Ok... Might be good. But I never saw anyone in this forum complaining about texture quality... Gonna keep waiting for game developments.

I'm on a Kindle Fire and honestly couldn't care less about high res images. I just want a fix to dilution and a revamped pve with no time slots.

So I know "Immersive mode" just means hiding the back/home/app switch buttons at the bottom, but what is "Sensor Portrait mode"?  A quick Google didn't enlighten me.
I bet that means you can hold the phone upside down and the UI flips

I usually play on a full-size iPad, and the artifacting is pretty noticeable on a lot of the game art on the larger screen. It's purely cosmetic, and not a huge deal, but it will be a nice change of pace if we get higher res/non-lossy texture options.

OMG that would be great. Playing with an iPad in a rotating 360 case, and not being able to charge the iPad while MPQ is playing (since the charge port is on the bottom) has been an irritation many times over my years with MPQ.

That seems like a reasonable guess.  Maybe next they can give us the Steam UI on a 90° rotation?

Might I suggest a right angle charging cable?  I know.. Not entirely pertinent to the forum subject but trying to be helpful.

It's less to do with improving the quality of art assets, and more to do with how art assets were previously being processed by the engine.

The new engine handles art asset management much more efficiently, therefore overall game performance is improved. The ability to add higher quality art assets is just icing on the cake.
But does the new engine require higher cpu usage in order to gain that efficiency?  If it does, then might that slow down older devices, or overheat/drain batteries more than what is currently used?

I'm currently using a Galaxy Tab 3 Pro (need to upgrade soon) that also has the charge port at the bottom. It isn't as large as a full size iPad but I don't find having the cable plugged in while playing all that bad. I have more problems with games like Contest of Champions that need to be played in landscape mode. For that game having the charge cable plugged in is a bit distracting.

I guess it just comes down to individual play style.

Just updated on steam and wow is the game snappy!
Before there was sometimes a little lag when opening things like roster, tokens or nodes but now its instant. Nice one.

    Load times are very fast!
From the few DDQ nodes I played, it seemed to me that the movement speed of tiles, both from matching and falling into place, are slower than before. This could be psychological though!

Hi Everyone. R184 is now available on Steam. Please note that due to the engine changes, Steam players will have to do a full re-download of the game. In addition, Steam players may be unable to launch the game until they download R184, since the launch configuration has also been changed in the new build.

As for iOS, Amazon, and Google Play, those builds will be released once we are able to later today, and I will update this thread title once they go live. Thank you all for your patience!

Load times are insanely fast.  I don't think matches are necessarily slower but they look animated as opposed to stuff just falling.  Certainly makes it look slower.  Maybe there is a slight delay before they actually fall?

Load times are amazingly fast on steam too. I love it!

Since load times and animations are faster and smoother, matched or falling tiles probably just seem slower relative to the new increased speed, but I'll double check with the team to make sure there aren't any unexpected hiccups there.

I've totally been able to do this for practically forever on my Kindle Fire. Both for the charging port issues (easier to play with the charging cable on top) and button issues (too easy to bump the power button and turn off the screen when it's "upside down")

It never occurred to me that other people couldn't do that, so I'm glad it'll be alleviating frustration for others.

Having said that though, games should load in without a loading screen, just simply with low res textures at first and the high res texture will be on-demand downloaded in the background as you play.
This is a pretty great solution, thanks

the smoothing seems to be related to the game playing at 60FPS, if you lock the game back to 30FPS the tiles animations look and feel exactly the same as before.
