Devs, can we please have female characters that don't suck?

  • If you want a candidate for a top tier female character (other than Phoenix) Rogue is where it's at.

Want proof she rocks the house?

Check out Uncanny X-men #194. I quote thus, "With most of the X-Men down but Rogue, she purportedly touches Kitty to absorb some of her powers. Realizing that Nimrod might not be able to handle someone who has all the X-Men's powers, she also absorbs Wolverine, Colossus and Nightcrawler’s powers and tries to attack Nimrod head on. Sure enough, she is able to keep the robot off guard and attacks it with enough power and ferocity that she smashes the robot to bits."

That's the issue I fell in love with her.

  • Rogue would be awesome but also a disaster to implement. How would you even handle power absorption? Straight copy? Enemy or teammate? What color? AP steal? Stun? It could do any or none of these and be in character.

An easier to implement strong female character would be Jean Grey, or Emma Frost. Or they could just fix Storm to not suck so much.

2* storm is actually pretty damn good. It's just too bad all the female characters have such low health, which is stupid. They are super heroes. They can take just as much of a beating as anyone else.

I believe that the power absorption could be implemented as she creating a Team Up card based on the targeted opponent. Then you give her an ability to generate T-U AP (something along the lines of what 2* Mags and GSBW do) and voila, she literally stole an ability from an opponent. Her third ability could be she using her ability offensively (as she did with Ms. Marvel) dealing damage, stunning and stealing AP.
  • As you just described, Rouge would join the gallery of terrible female characters. She would have terribad HP because the developers apparently believe female = low hp, and then her "power steal" would take X AP to generate the TU, and then Y TU-AP to actually use, making it overly expensive for the damage caused. Stuns are good, but ultimately they are utility not power. A 9 purple AP to generate 6 TU tiles MIGHT see niche play as you then bring TUs to stomp the enemy, but power absorption would be 3 covers at most and not really used.

The reason I compare GSBW directly to thor is they have the same function; a decent red that still pales in comparison to the other powers, a great ability that generates a ton of green, and a high damage green AOE.

Thor just does it so much better that there's no reason to use GSBW over him unless she's required, and with their overlap there's very little reason to use both unless you're doing some GSBW/LT/Daken team. ... That actually sounds pretty nasty.
Well, except that GSBW's purple is quite a bit better than thor's yellow and her green does not only massive AOE damage but also clears the board. I absolutely do not see them as having the same function as GSBW obviously is not a Tank. And I'm not claiming she's as good as Thor either, him propably being the absolute best character at the moment, all around. One reason to use GSBW is to have a useful purple ability...especially in light of the mags nerf. You might even use her alongside thor.
Also, generally defense doesn't mean ****, but high HP and speed (low cost/high damage) make a huge difference if you decide to make a shield hop for top 10

Thor just takes longer to kill.

true, when we're talking about the final shield hop stage, she certainly isn't a top pick. But then, only a handfull (at best) characters are...So there's the main problem right there, there is just a way too small group of absolute top characters. Due to the small sample and the fact that there are a lot more male than female characters it's not surprising that there's no female among those final few.

That really depends what you're looking for. DT is great for shredding the board and making cascades, but TS does a quick 2500 DMG and adds an extra 3 green compared to DT. Personally, I want to get out of any battle as fast as possible while being efficient, and I've won so many fights with just TS.

Took me a moment to realize which is which...thanks to D3 for ridiculously translating everything icon_e_smile.gif

So now that you are done with a round of buffs and nerfs, can we have another in which female characters are given more relevance? Or can we please have a new, truly powerful, tournament-worthy female character?

And finally the wish is granted.
4* Thor is definitely not suck. icon_cool.gif
