Gambit unannounced buff
Includes:
now-standard health/match damage update
cost reduction on purple
redo of red (damage boost + it now destroys all charged tiles and does damage for each)
additional red passive that charges red/purple tiles every turn.
Plus a sweet new pixel costume!
Keep em coming guys, Gambit now moves from the "unusable at all times" pile into the "good when boosted" pile.

I've seen the new costume but are these updates offical?

There's no announcement so I don't know if it's "official," but his health, match damage and abilities are all changed on my roster.

Well the official announcements are usually posted here LAST so I'd check the reddit for that.

Man, these devs are sneaky with the buffs now. Got me checking characters everyday now.
These buffs really pump up my Gambit/5torm/Ph5Emma team.

For the first time in a long time I feel pretty good about the 5* metagame. These are small updates for the most part -- fix old characters' health and match damage, update power damage and (potentially) tweak costs and effects, but they're tremendously effective. And look at how fast the new developers are churning them out!
It always seemed like it'd be so easy to make these changes, and it was very confusing that they weren't made. Players invented weird justifications-- like power creep, or intentionally designed "meta" characters-- that didn't make sense at all in the greater context of the game.
The game is constructed as a "gotta catch em all," where certain characters are required, nobody ever gets retired, and they make their money selling roster slots, yet the optimal strategy for years was to ignore everyone but the most powerful characters.
Now we're truly headed down a path where the boosted characters will outclass everyone during their featured week, and skipping someone to go "all in" will leave you kneecapped, unable to compete. It's long overdue and great to see!

That red will do crazy damage boosted with a couple of charged tiles.
My 480ish does 20k plus 3k per tile.1 -
Mine is only lvl515. Base damage is 25392 + 3957 per charged tile. The +100 lvl boost roughly doubles power damage, so for 8ap it'll be 50k + 8k/charged tile. That's a max of 130,000 damage for 8ap, and Gambit generates his own AP to feed it.
This is why this stuff is so exciting -- a boosted old random loser like Gambit can basically oneshot a 550 Chasm for 8ap.
That's how the 5* boosts always should have worked!!!

I wonder if there were bad/no tools for doing this in a more trivial “living game” fashion, and now there are? Kinda cool to see.

Looking forward to Loki/Wa5p buffs

So far they seem to be targeting characters who just need number changes (although Banner was a total redo and he turned out pretty great).
I think Loki and Wasp probably need more than just number changes to be good when boosted, but also...like, assuming it's easy for them now, it can't hurt to just update the numbers and see what happens?

looking forward to his next boost week. Glad to see these characters reworked.

Wa5p could be good if call the swarm did more than a basic match’s worth of damage.

I think it's pretty positive.
All 5s should have similar stats: because all are 5s.
Former devs didn't care and just throw in the next character, BCS do cares. After 8 years!
Imo all 5*s should be updated until BRB or including him (okoye, kitty, PX, Thor, etc...)
The fact that they are doing it now unannounced and at steady rhythm means probably they will do it.
I remember a phrase they said: and for what are games like this one if it's not for to make people happy?1 -
Gambit’s red boosted by Ph5Emma is hella strong.

You can probably do some really gross stuff with him and Thor, even though he locks out her red power. Also, his repeater is fortified now so she won't blow it up immediately. If black bolt gets a buff he'll probably be good too. And Hawkeye/Gambit was great before and is probably killer now.
I still don't think he's strong enough to use unboosted, but maybe he's close? It'd depend very much on level.

Gambit riri and she Thor about to be serious
Oh nevermind he still blocks abilities 😞

451 Gambit has
78, 231 health
948 / 843 / 737 match damage
4.2x crit mutiplierPurple: 3 x 7411 damage
Red: 15505 + (2416*10) = 39, 665 damage & convert 1 purple or red tile to charged tile. Damage per ap is 4956.8, which is pretty high.
Black: still blocking allies from firing red or purple0 -
Dang He lost his AP generation on red too with destroyingthe tiles.
But man his r3d packs a punch. Especially with Lady thor
