Chasm Stealth Buff
Pointed out in another thread...it deserves its own. Chasm was updated with no announcement. He now drains 4AP per turn instead of 3.
Is this the balance change they teased? Why on Earth would he need a buff?

Is it possible it pushes Chasm more towards support while buffing Kang, who will still get back the AP?

But the green is now 75% on the low end instead of 90%, surely that extra AP drain won't matter?

Chasm will still do decent damage and now that it drains 4AP it should still keep him hovering at the higher end of his damage potential against most teams. It may slow him down a tad bit more but it does nothing to address his interaction with iHulk and makes it more difficult for most 5* teams that rely on acquiring AP to deal with him.
I suppose it does align with my theory that they see Chasm as key to keeping certain supports in check when they are introduced in PvP but it probably would have been wiser to wait and see how things fell into place instead of acting beforehand considering the character's lack of popularity. Of course, that's just a pet theory of mine but that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

I was hoping there was some other tweak that just wasn't spotted yet to even it out.

Well we're back to draining 3 after the DP.

His AP drain is the thing that makes him the most obnoxious so why on earth they chose that particular aspect to increase I am at a complete loss. I mean he tortured us in so many ways but they chose his spear to the balls method to ramp up so now it is barbed too.
Guess this is a big incentive to pull for Kang before he goes bye bye next week. Get pulling kiddos!!!!!

Chasm’s Black is now back to its original numbers after the data push, while his Green is now code.
Poor guy’s really going through a lot right now. Sending him thoughts and prayers :praying hands emoji:

The most logical explanation I could think up is that effectively they wanted to do a big nerf for chasm, but because everything they do ends backwards, they ended doing a big buff.

If this is the "nerf" it will possibly increase Chasm's usage overall. We've pointed out several problems consistently: his excessive, every-turn passive AP drain, his infinite resurrection ability, his full-team stun at the start of a match and any time he's downed.
He also does too much damage, but if they'd addressed any of the actually-problematic stuff he does, I could have lived with the current damage.
Choosing to BUFF one of the most problematic abilities, while slightly nerfing the least problematic one... is certainly a choice. Remember, these guys nerfed Magik because she was supposedly so good that she'd have broken the game. Why is Chasm special?

This was a partial data update for Chasm that slipped in alongside our Lightning Round fix. The Chasm rebalance is still undergoing testing and what went live for a bit wasn’t the complete picture.

If I’m going to take a leap from what leaked out I suspect if the AP drain is going up to 4 it is also going to change to random color. I sincerely hope this is not what is being considered as history will repeat it self with Chasm 2.0 being similar to Gambit 2.0. I hope my crystal ball is malfunctioning but if the rebalance looks like this we are in for a rough ride.

If there's a rebalance still in the works it would be nice to have heard something about his healing being broken. It's been 3 months since myself and others brought this up and nothing but silence.

maybe they get rid of chasm healing altogether to fix the bug .
