Finished sub 1 in 2nd place, used ONE team the entire grind (3 hours) Iceman boosted to 354, IM40 127, Phoenix 345. Would've preferred to use my OML to protect IM40 but EOTS locks him out.

Anyway, I don't have it in me to immediately hit sub 2 6x. Maybe later

If the pve stays the way it is after his trial run, I think my days of playing mpq are over. The increase of levels is way too difficult. After winning once or twice the battles are unbeatable. I will never be able to upgrade my 4 or 5* if I can't win to get crystals to be competitive. That's unfortunate because I've played this game over a year straight now. The ones that are successful it seems are the players with at least 5+ covers for a 5*. I'll put my money into some other game i guess

I just about scraped Top 100 on sub #1, having completed the initial 6 clears of each node plus a couple more clears of a few of the easier ones. (Well, I say "easier", but level 250+ enemies - with my 3* roster and no maxed 4*s - are usually only reserved for the hardest PVE nodes, so...) The same amount of effort in a "regular" PVE would've gotten me Top 20 easily, perhaps Top 10 if I fell into a lucky bracket.

I do get the feeling that we're judging this event more harshly because it contains ninja goons, which have some very frustrating techniques for dealing lots of damage very quickly. 2* Wolverine plus red feeders isn't much fun to face either; you will be eating regular Adamantium Slashes and short of keeping him stunned (thank god for boosted Daredevil) there isn't much you can do about it. Caltrops, Turn to Smoke... it's all a recipe for frustration. For these types of matches, you need to go in with specialised counters. Unfortunately, if they're not boosted, the scaling will render most characters useless...

    Cons:
    - Nodes with 1 reward are pain... seriously.
I am not really sure whether this is part of this change or not but i dont like it.
    - Nodes should have 2 times more rewards when event takes 2 days instead of one
    - Ballance is rough. I cant imagine PvEs with limited hero pick. Yes, i have many covers (all of them actually) but i am lacking like 2M ISO to max them all out.
    - TOP players has 35K points, we need over 150K points to get CPs. I am not sure whether this is reachable. I will edit this later to let know how i ended.

    Pros:
    - I am not limited by nodes overfilling/emptiness which is great

The whole idea of "play whenever you want" is a good one. It is made completely worthless when all of the nodes are scaled out after two clears of a map.

The first example of it being a 2 day sub with survival nodes also is pointless, because you'll hit a brick wall super early and just have the event on a backburner while you have to play other things.

after almost 3 days, I came to the conclusion it's boring. It drains ALL my free time if I want to get full rewards / drains all my life if I want to finish top 10

I really fail to understand why we only get 1 designated reward on the wave nodes. They're harder and take longer, so why oh why is there only one Reward?

My top end nodes are just as hard and my early nodes are much harder. That makes clears take a lot longer, which isn't fun.

The only nodes I felt were scaled properly were the essentials.

this PVE is so terrible, i entered right at the beginning to test out, no easy nodes, have to grind every node to 20, ugh....it's just stupid. Scaling is dumb, lowest match is level 262 after beating it once. my one suggestion for scaling is they don't take 5* into account for PVE till they're at 3 covers(level 300) that way you can keep your 5*'s without them screwing your scaling and give you time to get your roster caught up to what your 5* is at.

To echo what others have said and to lend my two cents...

The changes made are a good attempt to "fix" the problems with PVE, but my take so far is that it feels like more of a grind even though this is one of the things they're trying to alleviate. "Play when you want" is a good thing, but the scaling is still in need of significant tweaking. As others have said, the first 3 "trivial" nodes need to be throttled back and the enemy level increase after each clear does as well. After two or three clears the enemies have jumped around 30 levels and matches quickly get out of control.

Being forced to use the same 4 or 5 characters for the entire sub is frustrating and results in not much more than a health pack sink.

It's a good start, but it does need adjustment. Let's hope the data gathered reflects what is being said and what we're all saying is factored into future changes.

I am really liking the new format. Maybe it is because I don't try to get all the rewards or grind for top 10. I am not getting to a point where the enemies are impossible to beat. I am playing with a Blade/Ant-Man/4* Thor team that is eating these goons for breakfast. Maybe in other events I would have a harder time, but right now I have no issue with it as it suits my play style and playing habits.

