It's not only X-Men really.
Now that we know that some guys spend 20k-30k skip tax per event, there is no limit to spendings.
Let's see what the beginning of Season 4 will bring us as news Alliancewise. Lots of changes to be expected.
I can only speak for 5DV but the majority of us as in more than 95% spend 150hp or less per pvp
Occasionally depending on time constraints maybe MAYBE 300. There are a few of course who actually love the shield hopping aspect but the majority of us don't play that way. It also makes the game pay to 'win' if you consider winning nothing - winning. Spending 20-30k skip tax is ridiculous and shows how out of touch people are with their time and what they consider fun. But to each their own. Some people enjoy shopping for the thrill of handing money over to a cashier I suppose
A ton of players from 5DV, Django, Shield have been here since the beginning. It looks like they spent a ton of money but people like Pasa, Fracky, Ghast have been here winning for getting close to a year. That is why they have complete rosters. They won them the good ole fashioned way. I've bought covers here and there. Mostly as a tip jar. I like the game so here I'll buy that last cover. ISO should never be bought. I wish it wasn't even an option to buy. I think some people just want to be top tier player today and hop on the express lane to the end. I see this game as a mountian climb. The faster you get to the top the less fulfilled you will be in the long run. Everyone just have fun and play at the level you are most comfortable. The people that ruin this game will hopefully get bored and leave as quick as it took them to just buy everything.0 -

Here are some questions and answers for you :
Have I criticized the way you play ? Have I criticized your gameplay ? Your ranking ? Nope
Well, have you experienced playing with a maxed roster ? Nope
Do you know what it's like to play with one, Scaling and MMRwise ? Nope
Are you at the same time trying to rank in a Top 10 Alliance ? Nope
May I try to rank high after I have spent so much time and money ? I guess I may otherwise it is card collecting, and as previously mentioned, I do that better with Magic the Gathering.
Are you trying to rank high in a "not useful" PvE so as to train for a "more useful" one ? Probably not
1- Go ahead Again go ahead My ranking? Top 5 and above in every pvp this season except the last one as i couldnt be bothered, so criticize.
2- I don't need to experience playing with a maxed roster. What does that even mean in this context?
3- Scaling and MMR? HAHAHAHA seriously? facing 166's right from the start....yeah i do that, annoying, but not a problem.
4- Top 10 alliance? Been there, done that. Getting 900 and beyond with 3 and above max characters is easy.
5- You shouldn't have to spent so much time and money to "rank high" as others can testify.
6- Been there, done that too. Your point?
Spend your cash whatever way you want it but don't act as if thats the only way to be successful at the game, like you keep saying. It's not. If i, and others can rank high and get covers that i want, without spending money or tonnes of time, then so should you.0 -
Considering the scores of 5DV on each PvP, 2 shield hops (and up to 4) is impossible to score 1300+
And I am not comparing with my way of playing (since I only reached 1300 once), but on the way most of the best Alliances play.0 -

Says the guy who wants to be casual after Season 3.
Your successful path and strategy led you to give up on the game. Not that I will complain though...
Thanks for confirming that F2P is not the best way to enjoy this game. I'm sure you will think otherwise, but as long as you give up on the game, you have proved enough to me, and I will be satisfied with that.0 -
I'm F2P and I'm much better at the game than you are.0

Wondering what happens the day they turn the MPQ servers off. Is anyone left still playing, and spending money, basically the big winners here? Because I am mightily confused right now.0

Guess I hope a few of my alliance members can chime in as to the possibility of scoring 1300+ with 2 or fewer shields. I've done 1300 with 2 shields once but I have more time constraints than many of my alliance who won't even consider shielding before 1100+
You're playing with the wrong mentality or you're just not very good if you think you need to shield every time you put the game down from 0 on up0 -

sorry Arktos1971, I don't get why you think F2P isn't viable? I am not truely f2p as I spent $25 early on but everything wlse was earned thru play. I don't fault you for spending your good money on the game if you desire but you seem to do out of necessity as the game is almost too much a challenge for you at many points. I did not buy a single healthpack and easily took 1st or 2nd in pvp with 1200+ while earning hp and 3rd in pve that ended same time. Heck, I didn't even need to play last 3 hrs of pve and locked in 3rd so felt no need to push. Most here enjoy the challenge of building their roster but you seem like the challenge for you is to better understand the meta game and play mechanics better (or you don't want to be bothered and would rather just burn more hp). Sorry if it is coming off as rude, not my intent. Just trying to understand you.0 -

If you don't shield, you get attacked immediately and lose hundreds of points in minutes. Then you are low on health and have to buy health pack as you can't play with other chars than the top tier chars.
But you must have a secret tech that hundreds of players don't have...
Weird that of all the guys that score higher than 1100+ per PvP you're the only one spending 150 HP only. Good for you though.0 -

