Everyone already knows who the next people are to be nerfed. They said it before, they also said there shouldn't be any surprise characters (and there aren't, yet). Here is you list of next to be nerfed (in no specific order):
- MThor
- IronMay
- Maybe ShangChi
If they're smart, they'll add Sam5 to that list also (it's not Juggernauts fault).
I refuse to believe people don't see how far out of balance any these characters are. So, I will just assume everyone is more just frustrated about their investments, which is valid, they never should have let them go this long unchecked, and they have a rough history with balancing.
I think a lot of people agree that SC is very strong, but not very worrisome. The computer uses his powers stupidly, so he's usually not great on defense. I used to use him all the time when I was new to scl10, but since then...very rarely. If they have numbers that he's being used a lot it's more people with crummier rosters lol, or new people that have been told (rightly) by everyone to make him their first 5* champ.
Also, I think juggs is definitely the bigger problem in the juggs/sam combo. Yeah omega and others can do aoe damage reliably, but juggs can do it multiple times a turn. And he's so damn beefy you kind of have to take down Sam first and hope it's not too late. With other teams, you can take out the aoe person (or OR's CD) first.
I disagree - Juggs without Sam isn't great. Sure you can use another damage booster like Okoye, Apocalpyse, or 5SWitch but all of those are pretty slow and in their own ways fairly limited. While Sam isn't OP otherwise, the fact that Juggs generates an AoE on every match makes Sam's power ludicrously overpowered, particularly when cascades are a thing that happens. If they limited Sam to triggering once per turn, or even once per move/cascade, I think it would be fine.
This guy gets it. Juggs is nothing but a match damage meat shield without Sam or IronMay. Get rid of them, he is no longer top tier.

I feel like a lot of us are forgetting one of the main reasons for these changes. Just because someone is simple to beat, or not as OP anymore because new characters are even more OP, doesn't change the fact that they are OP.
If one character has similar abilities to another, or even just uses the same colors, but one of those characters does it waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the other, there is no longer a reason for people to play any of those other characters (especially when everything currently is based on speed).
I love Monica Ramby (true, I actually do), a battery / board shake character with Pink and Red actives. Shang Chi is also those things, which one do I choose, or recommend other people also choose? This is why the balance is bad. They want to promote people trying other characters, not the same 4 over and over again.

Have to say I absolutely agree with this. I suspect 90% or more of the characters in this game rarely see play once players have a decently fleshed out roster.
These nerfs, and hopefully adding more team slots, would go a long way to helping people quickly mix up their play styles.
Even if they nerf M’baku, (which I’d be sad about, having heavily invested in him) there are plenty of other viable teams out there for achieving full SCL10 PvE progression, they just might not be as fast1 -

I use Juggs & Sam for the Lightning Rounds just to knock out a few quick wins on the Seed nodes, and because I don't care about retals and losing points, or really even the placement rewards.
I use Shang-Chi with Namor (Rivals) in regular PvP events because with careful play and the right Supports I can take down a Juggs/Sam team, but I can also usually easily hit other teams.
And as a bonus, by running Shang-Chi & Namor (who's still a 3) rather than Juggs & Sam I get hit a lot, typically by Juggs & Sam players, but also by folks with irregular teams. Maybe a Champion Surfer, or Gambit, or Black Panther, but flanked by 3s or 4s.
And those teams are easy to take down with Shang-Chi & Namor, and so we probably trade retals up to 25 or even 50 wins, at which point if my score is decent and there's less than 24 hours remaining I'll shield out.

It's insane. Could you imagine acting like this in real life? Just go eat at a different Applebee's, man, it ain't that deep.
How dare you, sir! I haven't set foot in a Crapplebee's in 10+ years!

Played about 20 matches with buff Hawk and I'm not sure his infinite can stop? Definitely easier than Moonstone4's and completely self contained. Some interesting decisions being made over there.
I put him with the new Sunguy for fun:

I can see the new nerf list for wave 2 now
:
1. Moonstone2
2. Hawkeye1I doubt they'll actually nerf Hawk though.

I wonder if Hawkeye is "allowed" to go infinite like that because he doesn't have any damage acceleration on his own? I haven't messed around with him, but I imagine without some kind of help he's too slow for us competitive players.
Dunno. They do make weird decisions.

