I just don't understand how they can have an event featuring 4* luke cage but have him as the required node and we have no way to get him.

    That's just dumb.

Juggernaut:Heroic is crippling enough as it is. This just makes it worse.

This is embarrassing. Why roll out a system that you just have to roll back right away because you didn't think it through? What's the harm, really, in giving new characters in progression rewards for high clearance levels? Characters with a single cover are just warming a roster slot anyway. And if giving away 1/13th of a new character is really that bad, just replace that reward with an existing 4*.

New character releases are awful because your PvE placement system is broken. Having them also revert to **** old progression schemes just means a week-long pause in the game. This is foolish and you should be embarrassed.

I'd be happier if I didn't get the vault.

Can't they just let me whale in peace?

I'm so exhausted by new covers all the time that I don't even care that new Luke Cage isn't in Heroic Juggs. Another lone 4* cover taking up a roster slot sure doesn't do me any good. Hell, I'm still trying to fully cover all my 3-stars...

My theory is they weren't happy with the amount of stuff they 'gave away' with the first run of clearance levels so they put the breaks on it to dial it down.

the lack of communication on this is just brutal though. at the very least just make something up to placate the masses.

^This is by far the most infuriating thing about the recent spate of largely positive changes. The devs implement a positive change, it's greeted with (mostly) overwhelming approval, and then they silently undo half of it a week or two later.

e.g. "We changed PvE to increase participation" turns into "Oh, that's too little a challenge, so we're moving scaling back up" AND "Max progression is too easy, so we're ratcheting it up higher than it was before" (In their defense, max progression was too easy for 1-2 events, but they've unsurprisingly adjusted too far in the wrong direction.)

The ridiculous thing is that if they skipped out on the middle step, it would still be seen as an improvement, but they seem hellbent on infuriating players by taunting them with glimpses of a truly enjoyable playing experience before taking it away. Not to mention the fact that the game has been literally unplayable for segments of the Android audience since R109.

I do appreciate the changes they've made, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with the imagined generosity they feel compelled to walk back. Too many happy forum members?

I'm betting that they saw a lot of players in CL7 who played enough to get the 4* progression reward, then stopped entirely. Since the 25 CP final reward is spread across the whole progression chart now, you can easily get more reward value out of doing this than under the old system - no need for a final push on each sub, even.

As long as they continue to treat 4* covers as special uber-rare shiny trinkets, and not as things that are made to be played with by ordinary people, this is going to be the case. It's already frustrating to casual 3* players that the only characters who ever get released these days are 4* and 5*; week after week they see hype and advertising in game about a brand new character that most of them can never hope to obtain (at a usable level) for at least 6 months.

I can't believe that. There's no reason to stop before getting the final cp, if you've already gotten that far.

All these conspiracy theories, when the most obvious answer is that they turned it off for R&G, and the went home for the weekend and no one remembered to turn it back on for Juggs.

Agreed, no one would stop there, it would be quite silly.

There is no CL in this event so we don't get a 'free' Luke cover in progression. Most sales for new chars come from tokens sold the first time he is featured in PvE and PvP, so Devs don't want to give one cover as progression so early, they want to get some sales from tokens first. BUT you might be right and they might just forgot, they have a long history of forgetting to turn ON or OFF things like this in the past.

Thing is, while max progression might be easier to get than normal, the way to fix that isn't to keep the same prizes and spread them out further. To make people happy you just add more prizes.
Add another 1000 ISO and another 50HP or something. Two more prizes put somewhere in the middle and there you go, you've got your higher placement reward.

Simple solution that fixes the issue and gives the player something extra. Everyones happy. But instead they'd choose to go the route of negativity. It's just weird.

Then they should've made a different 4* the award.

With CL7, the rewards actually made story mode worth playing. Great rewards, more ISO, split CP. Two story modes and gone? The developers need to leave it how it was, period. 1 4* character for progression is not game breaking in the slightest. You need so many cards to make a 4* worth playing in the first place. Both times CL7 was available, I played all the way to 15cp.

Except... there's only one Luke cover in the J:H vault. If you wanted to whale Luke, you had to buy 40s in R:G. So I guess I fail to see why J:H had to have the 4* taken out of progression. It would've taken at least 2 days to work your way up to that 4* progression cover, by which time the R:G token shop would've been closed anyway. Hence the whales would have whaled.

Meh. I guess it's futile thinking where Demiurge wants to take this game. Part of me is surprised it's still here; I didn't give it good odds on making anniversary #3, but here we still are.

If you want to whale the new character, the PvP token shop is the best Place to go - if you can wait that long. The chance to get Luke covers there is almost 5% if you buy packs. That one has yet to open.

Guess I'm silly then, that is the perfect place to stop for me with regards to reward/time.
