Top Gun - Buy-In Tournament

As expected, this is like the flash Elite tournaments that have sprung up on some recent weekends, but with a Falcon tournament instead of No Holds Barred or Avengers.

Buy-in Cost: 150 Hero Points
Length: 12 Hours
Bracket Size: 52? (what is this, DC Comics? ... he says after reading an old issue of "52" ;-D)

Event Rewards:
1st Place: Mohawk Storm, Green/Yellow, 2000 ISO, 250HP
2nd Place: Mohawk Storm, Yellow, 1500 ISO, 100HP
Top 5: Heroic Token x3, 1000 ISO, 50HP
Top 10: Heroic Token x2, 1000 ISO, 50HP
Top 20: Heroic Token x2, 500 ISO
Top 35: Heroic Token, 500 ISO
Top 52: Heroic Token, 250 ISO

Progression Awards:
25 Points: 140 ISO
50 Points: Standard Token
100 Points: 250 ISO
250 Points: Standard Token
500 Points: 500 ISO

    Errr, sprung that on us a bit. Strange character for a buy-in too, considering how few people have high level Falcons.

    I'm actually in... okay shape, as Falcon is one of the four characters I've been leveling and I just hit 150. It's the partnering that will be tricky for me if I decide to do this one.

    Daken/Falcon/Sentry seems like a no-brainer. Maybe replace Sentry with Thor on low levels. Interested to see what rewards are and what buy-in means.

    My Falcon is kinda sucky (L81 3/4/2) but if this has decent rewards I might give it a shot with my Punny/Panther team. I need some sleep but I'll stay awake long enough to find out what the hell this is.

    That might not bug me, in the sense that I wouldn't bother with the buy-in tournaments at all and could just look at the regular ones as ISO and Token farms. Plus, with the crazy people focusing on the buy-ins, the other ones might be a little more reasonable.

    This is the first time I've seen a buy in tournament. How do they work? Do you have to pay ISO/HP to even attempt it?

    Makes it pretty difficult to finish off any of those "coveted" characters for people who have not done already since the token drop rates are atrocious.

    Is there a point of doing a buy in tournament with the current sharding?

    The previous Elite buy-ins were actually not that bad for guaranteed 3* tokens. Brackets were small and you got a heroic token for entering. The best thing about this Top Gun is that it is outside of Season score. Gives me an excuse to do something without having worry about my placement.

    My guess:
    Buy in 150 HP
    rank 1-2= 3* token + 500 HP
    rank 3-10= 3 heroic tokens + 200HP
    11-25=2 heroic tokens + 100HP
    26-50 =2 heroic tokens + 50HP
    51-100= 1 heroic token + 50HP
    101+= 1 heroci token + iso

    Err... with good placements for good rewards just about requiring a shield now, or even multiple hops, all of the tournaments are already sort of buy-ins.

    With all the changes they've introduced lately would it really shock you to see them implement something like this?
    I'm completely speculating the worst case scenario yes, but it wouldn't shock me if it was true

    Sure that's a possibility too. Never said it wasn't. If you think that Fury rewards are a more reasonable speculation though I question your definition of the word "reasonable". All you did was go in a positive direction whereas I went in the negative.
    Guess we'll find out soon enough though and all the speculation will be over! icon_lol.gif

    How about mystery rewards!! First Place gets 5 free chimichonga's!! Second place gets 28000 deadpool points. 3+ plus gets 20 level 1 balistic Salvo TU that replace all the TU you currently have!!!
