Well no as that was some nonsense as well. Just want to know if I should Ascend for 12 covers or stick with the 7 I should get right now.
I feel like the conventional wisdom from even the most conservative hoarders was don’t ascend unless the person has a feeder.
Now I believe it’s simply, don’t ascend because at any point feeders can and will change and you risk missing out.
I am going the max/max route with my 4s and my second X-23 isn’t close to maxed yet, so I should get my 9 covers. That said, even with me benefiting, I still think this is just a bad aspect to this feature- incentivizing folks not to ascend.
The people who would get upset if they went back on this and awarded covers crack me up. That’s some next level spite for something that doesn’t even impact them.
Either way, I’d love to hear more developer input on this as they have to get that this puts a damper on what otherwise should be a universally celebrated feature.

No where in my response did i say anything about not ascending. The choice is up to each individual person whether they want to ascend or not and there’s clearly consequences to doing both. Either you get a stronger version of the character or you hold out hope of potential rewards somewhere down the line. It was stated like that as such. Complain about how bad a system you may think it might be but it was stated as such day 1. Just because you’re having buyers remorse now doesn’t mean you should be rewarded with the rewards you left on the table when you were also able to use a stronger version of the character all that time too. It’s one or the other since they introduced this.

The initial Ascension FAQ stated that retros wouldn't be given for ascended 4s. So the players who read the initial FAQ and took the devs at their word, made their Ascension choices based on whether they were willing to give up the feeder retro rewards in exchange for 5-star rewards and an ascended character.
The players who ascended them immediately got 4x the 5-star rewards (what was it, like 25 LLs and 500 CP per four-star?), then another batch of retro rewards when the rewards were fixed, and now are getting 12 covers of the retro.
How is that fair to the players who believed the devs from day-one?

LOL. All that time. I used her for one event, and I barely used her for that. She's pretty bad I'm afraid.
I shouldn't have done it, and honestly if they said, "Well, we'll give you the 12 covers for the new X-23 if you burn the 5* version completely" I'd probably say yes.
Regardless, if you can't ascend anybody because you may lose out on future rewards, then they can just not finish the system for all I care. I won't be using it.
Ah, but if you ignore all evidence to the contrary and choose to treat MPQ as a single-player, PvE game where nobody else exists or matters, then giving other people rewards has zero impact on you.
I will say, though -- if you actually believed that the devs wouldn't immediately cave on this "policy," that's sorta on you. I ascended everything immediately and I fully expect to get all retro rewards forever, because there was always zero chance they'd stick to their policy once a certain group of players got upset about it.

Since x-23 already had a (fairly) logical feeder, I figured that wouldn't ever change. So I ascended.
On one side I now have an x-23 5 star I'll barely use, and miss out on half an x-23 I'll barely use. I don't know what I consider fair - but I do like my stuff.

I ascended X-23 on 12/11 for "Lost in Time" where she was boosted. This was before they updated the policy with Nico Minoru/Hunter.
I would love to see and hope for another future one time exception for the retro rewards for us who ascended her... fingers-crossed.

Another one time exception would essentially make it a rule to give retro rewards for ascended characters.
That would also anger many who didn't ascend on day 1 and missed out on a lot of extra rewards due to bugs plus missed out on using the ascended characters.

Let me be clear. I don’t think anyone who ascended is entitled to retro rewards for X-23 under the current policy. What I am arguing is that it’s a stupid policy that actively discourages utilizing a feature that I’m sure the devs spent a lot of time on. Again, I agree with everyone who said the devs were clear and a choice was given to players. I just think if a person with a fairly logical feeder already in place isn’t safe, then no one is. And that sucks. I’m not demanding anything or threatening anyone (before the hyperbole gang comes rolling around). In fact having not ascended I’ll actively benefit. I just believe that my “competition” should too. I know the idea of advocating for what I believe is fair to players who invested probably more time and money then me is a crazy concept in this fierce competitive landscape known as MPQ, but I’m still doing it.
No more one time exceptions. Just do away with the rule altogether. This will be the test though. If they don’t go back on this particular character then it would feel like a pretty hard line in the sand. If they do a second one-time exception then it’d be hard to take the policy seriously at all. So really they need to just remove it altogether. If not, then yeah, it’s here to stay folks. Ascend at your own peril.
So much resentment in this thread. That’s the only logical explanation for all the joy people are exhibiting about their fellow players not getting covers.

There shouldn’t be “consequences” for utilizing a marketed game feature. It’s a very strange take that people keep throwing out there.
Having a bad policy on day 1 doesn’t make it a good policy by day 100. The policy of “no retro rewards” is a bad policy and is not a sustainable position. It takes too much money and/or time to build these to tell those that do so they’re out of luck for being in position to use the system designed specifically for them.
Same here , she was at the time for me a way of creating an extra roster slot , I don’t have a use for her but for some reason I had a dupe with 13 covers
It’s disappointing as there are surely a lot of 4*s who don’t have feeders but I guess this 5 will need me to get her covers the old way of using legendary tokens and CP I’m sure I’ll have her covered eventually and hopefully the next 5 will be retro
