Is the game dying?

There has been a ton of constructive criticism on these boards. A lot of posters feel it has been ignored. The latest changes seem to have pushed people over the edge, so now you're seeing the frustrations boiling over.MaxxPowerz said:Obviously, vaulting is the answer from the devs. While unpopular with the more seasoned players, it is crucial for the longevity of the game. Maybe this results in a product that many don't care for anymore, but very little of the criticism I'm hearing is actually constructive.

I think this is spot on. Bad changes are one thing, but when you keep ignoring everyone that has legit problems while continuing to make more bad changes. Doesn't help when you contact support with legit issues and they tell you that addressing the issue would hold up answering other tickets and that they refuse to offer support.Partyof5 said:

New crash of the titans - Elektra's Ballet of Death is bugged. Good job.0

I'm definitely jaded but I finally accepted this is the bad loot box version of the game. Throw out long term vision, balance, and continuity and make over powered shiny things for people to fiend for. The design philosophy is now "the latest 12 are going to dwarf everyone else in the tier, so why does vaulting matter? Balance and foundational/good game design? That was MPQ 1.0."
I'm reminded of an Extra Credits video on YouTube on accretion -

Seems like the direction they are charging ahead on now. Doesn't sound great for long-term life of the game.2 -
Ballet of Death is supposed to steal your AP while on the board. Brigby claims that decs are aware that it steals AP even when the trap is not on the board.DarthDeVo said:
In what way? Haven't had the chance to play it yet.Alsmir said:New crash of the titans - Elektra's Ballet of Death is bugged. Good job.
She was also buffed recently. Has that been taken into account?
What I observed is that it correctly steals AP from you, but if you have 0 AP in a given colour it just generates AP for Electra.
I was quite surprised when she was firing power after power, untill I realised that even when I have no AP to steal she manages to generate AP.0 -
I didn't notice the Trap stealing AP while it wasn't there (my purple didn't go down)
or maybe it doesn't steal AP while you're invisible
not sure which since I was only visible for two of her turns

I echo everyone else who says there HAS been some great, constructive suggestions that have either been ignored, or the developer responses to them have been questionable.MaxxPowerz said:I find that these discussions tend to ignore the elephant in the room: the growing disparity that new players must face. How is a game to survive if it can not add new players, and how are new players ever going to build a roster with almost 200 characters? There are thousands of covers to collect, and the thought of getting a working roster under the pre vaulting system must be daunting.
Obviously, vaulting is the answer from the devs. While unpopular with the more seasoned players, it is crucial for the longevity of the game. Maybe this results in a product that many don't care for anymore, but very little of the criticism I'm hearing is actually constructive.
Creating an avenue for newer players to "catch up" (I.e. Latest 12) is great except it was implemented so ham-fistedly that it took away more than it gave (champ levels for vets, progression for transitioners, essential characters for newbs, and on and on)- and (this is the important part) it DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY. Even if we concede it was in the best interest of new players (which I don't agree with), it alienated many transitioners and vets when in reality giving just ONE token/CP avenue to progress vaulted 4s could have created a situation in which all parties are happy and have an avenue to progress.
I also feel that the game is crushing under the weight of its own economy. Right now there are just too many characters. I can't see how this game can possibly be free to play for anyone just starting the game today. Roster and Iso costs are astronomical for a new player, but D3 doesn't seem to want to adjust them, I'm guessing out of fear that it'll impact their bottom line. Their vet whales are still paying (if they haven't left), so why switch up? Vaulting is merely a wet band-aid for new players. Sure they have less to focus on, but other characters are still essential and even more inaccessible. While the costs to champ 4s before they hit the graveyard are high as well. Lowering the champ costs and roster slot costs would be a much much bigger improvement for newbs to get them to the 5* tier than vaulting.10 -
I didn't notice her trap stealing AP after zero or after it was matched away bc she didn't last that long.Alsmir said:New crash of the titans - Elektra's Ballet of Death is bugged. Good job.0 -
I noticed the same bug mentioned, but I was specifically watching only my black ap which was always at 0 since I wasn't gathering it. Invis or not, Elektra's red was still giving 1 black ap each turn. Wasn't paying attention if this was happening in the beginning of the fight before Ballet got out.Summer Glau said:I didn't notice the Trap stealing AP while it wasn't there (my purple didn't go down)

Regardless of the state of the game.
i'm at a point where I'm about willing to give up.
it's boring. There are too few events and not enough content is being released.
Even in the form of characters.
Keeping the new tiers of play and new characters away from players sucks.
Since maybe 2 events are releases like a year at this point, there's nothing new here. Nothing exciting. It feels more like killing time just to kill time than something I want to engage with.
vaulting sucked and knocked a years worth of progress away from me personally. Now players that weren't transitioning to 4 for a year like me, have new 4's champed, while I'm just sitting around with a bunch of characters old and new between 2 and 10 covers. Now I have to keep racing to cover these 4's leaving the packs that are still locked behind far too many layers of RNG.

People are probably just taking breaks waiting for something exciting to come around because the content stretches this game has are ridiculous. And it's crazy because this has been one of the best years for console gaming in like half decade, it's just made it more apparent, for me anyway, how uninteresting the design is here.0

No not quite, just badly thought out.Alsmir said:New crash of the titans - Elektra's Ballet of Death is bugged. Good job.
One power steals Ap, one power generates Ap.
She can get to a point where she generates enough tiles to constantly give her 10 Ap in black so that you need casscades to win.
it's more over-tuned than it is bugged.0 -
I'm not sold on dying. I downloaded a hacked Magic the gathering puzzle quest. Got all the goods etc, maxed planeswalkers and cards and while it's similar mechanics, this game is superior so they are doing something's right. With MagicPQ it's more complex and sometimes simpler is better1
