Now my very last suggestion for PVE is to remove those rank rewards. Instead give only progression rewards and keep the same format. This way we wont care for end times.
Funny thing is, in PvP events rank rewards make shields valuable ( and net D3 more cash, eventually ), but in PvE it's just a pain in the **** since you can't even spend HC to secure your position ( unless you count Health Packs, which are a lot less efficient than shields )
In other news : the Sentry node entertained me with Sacrifice + 10 World Rupture tiles + another World Rupture as they first ended. Good times.0 -
Yeah my first run through that Sentry node, I got my backside handed to me. Just brutal0

I got my 20k last night with about 90 minutes to go and went to bed, which was good for top 100/alliance top 50. I'll start this sub when I get home from work, but I'm mainly just playing for that token, even though it's probably 250 iso like all of the ones I've opened so far this event.0

Usually it's 250 iso, but on the off chance that it's a good token, it's sweet.... And all the more sweeter when it's some thing you need.
Like the purple cover of DP I got today sweeeeeetttttt.0 -
My two first place tokens were both 2* Daken , and I needed both to finish him. I'm pretty happy with that.0

I was beginning to think they didn't exist.
I got very lucky with tokens so far...
Combined with and a truckload of ISO I have had a good run of it.0 -
This event is actually quite bad if you're trying to compete for top though since there isn't anything interesting at the top 2 and most of the top players have Punisher you can afford to take it easy. But that's got nothing to do with the structure itself. The point structure is a pretty standard 'grinder always win' fashion and probably worse than usual, and it's compounded by the last sub having the two really hard nodes worth a relatively small number of points (Sentry/Dr. Doom) because there isn't much incentive to take a risk on the two much harder nodes when they don't even give more points than a node with level 70 enemies. If the 3* offered was someone desireable you'd be hearing all kinds of complaints about how this event sucks.
Though one upside is that since the second sub is totally trivial relatively few people are trying to get ahead since the 3* is not someone top players need and you know if you grinded everyone else will just grind too so as long as not too many people are grinding, everyone can just take it easy. It's basically a 'price (grind) match guaranteed' though it only works because the reward is too weak for anyone to think about trying to outgrind their opponents.0 -

What's a good plan of attack with "Iso-8? What Iso-8?"
Somehow I managed getting through all other nodes without having to use a single health pack. The. I got to this node. I've tried a number of different teams but can't quite figure this one out. Anyone have suggestions on teams to use (from my available roster) and who to attack first?
I'm usually going for Devil Dino first because he's got a viscous bite. But Hulk's clap and Deadpool's whales don't exactly tickle either.0 -
My general plan is the same. MNMags + CStorm + any third (pref. someone with AP boost/steal or passives), with ap boosts if I think I need it.
On that particular node, I'd take out Deadpool first, then Dino, while denying as much green as possible.0 -
Is it just me, or does anyone else believe there should be more transparency about the running of these events? Every event seems to have different values of scaling and rubberbanding and we need to keep guessing. It is ok for us, enfranchised players who frequent the forums and have PVE gurus that quickly deduce the system being used, but what for everybody else? Before reading several PVE guides, I was terribly confused by the shifting point value in my nodes and by the failure of time/effort management strategies that worked in previous events. I'm sure that's how the big majority of players feel about PVE.Seasick Pirate wrote:What's a good plan of attack with "Iso-8? What Iso-8?"

Hulk is by far the most harmless of the three. Also, you want him on the board the longest because his sole presence may encourage the AI to wait and collect more AP to use Thunderous Clap or Smash, rather than immediately using the vastly more devastating Prehistoric Bite and A Bit off the top. I'd go for Deadpool first. Not only ABOTT can deal more damage than Bite, he also will use Life of the Party to pretty much negate damage dealt to allies with less health than himself.0 -

I use cStorm, MMN, and someone (I usually use She-Hulk in case gathering blue becomes an issue so I can use Power of Attorney as the big AOE to finish Deadpool). I focus on Deadpool first while I gather enough for MMN's Purple or cStorm's Blue. Usually by the time I get there, I can swap Devil Dino to the front and set off Wind Storm. Kills Deadpool and then I keep Devil Dino stunlocked until he dies and then mop up Hulk.0 -
I've been using the tried-and-true C. Storm/MN! Magneto team to Wind Storm the heck out of it. Rush purple (directing match damage at Deadpool to whittle him down), Polarity Shift, Wind Storm targeted on Hulk so Anger never kicks in, at which point DP should be dead (or dying) and you can focus on the dino for most of the time Hulk is stunned. Ideally I'd have Daken as the third to tank purple, but I don't have a decently leveled Daken so I'm using Colossus for Immovable Object instead.0
-
Just gave it another shot with Storm/Mags/L.Thor and scraped by with Mags left with 40hp.
Storm ended up being taken out quickly (as she was tanking everything) and ended up doing 90% of it with Thor and Mags. Brought in an Aggressive Recon too which helped keep green away from Hulk and Dino.
Thanks for the help guys? I really wanted that iso, haha!0 -

A lot of players aren't actually taking it easy though as scores keep increasing...

It's probably an opportunity for some players to rank higher than usual.
Conveniently, I think that Punisher is a very good character for a 2 -->3 transitioning player!0 -

I think this event happened to work out because outside of the true crazies you should have most of the normal top performers taking it easy and allow other people to have a shot. I'm not convinced this happened due to some grand plan though and that it just happened to work this way. I remember the first time when Deadpool was the prize, the grinding got quite nasty and it's one of the more competitive event I can recall.0
