Ugh, restricted to 8 characters none of whom are of the quick healing sort, much less true healing?

OBW is the only one with Temp Healing, and IM35 is the only one with defense tiles (lol).

Psylocke is the only one with Strike tiles for OBW to double dip.

Enemies will include overleveled countdowns which no included characters can overwrite, and Squishy Storm is the only one with cascades cheaper than Thor's 12. Those two do not match up well together.

I don't think I'll be getting mr. octopus.
We're all on the same playing field, right? Am I missing something here?

Well, I'm not on the same playing field because while I have all three boosted 3*s with decent to max coverage, they're all around level 100 or much lower. If the scaling is based on the highest leveled heroes in your roster, including ones you can't use, my 166 Patch and Panther won't be doing me any favors.

    Definitely a hard event.

Personally I really enjoy the nodes where they hand you a powerful guest team and just let you go to town, like they do for one node in the main. That's really fun for us newbies who haven't seen these guys in action. Sad that you can't replay the node, even if it's just for the random **** rewards and no points.
    ...

You can sometimes play them again for, quite litterally, no reward. I did the one in the PVE when they gave Nick a few times, I was curious about his powers and wanted to play. icon_e_smile.gif This one doesn't seem to let you, though.

Also, I have got to remember NOT to join these events within the first hour... I can already tell I'm in a bracket that will ensure no ranking rewards. icon_e_smile.gif
This is a good lesson to learn.

Blast. I knew I should've waited to join the event.
  • I'm on the second section, and hit an essential node that says that Psylocke is required. I don't have Psylocke.

Does that mean I'm screwed (can't go any farther in the story)? Or is there an easy way to get Psylocke?

With IM40 doing double duty with HM, my roster is ****. I dont have a good Psy so my 2nd and 3rd chars are OBW and TinyThor...yet Ares in General Mayhem is 190? Looks like I got scaled out before starting......
  • Kind of bummed Psylocke is the top progression reward. She's one of only two 3* characters I have with 5 covers already and she was the top reward in the last event.

I could use basically any other cover except HT black. World...doesn't revolve around me? icon_cry.gif

Trisul's point was that all the things you listed are things everyone has to deal with, regardless of the level.

Partially right. The post in question has a good point about PvE scaling to ENTIRE roster vs. the limited roster we have for this event. Polarity's suggestion is the best one given so far, but if roster-limited scaling is implemented, there's a whole other set of weird use-cases that may bend the entire event.

In any case, heroic PvE scaling is one major reason to use a more even leveling strategy.
  • Tough event. I have 7 heroes that qualify, but only one cover for all but 3 of them. I've failed Daken/Juggernaut/Venom 3 times so far and can't get any further. Due to the failures they've scaled down from level 89 to 87, but I can't even defeat a single one of them before they wipe me. I don't see myself getting all rewards in this event icon_e_sad.gif.

I hate Heroic events. My only half decent team is going to have to be Torch, IM40, and OBW. Having to play with just them for 6 days isn't fun.

Sentry + Juggernaut + Analyst (who feeds red.) Wow. All I can say is thank the Lord the first time she just put out her "Unskilled Shot."

    That's ugly.
I just watched it - with the Aid of a Sacrifice tile thanks to an unfriendly first turn cascade - mash Psylocke for over 7K. The initial shot only did about 1500 damage but it kicked off an endless series of cascades icon_evil.gif

I was feeling so positive about MPQ after the Gauntlet that I was debating putting money into it for the first time in like six months.

This event managed to cure me of that inside of fifteen minutes. The scaling is already ludicrous in it, and I've got a terrible assortment of characters to use in it, even though I have all the 3*s at 150th level, and all the others except Hawkeye (who's still level 70) maxed.

I posted this in general already but it feels like the recent efforts are designed to make sure a max roster can't possibly put together a team that'd have any kind of synergy whatsoever. Now if you're a transition player you can put together a great team because you got some very good 2*s that would still be viable, but in the 166 range you can't use your 2*s due to level shift, but your 3*s have no synergy whatsoever. If they're not going to expand the number of characters available in a heroic roster, they need to at least increase the 2* buff to +60 levels to offset the level shift. That'd put them at a range where they can actually have tile ownership and thus compliment your team. Oh and 1*s probably need a +100 level or so by the same token just to offset level shift.

Good news so far: no scaling! (Other than the initial scaling done when you open the sub.) I don't even think I've noticed any personal scaling, or if there is any it's very slight.

Bad news so far: no rubberbanding. 120k points... how exactly? Maybe later subs will be worth more.

I know all you long-timers are hatin', but this is still (so far) a great event for newbies. Your limits are our gains.

It's unfortunate that the ranked prize is the new character, but like I said earlier I don't even have dreams of that happening - I'm sure the big roster folks still have the advantage there (the top 15% will still top 15% it and all). I'm just in it for the progression rewards and maybe a few heroic tokens if I'm lucky.

Also, I'm not looking forward to the next event where Doc Ock is required, since he was just released...

So it's great for newbies but you think you have no chance and veterans will win anyway? So really it still sucks for you. Now it just sucks with 8 heroes instead of 50.
  • Since this event has HT it'll definitely be in favor of established roster, but it just feels really dumb to have Psylocke and HT die over and over and know that there's literally no one you can put in to tank their colors.

My clears so far have been done with no health packs. HT and Psy of course, and OBW to steal & heal. Just took a couple matches to remember how awesome OBW was.

There is no way I could that without using health packs.

What level is your node "General Mayhem"?

Mine is up from 127 to 167.

General Mayhem started at 182 for me. Took one look at that and went NOPE.

Three amigos node is borderline impossible as well at this point as well. I haven't seen node levels this high since pre-mstorm nerfing, and this is the opening sub of the event.

Sounds like roster-based automatic scaling from the Gauntlet event is still in play :/icon_cry.gif
