If you don't shield, you get attacked immediately and lose hundreds of points in minutes. Then you are low on health and have to buy health pack as you can't play with other chars than the top tier chars.

But you must have a secret tech that hundreds of players don't have...

Weird that of all the guys that score higher than 1100+ per PvP you're the only one spending 150 HP only. Good for you though.

I only wanted to comment on this here, from my view point of this game as I see this as a completely false statement. I am not F2P on my main account as I have spent money to purchase some 3* covers. I have never purchased shields not even when they first came out to test them. I easily make top 5 without shields with 900-1200 points. I rarely get attacked. I have 3 maxed 3* covers. Pun, Patch, Falcon. I use Pun/Patch with Falcon and featured in PVP with just about every match. Sometimes I switch it up to see what happens but the end result is usually the same. Top 5 IMO is easy to obtain without shields and Yes my opponents are Featured + 2 maxed 3*.

In that case, you probably do not optimize your play in PvE then, considering your roster.

You can hold 1200 without ever shielding? Are you sure you are not sandboxed?
  • Unless he can prove otherwise, he may be is.

I don't see him participating in an Alliance thread.

    Falcon Top Tier ?
  • Honestly, do you even read what you write before you hit "submit"? What has my strategy and FTP got to do with going casual?

So going casual means what to you?

Maybe it's cause the game is boring and i don't feel the need to do every pvp, now i have a decent roster that can challenge whatever event is going on.

The game got stale, and until it improves, then why should invest tonnes of time into it? I shouldn't. It's not because of burnout, it's cause the game hasn't done anything interesting or new to keep me attached to it. So, once again, sorry but u make no sense.

Saying FTP is not the best way to play the game??? Why exactly? Should i spend tonnes of money buying covers i can earn over time? No. I enjoy collecting covers for characters i want. I'm not like you and have to buy every cover to be able to compete. Just as you say, people shouldn't care what you spend, then you shouldn't care that FTP exist and can compete at a high level. Now if you must excuse me, i feel myself getting dumber by the second responding to your posts. My I.Q. used to be 183.

After having to look up sandboxed. It may be true, I will have to email support on this. Also, a point of clarification, I stated that I can do it. Not that I did it consistently. Within season 3 I did reach 1200 points for one PVP. Which altered at most 20 points. It was also pre-true healing. Since True Healing, 900 points tends to be the limit to obtain a top 5 spot in PVPs that I particpate in. I also do not participate in all PVP's, only the ones that I am interested in. I was in EvilSonGoku's bracket once. I believe I took top 10 for that one.

    Edit: sent email.

My Alliance doesn't participate in the forum threads. We mainly communicate through the alliance chat. The alliance I am apart of is Ancient X-Men so you can look my account up. IGN is darkmagearcana.

Well if you're still in that alliance, then you are not chilling in the sandbox. Mystery solved icon_razz.gif

Well that would be good to know.

Considering the scores of 5DV on each PvP, 2 shield hops (and up to 4) is impossible to score 1300+

It is easily possible. I scored above 1300 in almost every PvP in season 3 and I never spent more HP than I would gain from the event. Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean other people can't.

Whatever, you have just spoken (as usual) the universal truth.

    Amen.

I just hope your IQ is higher now.

With no tanking, no boosts, no skip tax and the likes ?

I don't tank. I only use boosts in between shields and use skip tax to find opponents worth good points, obviously. And I really only skip while I'm shielded to line up fights to maximize my hopping. I only use iso boosts, too.
  • And you are on the 2* maxed level or 3* roster ?

I have most 3* characters cover maxed. I have 4 166lvl toons, and 6 more at or above 140. I've never bought a cover for any of them.
  • We speculated for long that if there's MMR Hell (what devs claimed the algo should prevent) there can be MMR Heaven as well. As we know the most important part of scoring is to have few incoming fights. If you not turn up on people's offers, especially on those with proper roster you have a mostly free climb.

Guess we all experienced big fluctuations in the amount of attacks even in seemingly similar situations.

We also know that you're less offered if you're passive and have more attacks if start playing. (I mean not the retals). And that expiring shield bumps the chance being offered significantly for a short period.

Time to time we see people with quite poor rosters sit with big points unshielded and not moving in any direction -- most likely got there in some calm early period and stay off -- then just not get attacks for the combination of previous reasons.

This kind of **** is just part of the game. Also the tendency to just shift overnight.

How can you protect yourself from incoming fights ? Playing sentry/daken/featured so that people skip you ?

At this point I think this would be a much better game if there were two kinds of events:
    1) PvE events that afterwards get added to the prologue/story section permanently, although they could still be re-run as "PvE but really PvP"s for placement rewards like they are currently
    2) A continuous, never-ending series of 2 hour, bracketed lightning rounds with 3 randomly buffed 3*s and 3 randomly buffed 2*s in each

Sure your defense team has an impact. With serious limits. In current metagame there are no unbeatable teams. If you happen to be the only reasonable point offer for many people you'll get a mass beating no matter what. But if you are one in the pool of similar points some teams will more likely be skipped than others. (it may vary by individuals a lot depending on their preferred/available teams and experience too).

I surely don't know how to disappear, but too experienced tournaments with mostly silence and others with heavy fire from all kinds of lousy teams. I just learned not to sweat about it. A few times I abandoned the tournament. then it kept bugging me so I did an extra run a few hours later (likely using the retals) and that time it was smooth. Go figure.

guess that is hardly much help, but let me offer a view: whatever impatient you are, consider that getting 3 covers instead of 4 per PVP is barely slower. While finishing in the 2-cover individual is way less effort in all regards. (And a 20-member alliance with everyone getting 2 covers is sure top100.)

And the 'just play on' method without shields is also worth a new try it may turn out more fruitful even going higher really just by avoiding the extra injection at unshielding.
  • We'll see what they have to offer on Friday before pulling the trigger.