I hate this new format. I play competitively or at least more competitive than casual and i can say that the full grind in the beginning to maximise points is a 'rage quit' moment. I have never wished for more bad things to happen to the devs than any other time. I have a full roster and have all the characters except a few 5*. My 3* are my main team. More than half are champed. My older 4* are at level 145 to 155. My 5* are at 255 (OML and SS at 2 covers each and Spiderman with 1).

I played casual on the first day of the sub and it was ok. Intersperse my playing throughout my workday and had more than enough health packs. However as others have pointed out, i was using the same characters for high level enemies that i normally do for almost all the nodes. Boosted characters didnt help much.

On second sub i went full throttle after the sub started (+2 hours) and it took me 5 hours(!!!) to complete all 6 clears of all the nodes except for the difficult Wolverine/Goon/Goon node. Now that is madness and i'm not doing it again. This was the time i started wishing ill of the devs. I then completed that node when i woke up in the morning and a few hours later i did a few clears of the wave nodes and completed the 7th clear of all the nodes for the rewards before calling it quit for this sub.

As of this moment, with 1 hour left, on the clock before the sub ends and i'm at number 1. Now i know based on my previous experiences that this is not 'normal'. Most of the people on my leaderboard arent even completing all 7 clears and i suspect they've just given up. Most of them aren't vets with strong rosters either. Which leads me to think that this test of the devs have become flawed since i suspect a significant portion of the vet population arent even playing as they normally do. I'm not sure how the numbers will be like but i think it would have gotten a lot more participation if they had only tripled or quadrupled the value of the iso rewards. As it is now, it's just a pain to play and if i wasnt doing it for the iso or my alliance, i would have stopped too. Even some of my alliance members have given up because of the scaling.

I'm sure this has been said already, but perhaps testing scaling that makes things harder on a 7 day event full of kishu, teisatsu, wave nodes, and wolvie and gorgon being fed red wasn't the best idea.

Second day on PVE and i pass. Don't wanna waste healthpacks out PVP and Ultron/Galactus events.

Reading the thread comments i think the "test" fails.

The thing is that it doesn't fail completely, there are things that it does do right such as increasing the flexibility for the majority of players and the communication from the devs has been much better than usual.

The clear failures for me have been the abusive scaling in general, the mistaken belief that we wanted the trivial nodes brought closer to the hard ones and not vice versa, the increased grind for those chasing placements with the way they have badly setup the timer stuff and the lack of clarity on survival nodes.

If they had left trivial nodes roughly how they were previously, lowered the starting point of the hard nodes and found some way to have a placement tiebreaker that didn't lead to a vast increased grind (e.g. nodes lock after 6 clears and then reopen 1-2 hours before end of sub, thus everyone gets increased flexibility) then this new system could work.

I dont have much to say. Except i logged in played one node in sub three and then force quit right after. Can summarize my enthusiam with for the test with that. Its not fun. I play games to enjoy myself. This direction for PVE is diametrically opposed to that notion.

At this point it's more fun for me to sit here and read this thread than to play the game because A) misery loves company and B) this game totally sucks now.

Although I did have a moment of clarity. They did us all a great disservice by creating a game that is so addicting. Perhaps, for our benefits, they are trying to cure us of our addictions.
  • Maybe I'm not paying real close attention but the scaling seems like a waste of time. I plat competitively when I have the free time which isn't very often. The rewards should be better for repeat clears. I did this twice on the first sub. First time I got 70 iso-8, second I got 100. Well La-de-da. I didn't see any real incentive to keep going back.

Not sure if anyone else has suggested this, but what if there was a mix of nodes that leveled up and ones that didn't? Say maybe the trivials (or even just one node other than loaner) just stayed the same and the others went up.
I look at this as similar to the old arcade games difficulty. There wasn't a way to make a lot of content because of memory issues. So it got harder as you went. But when you put the quarter in you could guess that you could ease in with one or two levels that weren't hard.
This new PVE is ok at first but only lets you play the easier level once. Once you complete it you know that it's 24-48 hours before it gets easy again. Making that next play session that day much less appealing.
