Testing the waters to see if they can reduce amount of events/server space/workforce and keep users/revenue flowing?

They cannot possibly be using a significant amount of bandwidth or server space...they do everything client-side and push updates through the app stores.

If they were reducing workforce we'd see new characters stop showing up on schedule. Creating events had to be done by hand pre-Unity (and maybe still now?) but it was just a copy/paste job supposedly. They spend their time on characters.

I think they skipped a boss event not too long ago because they were screwing around with the rewards and hadn't decided what they were yet. It's probably something dumb like that.

I would be curious to know what did the most monetary damage to the game, the cover swap/buy club event or Unity implementation, thoughts? I would bet Unity caused more to quit but I’m not sure it cost them more revenue. An autopsy of the Broken Circle era would be interesting.

I think the boycott or whatever is still ongoing, so I don't think there's any way to tell.

It's not even a boycott anymore. The buy clubs just don't exist. Most players or still playing, and even spending, but not in the numbers they used to spend on the game.

Buy Clubs did bring in a nice chunk of change, sometimes several nice chunks of change a day. Someone posted in May/June of 2025 some revenue numbers from the financial statements. There was a significant drop in revenue starting last Dec 2024 when they took away the cover swaps. I haven't seen any numbers since then (especially around when Unity was "released") so can't tell what impact it had on month over month.

I truly wonder if this can possibly hold true. Playing daily for 11 years, this is the first time I recall opening the app and finding no PVE event... It's sad, really.

It did happen quite a bit in the very early days, but it's been a really long time. I wonder what happened.

Sad, nonetheless. I had really just decided to come back in earnest, and they decide to go away

I do wonder what'd happen if they started giving us stuff that was worth buying/required to win. I have a feeling they'd start up again. But they don't seem interested in doing that for whatever reason.

The only thing worth buying in any sense are 6s. They are apparently treating them as a carrot to retain the existing players more than as a way to inject revenue short term and burn people out. This is probably smart given the general state of the remaining player base. Who's around that will really open their wallets at this point?

As far as revenue since Unity it is slightly lower than the half of the year before it. All of 2025 was lower than all of 2024 except for Oct which tied the 3 lowest months in 2024.

They undeniably drove off a bunch of people which obviously results in spending less.

It is impossible to know what they consider "enough" money to keep the game running in some capacity.

We don't know. It's possible that they've burned out the entire world population -- all players who ever did or ever would spend money on MPQ, including players who haven't even heard of the game yet.

But we can't tell for sure, because they're not selling anything right now.

I'm still waiting for missions or events, I think the game went on vacation....

There are definitely a lot of the buy club members still around. I see the names in PVP and PVE leaderboards. I think there are still people who would spend money. Just no reason to right now.

If the 6* shards/covers were available to purchase, the buy clubs would slowly rouse themselves.
I agree completely with others who have mentioned that the way they are rolling out 6’s has shown admirable restraint.
My worry is that was then and the new devs are now. Their vision for 6* attainability might be different.
I am hopeful now that we have three in game things continue as they’ve been.

The new devs are the internal team owned by Digital Bros who run Puzzle Quest 3 and Gems of War.

One thing they won't do is suddenly decide to change up their 6* distribution plan because they're working on the game.

The publisher remains the exact same publisher - the same company that has done it since 2013. They used to be d3go, now they're called 505go. They have different owners now vs then, but the Digital Bros have owned them since 2022.

Just because different people are code-monkeying won't mean anything profoundly different will happen around how fast or slowly we get 6s. So far it seems like their goal is to use them to keep us playing as a very very slow build continues, barring spending on small dribbles of shards if you want.

The publisher is the one with the "vision" for 6* attainability, influenced heavily, I'm sure, by the Digital bros who ultimately are the ones who get the money and pay them. This is the same it has always been for the game's life; the people at the tippy top mostly just want more money, and don't care as much about the players beyond how much we are spending, and sometimes make decisions that seem wrong or shortsighted in service or trying to pressure more spending. Welcome to capitalism etc.

Right now I think they think having 6s as a very long term carrot works in their favor to keep us here grinding away instead of being fed up and/or being "finished" once you 550 the metas and have a bunch of rank 5 supports, like a whole lot of players have done now.

Can you guys do LESS!! I’ve never seen such disdain for a loyal customer base. Many of us have been playing for a decade. And the devs are taking a break? Laughable. You all Continue to show that you just don’t care about your customers. BTW, when do you think people play the most? The holidays. I’m growing to loathe this game daily and to loathe the devs even more as they fix nothing and take everything. Did I mention how much it sucks since you took over?

You seem to be doing a fine job of turning yourself into an hilarious stereotype, so not sure how I could troll you better than what you are doing to yourself.

If you have been playing for a decade then you would know that D3Go/505 have always closed for Christmas (and Thanksgiving, etc). We are in a unique situation where one Dev has essentially "fired" the other and that has left a gap in missing out on an event. Games close down for maintenance all the time, not quite the same but it happens.

What "everything" have the Devs taken from you and which Devs did that as we have more than one.

I do wish we could get some examples of other free to play phone games that are "respectful" of their players. Like, does Candy Crush treat its veteran players with respect? Genshin Impact? Fortnite?

It's hard to know what respect means in this context and how it's expressed by game developers.
