    I counted all the spider villains and symbiotes. There really aren't that many more repeats of the same person in Spidey characters. I think Peter Parker has maybe 8 across all tiers. Which is a lot. He may be the most used character.

    But that's 47 characters without the 3 more (Spiderman, Venom, Bagman) at the 1 and 2 star levels.

    A lot of games (I'd venture to say most) games don't have 47 characters in total never mind a game with 47 of essentially variants of 1 character. The game could easily spin off 50 characters into Marvel Spider Quest and have a very vibrant game.

    The 50 characters aren't essentially variants of Peter though. We have 3 versions of magik, I didn't even know who that was before this game. There are 6 Clint Bartons even. Peter Parker is superman or batman level. I would say those 3 are the most worldwide recognized comic book characters. So to have 8 Peter Parkers in a game with 300 plus characters isn't that bad.

    I tried to do a quick count.
    5* tier 88 characters. 15 spiderman related.
    4* tier 145 characters. 26 spiderman.
    3* tier 65 characters. 6 spiderman.
    My numbers may be off but that doesn't feel like oversaturation.

    I don't even think this level of analysis is necessary. This is a Marvel license game. Marvel is spider-man. He's like DC's holy trinity all in one. If you put spider-man in one bucket and every single other thing marvel has ever done in another bucket and then tried to sell the the two buckets separately, it not at all clear to me which bucket would get a higher price. If you are doing a Marvel thing, and if there aren't extrinsic legal concerns like the Sony/Spidey licensing deal, then you need to expect a tinykitty load of spider-man stuff.

    You know, I was going to roster him like I have rostered every other character (multiples even!) over the past 10 years. But, reading the original post I think it’s best that I join this crusade. I have been convinced!

    Honestly while I do intend to roster the character, it does make me consider something.

    I've spoken up before how I build only characters I like or want to build. Well. For those who don't have all the characters or do only want to use select characters. What is everyone's thoughts on there being two focus 3 stars, 4 stars, and 5 stars for each PvE Event. The points would remain the same and so would the rewards. But instead you'd have an extra node for each designed to help people choose which of the 3 star, 4 star, or 5 star you'd want to use. Like say you had a node where one is 5 star Venomsaur and another is Omega Red. You can choose to run just the Omega Red and still get the full rewards.

    I'd be in favour of "use one of these three" instead of a single essential - maybe even with bonus rewards if you use all three.

    I thought we always had Spider-Ham for christmas season .... yummy, juicy, Spider-Ham :D

    Not sure if I read it here or somewhere else, but the stat I remember is that as far as individual hero sales go Spiderman outperforms the next 3-4 heros combined not just in comics, but merchandising as well. I am definitely not surprised to see another variant I've never heard of.

    I think my annoyance is that I don't see many other characters having variants the same way. I view 2*, 3*, 4* Wolverine & OML the same character at different points of the timeline. Same with Steve Rogers, Black Widow or Iron Man. I'm sure others are out there, but off the cuff Peggy Carter and Age of Apocalypse Beast & Magneto are the only other characters that come to mind with actual multiversal varients. Oh, and Throg & Alligator Loki.

    Wait, maybe Spiderman doesn't have that many & I'm annoyed for nothing. I guess that this is at least variant #4? Maybe that since the new devs took over about half of the characters they've released are spiderverse? Ok, I feel better I can at least be annoyed by something!

    He's rostered already anyway, as others have said it only hurts you not to roster everyone. Especially with ascension coming out & giving you access to 5* power & rewards for any character. He'll also help on the web tile Support Gauntlet node at least!

    With that many Spider-variants around, why is Ben Reilly still not in this game? Is the Clone-Saga still a no-go area?