Can only guess why they would "allow" it. You do need to be somewhat smart about placement as it's not guaranteed and it can take a bit of time...
He works well with coulson and hobgoblin to speed up the winfinite*
1) No, Coulson doesn't need 1 Hawkeye for winfinite.
*2) Hawkeye doesn't need Coulson either.
*3) But together they speed things up.
I used this team in simulator and easily beat Nova/ihulk, ascended MBaku/Namor, and a list of others. (Actually saw a lot of Polaris teams... Must be being tested)
Anyway with Corvus Glaive and quantum realm supports (and/or AP boosts) starting with 5 purple wasn't difficult. I occasionally needed to survive one round but that was only a concern when facing Nova/ihulk/chasm (I'll get to that at the end)
Fire off arrows with Hawkeye, activate CDs with Hobgoblin, watch the board cascade into oblivion, fire more arrows if needed. It was fairly fast without being instant and mindless.
Back to Nova/ihulk/Chasm...I faced that team because I was facing whatever came up to test my team. I started stunned, enemy Nova went airborne, I ate that damage... Then it was my turn and Chasm was the first to go down, followed by IHulk.... He kept coming back of course, until he didn't.
He went down a few times, then I cleared the team ups with Hobgoblin blue... Hulk went down a few times during the cascades then just stayed down.
Cleared the board of charged tikes with Hawkeye red then waited for Nova to land and fired off purple until she went down. It took longer for me to write this than play it.
Anyway... Not likely a new meta but feels like a solid option.

I haven’t read all comments, so sry if I am repeating someone else:
SamJugg is STILL dominating Lightning rounds where supports are off limits.

The new weeklong Anniversary vault has both Sam and Juggs in it. And Juggs was already in the main Anniversary vault.
Either they don’t care about putting characters into the big Anniversary vaults and nerfing them a little later, or they have no plans to nerf SamJuggs.

MPQ isn't a contractor, it's a restaurant (god help me, it's another metaphor).Yeah, you used to love it, but they fired the chef and changed the menu and now you hate all the food there. Instead of just going to a different restaurant, like a sane person would do, you keep eating food you hate, hoping something will magically change and it'll go back to the way it was.
Oh, and now they're going out of business because nobody pays for the food anymore, but you still won't stop going there and loudly screaming suggestions that they completely ignore. If they'd just make all the changes you want, they could stay in business! You'd start paying again! They could be successful! You keep saying how much you love the place and don't want it to close and love the community there, but you're not giving them any money until they change x, y, and z, and if they close down, oh well.
It's insane. Could you imagine acting like this in real life? Just go eat at a different Applebee's, man, it ain't that deep.
I'll run with that.
In my scenario the tables and chairs are all wobbly, the crockery is chipped and the cutlery is mismatched, the windows are cracked and repaired with tape, and the A/C doesn't work.
But the staff are attentive and make you feel welcomed, and the food is amazing, so you keep going back.
You just wish MANAGEMENT would stop being cheap, do their job, and take the time to ensure everything is fixed.

Juggernaut's boost was tied to his match's tile destruction damage to specifically prevent him working with Okoye/Apocalypse from launch. I had a whole thread one time about powers that based on their in-game wording SHOULD work with Wakanda Forever but don't, as well as a number of exceptions that behave exactly like the ones that don't from the player's front-end-only perspective but do. For instance 2* Black Widow's match damage based additional damage DOES get boosted by WF, and Juggernaut's does not.

So you like the individual developers (the staff) but don't like the decisions the game's management are making? What a bizarre distinction to draw! How can you tell who's responsible for what?
Also it really, really, really doesn't sound like you think the game itself is "amazing."

Underused characters? There are probably ways to fix them:
- There could be a bug or technical issue that is (still) not adressed like Elektras shadowstep.
- There could be a one time ability that can get a second use like 4*R&Gs yellow.
- There could be an ability that is too limited in its use like 2*Moonstones black.
- There could be an ability that is useless without other characters like 3*Colossus' black.

You sure it's not the 799 toons w May or Namor?

I understand some folks don't want to see the same folks in PVP all the time, but I feel like increasing difficulty on PVE at the same time of taking away powerful characters make it feel like "You are supposed to lose" all over again.
But I think my biggest complaint is now I'm scared to open packs because my faves might be nerfed into oblivion, wasting my pulls.

Definitly not, because as beefy as that sounds it has nothing to do with lightning rounds where no toons are boosted and supports are not available. I am solemnly talking about lightning rounds in my post.

If you’re worried about this, why don’t you favourite someone else who hasn’t been floated as a potential nerf target, and continue opening packs?
There are lots of good options that will help you beat the new SCL10.
What does your current roster look like? (what stage of the game are you at?)
Happy to offer some suggestions, or you can check out the ascension thread?
Frankly it looks like the combo of Red Skull, Zemo and Zola will be pretty beefy once RS hits LLs0