Wow, is that because of the player? That route is quite natural, because this game is stale as it gets. It never offered anything like 'endgame'. The designers never thought of the case when player gets close to maxed roster and when such people started to spread the only ideas were like sharding them together and pushing the 230 enemy cap to 395. And similar hurdles that ensures the better you play the more you are punished with no compensation at all.
The accomplishments you can get here are interesting the first time, maybe for a couple repeats but the next is just repeat of the previous without any addition. So of course people just decide to stay off repeating the same sequence a few more time like grinding robots -- just to get another set of unwanted covers to sell for a drop if ISO.
And a better playing style is only to blame for getting you there faster. But is playing sub-optimally any better or just a longer agony?0 -
Arktos, I sincerely thank you for being this entertaining, don't ever change.0

I can't imagine them not doing another Season at all, it seems that it would really diminish interest in the game. Maybe it will start Wednesday? Maybe it will start earlier but "Heavy Metal" won't be in it? Maybe they're going to a different model to encourage play?
The "Versus" tab sure looks empty....0 -

It is my guess Season 4 will start in a couple of weeks or more.
I think the devs have seen the toll three 28 day-long events have taken on many of the top players.
I also think that once they started with the idea of giving out the new four star via alliance reward one color at a time they were locked in to doing three seasons back-to-back.
I think season 4 could be a hybrid of one 28-day event for a new 4* One color for top 100 Alliance. The other two colors for individual season bracket awards on smaller brackets of 1000 or so. I would also suggest that only two out of three weekly PvP's count towards Season scores or it could be a total PvE Season rerunning shorter runs of the Heroics or like this run of The Hunt.
One thing is for sure we will eventually see what they have in mind.0 -
We've been asking for a break between seasons for a while now and I'm guessing we got it. This is one of those situations where the company really needs to have a presence on the forums, though, to start communicating very basic information.0

Just want to put my 3 cents in this discussion....
It is definitely doable to do 1100+ with 150 HP. My HP budget per event is 300 HP as that is what I get back in rewards. With that 300HP I'm routinely in the 1250-1300 range. So it is definitely possible.0 -
@EvilSonGoku :
Thanks for your comments and questions.
As a prologue, I'll just say I am not patient. And ever since I started playing, my goal was to have a maxed roster. I'm all or nothing. Saying I am not earning covers with play but rather with cash is not quite correct. I play a lot (and perform not so badly lately) so cash spending is not an option. I mainly bought Iso. You and I know that you will never earn enough Iso to catch up and have a maxed roster. It's close to 6 million now. You started 3 months earlier than I did. So you earned 1 million more than I did. And from what I learned on the forum, rewards were far more generous in the beginning. So coverwise, your situation is not comparable to mine. I also joined an Alliance late. And struggled to win the missing covers also. You can't buy them all.
I did not spend the 5000 HP over one single event. It was 3-4 days time (the end of the season). Was late on Sim also. Still, it's 5000 HP I agree, and it's far from being F2P.
PvE : wanted to rank well to get the tiny torch covers and train for future important PvEs (the She-Hulk one was very stressful). Scaling was pretty bad/horrible. When you face 200+ lvl enemies, it's hard to play with the same chars without waiting for healing (same characters you will need for other events because of metagame). Daken/Venom/Bullseye at 190+ is hard to cope with, even with a maxed roster. I could use boosts. But I read that using boosts only makes things worse.
PvP : To date, I don't have any recipe (and I am not the only one in this situation) to deal with attacks without shielding. When you reach 700 you keep on getting attacked, unless you play Daken/Sentry/Featured. But sentry kills your health, and True Healing does not help anymore. You probably tank as hell to progress quickly, but I've done that a couple of times, and though it is very efficient, it is boring and is not so to say a game mechanics. It is circumvention of how the game works. When "True Tanking/Losing" is implemented (we had hints that's going to happen), what will the guys do ? Quit ? Prologue Healing was not fun for me either. And I am sooooooooo sick of OBW.
To cut a long story short, I'm learning how to play with less HP and play better at the same time. It takes longer than for other guys for sure. Yet, I don't want my Alliance to suffer from this situation, hence my HP spending. Honestly, I don't care less about PvPs, I am a PvE guy (I'm Top 5 on each of them), but PvP is all that counts for Season scoring. I want the rewards of a Top 10 Alliance, so I need to do what's requested to do so. Only fair attitude I think. I do not need to buy Iso anymore, I earn enough to max all my chars (maxed XF, TinyTorch and Fury lately).
So my second goal was to eventually cut on spendings, and July will be the first month where I spend so little on the game.
I'm glad you can rank so high on a budget. For the time being, I simply can't. But I'm learning.
I never suggested that I was a good player. As long as people spend so much on skip tax, shield hop and boosts to perform, I will not feel the need to perform well. I am just buying health packs, and sometimes boosts when I run out of them and I truly need to do so to stay in the Top 5 to get the rewards.
Hope you have a better understanding of my point of view. Thank you for your time and interest.0
