New Character - Baron Zemo (Helmut Zemo) 5*

It's a game. Roster the character or don't. People trying to be victims over a game.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to the art team who decided for whatever reason that Zemo needed the most elaborate set of attack animations we'd seen in...awhile. Good job on the visuals.

I did however, turn the sound effects on recently, at very low volume. Barely audible. Quite nice, subtle emphasis.
But not the music tho. Mindless droning, nope, nope, nope.

I appreciate that Zemo has his own custom CD graphic so you can visually see an approximation of dmg you can do if one expires or you trigger one.

I don't know about all of this back-and-forth debating about the right and wrong of certain characters.
I mean, we have Mephisto - essentially the Marvel equivalent of Lucifer.
He deals in human souls as currency, bringing misery and woe to anyone who has the misfortune of dealing with him. He would happily toss you into a fiery abyss and watch you burn in torment without a second thought. Evil personified...I don't recall people losing their minds and threatening to leave or boycott when he arrived in the MPQ.
We also have Thanos.
This mofo wants to erase half of all life in the universe. Not just one particular group of people (and you can fill in the blank with anything you want on this one - pizzamakers, Libertarians, barbershop quartets, Idahoans, stamp collectors...), but half of everybody. How is this dude not the absolute zenith for despicable characters? Nope, he apparently doesn't even move the outrage needle.
My point is that game is already chock full of characters who want to rule the world, or enslave it, or destroy it, or eat it. So I find it really hilarious that a humanoid character, who just so happens to be aligned with one ideology or another, could possibly warrant such an extreme reaction.
Comic book villains are bad (mmkay) - it just comes with the territory. The only thing that matters is how they perform in the game, the rest is just pixels and gratuitous punches.

Nazis are real people who actually existed and killed real people in the real world.
Thanos is an imaginary space alien or whatever who has never killed a real person.
How is this at all difficult to understand? It feels like being willfully obtuse at this point.

Just as a reminder, political posts are off limits.
For total clarity about where the line is:
Historical context to characters is fine, and historical figures and their appropriateness for appearing in the game is also fine as long as it complies with the other forum rules e.g. it is not used to promote hate.Posting about what some current politician said, or didn't, about the historical period in question, that has no direct relevance to the game or Marvel characters is not fine.
Mod mode off
My personal view is that there is a separation between characters such as Baron Zemo and Red Skull and real world Nazis, past and present. They are characters in a historical setting that was awful, but they are fictional. Hitler was a real person that was awful. I can see (and to some extent agree with) the argument for not having real people in the game, but not fictional characters. I don't know much about Zemo or Red Skull as characters or what they did/do either so that naivety is probably a contributing factor to my viewI've known survivors of sexual assault and can very much imagine that Purple Man could be very triggering for them but only if the story was played out in the game or they had read the back story, but they'd have avoided being exposed to that. As a result, Purple Man in Latveria fighting Doombots doesn't get huge pushback.
I also say this as a middle-aged straight, white man who has never faced persecution or abuse for my race, religion or sexual orientation. I'm in no way saying that my view is correct or that the view of anyone who disagrees is less valid. Indeed, I've no way of knowing how I'd think if I wasn't.

The entire thread is so weird. Like 2 people expressed some very mild discomfort with a hypothetical future character (seriously, go back and read what they said) and now there's this several-day, increasingly aggressive ongoing dogpile going "suck it up snowflake!"
Why do people get so worked up about any of this? If somebody is uncomfortable let them be uncomfortable. There's no petition campaign, and nobody is holding protests.

So now we have had a chance to use him, I definitely didn't find him much fun.

I get that point of view. But by discussing discomfort openly, it adds understanding on all sides and that's not a bad thing. It's not a competition or an attempt to convert someone to your point of view, just learning about how other people think.

I think this would hold a lot more weight if anyone was trying to understand why those one or two people were uncomfortable, instead of continuously yelling that they're wussy, whiny victims who should just shut up.

He's very versatile and works great with characters that have low cost abilities like 5* Hawkeye or those who generate a lot of AP. Not sure how impactful he will be when not boosted though but I'm enjoying him so far with Winter Soldier and Meteorite as well .
Not meta changing by any means but I like that

Oh the Thunderbolts thing! I still haven’t champed K4rla so had forgot about her black AP thing which I guess works well with Zeno. I can’t lie, I am a bit Nova struck but will give Thunderbolts a try when I have more Zemo.

I think it would happen a lot more if people didn't massively exaggerate opposing opinions.

Ah, I'm sorry. Do you mean folks like the poster I quoted above, who's obviously seriously trying to understand another's viewpoint and not just dismissing them as whiny victims?

Nope - that's another example of someone massively exaggerating an opposing opinion.

FWIW, adding Red Skull to the game may get it banned in China. So it may just be a monetary reason. China's Ministry of Culture forbids:
- Gambling-related content or game features
- Anything that violates China’s constitution
- Anything that threatens China’s national unity, sovereignty, or territorial integrity.
- Anything that harms the nation’s reputation, security, or interests.
- Anything that instigates racial/ethnic hatred, or harms ethnic traditions and cultures.
- Anything that violates China’s policy on religion by promoting cults or superstitions.
- Anything that promotes or incites obscenity, drug use, violence, or gambling.
- Anything that harms public ethics or China’s culture and traditions.
- Anything that insults, slanders, or violates the rights of others.
- Other content that violates the law
Also, some replies are a perfect example of how fragile and uninformed certain perspectives can be.

This place would be so much better if everyone wasn't so antagonistic, every is entitled to their opinion, all opinions are valid.
It's so hard trying to make everyone smile when everyone snipes and **** at each other.
Can't we all just get along?3 -

Moonstone is a lovely partner; the first use of her yellow usually nets enough black for Zemo to reduce the cost of all your other abilities by 3 (her yellow infinite included). Still not her best option, but fun and a good partner when it only cost 4 pink to stun 2 people for 3 turns.
I was having a lot of mid/low tier fun with Shuri and Deathlok also; basically nothing cost more than 3AP after their reductions and she fortifies all of his countdowns.

So, is he a gimmick character that won't work well with the AI controlling it?
