So how exactly do I get her on my team with the shards given? I don't see any mechanism to recruit her. Do I need to wait until I get a cover and then apply the shards? Thanks!

Look her up in your roster. You can search by her name, or she should be at the very bottom of your roster with unrecruited characters. Click on her and there should be a button to recruit using shards and pick which cover you want to unlock.

Unfortunately, can't search for her. She doesn't show up in my search (tried Lady, Carol, Octopus). She also isn't at the bottom of my roster for unrecruited characters. Appreciate the assistance, though.

Worth also noting, she may be lurking under a giant blanket of unfilled roster slots.

That was it! She was way, way, way, WAY at the bottom of the unfilled roster slots. Appreciate it!

Thanks for fixing the cover info, but it's still incorrect:

Does this really look like 1960s comic book art? :D
As I have already mentioned few thread pages earlier, TASM #406 was published in 1995.
1963 is the year the series originally started.

Also, cover artist is NOT Angel Medina. As you can see here:

... it's Mark Bagley (penciller) and Larry Mahlstedt (inker)

Hey, guess what -- she's good.

It's about her passive. She does one hit for every tentacle tile on the board at the start of every turn, but also every time she casts a power. Her green is cheap and triggers the passive too! Her other stuff is worth casting just because you get extra damage ticks off of it.

Pair her with any power booster or strike tile guy and you can double dip on those strikes like a million times a turn. I was using boosted Knull (LOL) and she was shredding everything.

Lady Ock/4* Rocket with green supports has very strong turn0 potential... somebody needs to find a third there.

The naming convention (used in the likes in Marvel Unlimited) is the initial publication year of the series, not the year of the specific issue.

Polaris with the AI support on seems like the most likely answer.

"(PASSIVE) Carolyn takes 56 less damage. At the start of her turn and whenever she fires an ability, for each friendly Tentacle tile on the board, hit a random enemy for 28 damage. If there are at least 3 friendly Tentacle tiles on the board, this ability becomes …and More Dangerous!"

I glazed over that phrase, too. Whoops! Multi-hits are very useful, and this is a passive multi-hit? Hubba-hubba :D That cranks up the estimation to 9 ... not going to beat the world on her own, but with the right team ... tiles or power boosts ... yikes!

I swear they sneak something onto every character these days that everyone misses on the first pass (including me!), that totally changes how we evaluate/use them. Those few extra words on her passive completely shift how she plays.

Her passive hits fire AFTER she casts a power, too, which is important. So, if you can get 8 green at start of battle (supports, green is pretty easy), you can cast green once, then her passive triggers for two random hits. Cast it again, then her passive triggers for four random hits. You'll get four random hits again at the start of your turn, or if she casts any other power.

Also she's a technologist, so she works with Deathlok. Too bad Rocket isn't (shouldn't he be?).

He should be but maybe isn't because he's a duo with Groot? They ought to split those 2 up.

I've always called the 4* version Rocket and the 3* version Groot -- feels like the 4* has Rockety powers and the 3* has Grooty ones.

Absolutely ... mostly. The power each is known for anyway. The 3* has 2 Groot power, 1 Rocket power, and the signature, the revive, is Groot. The 4 is the opposite, 2 Rocket powers, 1 Groot. Also, it's supposed to be the teenage, regenerating Groot in the 4* ... Rocket is the junior half of the 3*, Groot the junior half of the 4*. Also, 3* is Team Cap, 4* is neither.

    Neither pair is "technologist" tho.

    5* 1950s Monster of the Month Groot and 5* Super-bleak GotG3 Rocket, let's goooooo :D

    Rockets powers would be

Lylla: yellow: give rocket a motivational burst of health (a la Kamala khan).

This power is only once per match, as Lylla dies after helping rocket

Reef: green: Reef charges the enemy making use of the walrus tusks. Deals damage

This power is only once per match, as Reef dies after helping rocket

Floor: blue: Floor bounces on everyone and stuns the enemy team

This power is only once per match, as Floor dies after helping rocket

Rocket gets a power called " Dog Days Are Done" which makes it all better via dancing.
