theHappyDance's MPQ Player Tools & Resource Compilation

edited April 2017 in MPQ Tips and Guides
Well, I'm back for the Tacos. Originally, this thread was for some neat tools I made, which I'm still including (and will probably keep updating my roster sheet sometimes), but decided to revamp it to include other sheets people have done, some based on mine, some not, as well as links to various other threads that are informative and/or useful. This will be especially important as more and more vets leave the game for greener pastures.

My old post, for anyone interested: http://www.d3pforums.com/viewtopic.php? ... 25#p178902

If anyone has other tools, stat tables, roster sheets, etc.., that they think might be useful, let me know and I'll add them to this post. If I missed anything awesome, it's probably just omission. I don't check the forums as much as I used to, since I've been playing casually. I'm sure there's a bunch of data tables I'm missing here too, so feel free to PM me with links to them.

Now for the the various tools and resources:

1) Personal token trackers, community token tracker, daily and taco rewards
1a) Some tracking data from the official drop rates (I'm no longer maintaining that one since they have it in-game now instead of on the web, so I can't just cut/paste it basically - still useful for comparison though.
2) An easy to use personal roster sheet, that hopefully also provides you with some useful visualization options
3) Stat comparison charts, attached to the roster sheet, to make your life easier icon_e_smilegif
4) Roster sheet update instructions
5) An event tracker, to track your performance from event to event
6) Alliance openings, and season tracking data
7) Roster slot costs, ISO leveling costs, and buyback data

To enter your data on any of the PERSONAL excel sheets (token and roster trackers), you must first select "File->Save a Copy" to make your personal copy before entering your data. Thank you!

- 1 - Personal and community token tracker
The first is pretty straightforward. It's a personal token tracking sheet, based off the community tracking thread, but geared more to allowing you to visualize your own token pulls to get a better sense of what kind of luck you're having:

[IMPORTANT: STEP 1 - Before you start messing with the excel spreadsheets, go to FILE -> MAKE A COPY]
Instructions for the original (my version):
This one looks complex, but actually is quite simple. It evolved over the course of my many months playing MPQ. All you do is enter the CURRENT level of your characters (not cap or max), the number of each color cover in the COLORED columns (not total or needed), and everything else is calculated for you.
If you want to keep track of how much ISO and HP you have, you can put that in the top left, but nothing's calculated off that.
Level par, up top, can be set to any level you want, and various metrics will be calculated off that (e.g. ISO to par, etc..).

I suggest changing the color on any character you don't have to red, to make things clearer. If you have duplicate characters, or are updating your sheet with new characters, just copy any row that's not at the start or the end to make sure you get all the equations and formatting right. Just make sure you have the name, and version right.
On a last note about this roster tool, it may take a few seconds to load, switch between the roster sheet/ comparison tab, or recalculate when you update your data. Be patient icon_e_smilegif.

- 3 - Stat comparison Charts
I added a stat comparison tab to the roster sheet in v2. v3 Now has two comparison sheets. The one labelled "Matched Comparison" is generated automatically from your main roster sheet and tells you all your stats. Because of that, it can't be sorted except by sorting your main roster sheet. On the right, you can compare stats against characters at whatever level you want by setting "Level Par" up top. You can also change the individual levels under the "Comparison" column on the right if you want to for any reason. Just make sure to change it back when you're done.

The second comparison tab, labelled "General Comparison" is a modified version of the old one. All levels need to entered manually on the left, and again can be compared to all characters at a given level on the right by simply setting "Level Par" up top. This one is a little more friendly to mucking around with since it's not generated from your main roster sheet.

Both sheets do similar things, but some people will likely prefer one of the other, depending on what they're trying to compare, or how they prefer to visualize things.

There's an added gotcha here. The comparison chart (and the health calculations) use separate tables to do their calculations. The majority of the those tables are complete, but a few of the characters don't have their data for all levels. If you would like to help improve the completeness of these tools, please update the info on wikia ( http://marvelpuzzlequest.wikia.com/wiki ... Characters ). I will be updating the tables in my template when I see substantial updates to the character pages there (to avoid anyone accidentally mucking things up). For new characters, you will need to wait for that level data to be available if you want to see health or stat comparisons.
- 4 - Roster Sheet Update Instructions (for Original Excel Sheet - some of the newer ones are even simpler)
[NOTE]: The following instructions refer only to my own roster sheet and may no longer apply to alternate roster sheets made by others.
If you haven't updated your roster sheet to v3, you should. The totals data that used to be on the bottom have been moved to the top, so you can sort it by any column, but that's just the start of the changes. I've changed all the underlying equations, and added additional tables to make things even easier for you. You no longer have to worry about star ratings at all when copying characters or adding new ones.

