    I honestly think the Runaways affiliation is future-proofing. Kinda like the Champions affiliation. Doesn't do a lot, but it's already there in case it can do something in the future (like the Champions 12-days node).

    It's also slightly better promotion for the show. Karolina working with Nico might not have pointed anyone to the show. Karolina working with Runaways characters has MPQ players going "Who are the Runaways?", and might point them towards the show and the new season. It's a tiny thing (especially as the show is over), but still.

    If you're referring to Luke Cage and Iron Fist, their powers explicitly mention the other character from the pair. In contrast, Karolina has a power that could potentially create 9 protect tiles, but can't due to lack of a second partner. Then there's the fact that the two existing Runaways share two active colours, reducing their synergy. So having a third runaway with black and/or red powers would make sense.
