If you are not creating new 3* characters, could you please stop making us use 3* characters as the center character in pvp? They are pretty much useless now and we have over 100 4* characters that should rotate in pvp instead of 3s. I realize that it's probably for the newer players with growing rosters. Maybe we could have an option to choose which route to go, like we do when we select our SCL. Once you choose 8 or above we get a 4* as the center character. Just a thought.
The continued dilution of the 4* tier, combined with the gigantic iso costs to champ them all, would make 4* only PVP a huge competition gap between older rosters and newer rosters.

Even if newer rosters are playing highly competitively in top alliances in both PVE and PVP and spending on the game, they will have a harder time catching up to the vet rosters that have completed nearly every 4* as a new release and kept up with 5* releases to have a giant network of champ rewards as well.  Plenty of players playing SCL 8 or above have less than half of the 4* champed, with the extreme dilution now some SCL 8 and 9 players have not even collected the entire tier yet.

Old rosters already get a natural advantage, the earlier you started playing the easier it was to collect 4* and 5* and the more champ levels you collected. Now old rosters get an additional gigantic advantage with boosted 5*, which again favors those who had an easier time collecting older characters with less dilution in the tiers.

We don't need another reason for newer rosters to give up on the game because they can't compete and have literally no means to beat dilution to get to a competitive level.
How often are newer rosters competing with old rosters? Surely the old rosters are mostly just competing among themselves. I'm unconvinced that this would put off newer players. It would be an opportunity to try out 4* that they don't already have and rarely play against. As MackDan says, what's the point in having all these characters if we rarely use them?

Also, I suspect the vast majority of SCL 8 & 9 players have less than half the 4* champed. I'm almost eligible for SCL 10 and I only have 36 of the champed. But I see no reason why that should put us off having a more varied PVP.
In current MMR conditions a player with a couple of brand new 5* champs at 450 and only half the 4* tier champed at 270 will match with a vet with all 5* champs ranging 450-470 and all 4* tier 320-370.

Keep in mind that MMR does not take into account boost levels, only base levels, so not only will a large portion of the required 4*s have the potential to be outgunned by 200-300 levels by older rosters with similar MMR, but their few 5*s are also likely to be outgunned by 120-150 levels by older rosters with 5* characters on the boost list each week.  And around 900 pts is when MMR breaks and everybody is fair game to the 550s.

So those smaller rosters who are actually playing PVP for more than just the daily milestone reward or smaller progression rewards, and especially those trying to earn event placement or season rewards, end up being matched up with larger rosters quite frequently.
I can vouch for this MMR theory

Something like 5% of all players have a character lvl450 or above, so yes, I'd expect the top 5% of all players to be matched up with each other.  Players with a couple champion 5* are not "small rosters."

With Meet R&G next week, the entire classic 5* has gone full circle , with the exception of the 13 new 5* characters since the cycle began . Does anyone know where or how these new characters are added, at the end , mixed in next cycle , or a combination of both ? Trying to plan ahead a little , thanks .
It's based on where the cycle was the last time the character was featured as Latest.

For example (removing bosses and extra 5's run for release events), the pattern had First Avenger Cap, Peter Parker Spidey, Knull, Ronan, Scarlet Witch, Green Goblin, and Havok, just last month.

That was Wanda's last turn as a Latest 5, so next time around she would appear as a Classic 5 between Peter Parker Spidey and Green Goblin.

    EXCEPT

We're about to finish the 5th cycle since 5-star Essential nodes were introduced, and while this was true for patterns 2-4 (each time new characters were added to a pre-existing list, which obviously didn't happen the 1st Cycle since it was writing the list for the first time), the 5th Cycle changed the order for a lot of them seemingly at random. So if that happens again, we'll have no idea what the pattern will be.

@MackDan1: Apologies for poorly paraphrasing you.

@Bad: Yes, I agree with much of what you say. Although, on your point about there already being 4* PVP, whilst correct, this only seems to happen when it coincides with TV/film releases or with things like pride month and black history month. Certainly some characters won't get covered by this and it would be nice if it was a little more regular.

@Theghouse: Sure, there will be people with rosters like that. But if they're just focusing on getting a few characters to a very high level, won't they be focusing on the meta ones? In which case, will 4* PVP using the loaner really be a problem? How do people with limited rosters feel about the 4* PVPs we already have? Have there been a lot of complaints about this? I have my doubts that this would really put many people off (but happy to be corrected). Certainly not as much as boosted 5*. But if it does, does it really matter? With players having very different play styles, not every event will please every player.

I think the 8/15 crash preview is wrong. It's not Elektra. It's Rogue.

    @Neko
The 8/12 - 8/19 boost list has six (6) boosted 3 stars and 4 stars. Is this correct or just a typo?
Also, it looks like 3 star Beast is boosted but you have Beast (AOA) in there instead of Beast (Classic).
You're 100% right, definitely Beast (Classic) not (AoA). Fixed in the 8/16 update, sorry! As for the boosted list, it matches with what we got on file so no typos there, just some slight changes in the buff list :).

We just had Webbed Wonders the first week of this month. So, it looks more like a copy and paste error. However, I noticed that BFF is giving Howard the Duck as placement rewards. Currently, we are at 4* characters whose names begin with 'S' for rewards. Is this a first for non-anniversary week? Maybe Webbed Wonders is the first pve testbed to roll out some tweaks or changes?

Thanks for bringing back Best Friends Forever. It feels like a long time since I last played them. BFF = Pick-2 PvP.

Evergreen is another pvp I'm looking to play again. The dev can extend this concept to other colours like Passionate Red, Black Despair, Hopeful Yellow etc.  :D

If you think BFF won’t be 5Witch/Colossus, you might be fooling yourself lol. I also liked that event but it’s literally taking the middle man out of pick-2

BFF will definitely centre around 5Witch/Colossus/Apocalypse. Ghostpool can actually be fun in BFF, especially against Colossus. I remember Ghostpool one-shot my Colossus.  :(

Anyone figured out why Howard the Duck is the placement rewards in pvp? If it's a  copy and paste error, it's quite out of the blue.

    Maybe it's a Howard pvp.

I thought limited characters' pvps happen during Anniversary.

8/22 - 8/27 Webbed Wonder *NEW* - This is Howard the Duck's pve.

8/22 - 8/25 Best Friends Forever *NEW* Placement Rewards: Mister Sinister Shards, Howard the Duck, Black Widow (Grey Suit), Daken (Dark Avengers)

Out of curiosity, I went to see when Howard events was run in the last 3 years, and the months I saw were
    January, March/April (April Fool's) and September/October (Anniversary).

I guess it's to make up for missing out on him this year. At least, players who missed out on him can get him again before Anniversary.

    I went to this page:
    https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Stark_Industries

"After the death of Howard Stark in 1991 at the hands of HYDRA,[5] the company was inherited by his son Tony Stark, with the help of Obadiah Stane, although Stane was appointed interim CEO immediately after Howard's death before his son could officially assume the position of CEO."

I guess Iron Monger.  The word 'OTHER' in the clue is the only word fully capitalised. It could be an acronym or it's signifying other thing. I think some hardcore Ironman fans would know what the clue refers to.

Jarvis looks fine. Usually, they will release two characters for big movie. If we were to fit this clue into Shang Chi movie, who has the best fit?

I find Trevor Slattery probably has the best link.