Adding a new character:
1) Add new character to MAX COVERS tab, following naming conventions for that sheet - "Character (Version)" in name field. If you don't follow proper naming conventions, the other sheets won't be able to pull the data from it. Add their star rating and the correct max covers (10 for 2 power heroes, 13 for 3 powers)
2) Add new character to roster sheet by copying any other character line and just replacing CHARACTER and VERSION with new character info
3) Make a duplicate of appropriate stats table template ( * / ** / or *** depending on the new character) and rename tab to match the name field - "Name (Version)"
4) If stats data exists on the MPQ wikia page, copy the table (starting at the first row and ending at at the final cell of the table - see example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_nPDl ... aring) and paste it into the character's stats table. For 4* characters, wikia splits the stats data into two tables since there's a lot of levels to cover, so you need to also copy the second set into the character's stats table (leaving out the table headers from wikia for the second set, of course) where the first set ends.

It's important that the tables are clean and orderly to work right, so make sure there's no extra or split rows when you copy /paste. If there are (i.e. stats for one level on multiple rows or extra blank rows) clean it up so that's no longer the case.
5) Add lines to matched comparison and general comparison tab. Copy any other character line to make a row for the new character. In GENERAL COMPARISON, you'll need to change the CHARACTER and VERSION fields on the row you just copied.

Updating a character's stats table:
See 4) on adding a new character, but if the character's stats table is now complete, click the arrow next to it and say "Hide" so that it isn't cluttering the bottom anymore. Also, send me a PM if you've just completed a character's stats table (i.e. all levels stats data fully complete) so I can lock that character's table data.

These instructions also work well for updating your personal copy, and are probably the easiest way to do it, however if you would like to simple copy your data to the newest version, you can do that as well. In order to do that:
1) Make a copy of the new version
2) Copy all your character rows in the ROSTER, MATCHED COMPARISON, and GENERAL COMPARISON tabs from your old version to the new version.
3) If you're missing a new character as a result (e.g. you overwrote them), just duplicate any character line in those three tabs (INSERT ROW ABOVE/BELOW, COPY ROW, PASTE IN FIRST COLUMN OF NEW ROW), and change CHARACTER and VERSION on ROSTER TEMPLATE and GENERAL COMPARISON tabs to the new character. MATCHED COMPARISON just needs the duplicate row since it's generated dynamically from the roster sheet.

Going forward, most updates will be to add new characters and adding / updating their stat tables. I may make tweaks and changes here and there for added functionality, but the update process should be remain the same. Beyond that, the core functionality of the roster tools is complete.
- 5 - Personal Event Performance Tracker
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
There's three parts to this: one for PvE, one for PvP, and one for Seasons.
Originally, I also had all kinds of wacky stuff calculating things based off time entered, but since the change to sharding, the time you enter doesn't actually matter. Either you are newer/weaker roster and you get placed in an easy bracket, or you're on a later day count/ stronger roster, and you get placed in a death bracket. So I've gotten rid of that stuff to keep it cleaner, and easier to read

You can easily grab the top 10 data for events in one of two ways: a) wait for the final recap (if Demiurge posts it in-game - they don't always, or b) more surefire, do a screencap right at the end of each event of the "top rank" tab and the "your rank tab, and use that to enter the data. If you're on pc, you can just print screen. If you're like the rest of us (i.e. mobile), you can do that on android by pressing the power button + volume down at the same time. I don't know the shortcut to do that on iOS.

