just too high. It's like they thought that because the enemies aren't heroes they should be even higher level - but guys like Muscle are WAY worse than any hero, especially with all the others.

Glad I went ahead and ground out all the progression awards I wanted before this sub because at this point the event is just not worth it. It's not even worth fighting for the main sub's rank - even top 40% is impossible. The whole thing is just way over my head.

Bleh. This event was pretty fun at first but this is just too much. Not to mention that without rubberbanding 120k was just a dream anyway.