Additionally, you can track when you've last played PvE's so you know when you need to play next, when your shields are expiring, and how much time you have until event end (a lot easier than having to constantly check the in-game screens).
Update: 6/2/14: Added a "Refresh Cycle" column, and updated formulas so you can specify the refresh cycle for each event, since they sometimes vary it up. Easiest way to update your sheet is to add a column in the same position (left of "Next Completion") named "Refresh Cycle". Change the formula in H column (for example, if current subevent is on row 23, change J23 from "=H23 + 12/24" to "=H23 + I23/24") and then select the rest of J column going down to the bottom of the sheet, and copy / paste J23 (if that's the cell you edited) down to the rest of the columns. Now you just put the number of hours (e.g. 8, 12, or whatever the current is), and it'll tell you the correct time to play.

Anything with wacky numbers is calculated for you. Additionally, the day of the week the event starts and ends is calculated once you put in the numerical date. This makes it simpler to read so you can more easily remember when they're ending.

    Revision History:
4/06/2015 - Some minor tweaks for easier visualizing. Stat tables have been updated with current data.
7/01/2014 - Updated roster tools for level shift. Waiting on IceIX/Demiurge for updated stats data.
6/27/2014 - Made a Community Edition so other people can maintain it, since I've quit for the time being
6/05/2014 - Roster sheet overhaul. Looks similar, but a ton of changes, new formulas have added / rewritten to make things even easier for the user. Re-did stat comparison chart and added a second version that's generated directly from your roster sheet. This version will make updating your sheets a lot easier going forward (hopefully icon_e_smile.gif )
6/02/2014 - Minor tweak to event tracker. PvE now has a column to specify the refresh timer (in hours) since they sometimes change it up.
5/24/2014 - Roster Sheet update. Now calculates health, and has a stat comparison tab
    5/18/2014 - Added Event Tracker
    5/17/2014 - Initial Release

    Archival of my old post

Well, I'm back for the Tacos. My stuff was out of date (mostly because no one maintained it after I left). The roster sheet has now been updated, and I've added links to some great sheets others have made. I've also tucked things away into spoilers to make the OP much easier to read.

Hey guys, these are just a few things that I've done over the course of the months that I've played this game to help keep it casual (kind of key, especially how recently it's gotten a lot more grindy). Hopefully some of you will find them useful.

    1) A personal token tracker
    2) Some tracking data from the official drop rates (I'm no longer maintaining that one since they have it in-game now instead of on the web, so I can't just cut/paste it basically - still useful for comparison though.
    3) An easy to use personal roster sheet, that hopefully also provides you with some useful visualization options
    4) Stat comparison charts, attached to the roster sheet, to make your life easier :)
    5) Roster sheet update instructions
    6) An event tracker, to track your performance from event to event

I originally made the Roster Template community editable when I quit MPQ, so that it could be maintained by others when new characters were released, or to update stats data, but it seems it wasn't maintained by anyone, so I've replaced the file and locked it down so no one messes it up.

    Adding a new character:

I've taken the original Roster sheet and made some modifications and cleaned it up a bit (down to the essentials).

I've made it to where the stats pull from the Wiki, so no updates to the sheets will need to be done, just the Wiki pages. I also add new characters within a day or so of them being announced.

Those of you who have used the roster in the past and want to try mine out, be aware that the order of colors on the roster is different, so copy the values accordingly. Let me know if there are issues or errors, and I'll do my best to fix them.

I've started using this spreadsheet, and it could use some serious updating (Teamup info, leveling to new, etc.) I'll publish here once I've finished the stats update as best I can
  • Hi, I was also working on a new roster sheet for myself and this is what I came up with.
Maybe it can be of use to someone, giving ideas.

It's currently filled with my roster but I believe it's easy to adjust for anyone.
You just have to fill out the current level and the number of covers/color you have and everything else is calculated (including HP, ISO to level and tile strength).

(P.S.: many thanks to the guys who collected the data and created the previous roster sheets)

Very nice work! I like the dynamic pull from the Wiki (keeps it easier to self-maintain, and encourages more people to update the tables).

I'll admit, I broke it accidentally. Not sure how, but She-Hulk and Wolverine stopped populating... icon_redface.gif Good think I copied it.
(edit) - even after re-coping from your original, Wolverine (Astonishing X-men) and Black Widow (Modern) are not populating on the "Stats" sheet. Level is there, but not Health and dmg per colour. Checking their personal sheets, they are fully populated from the Wiki, so I'm not sure why the Stats one isn't getting the values.

    Couple Questions:
How is the "Team" sheet used? I tried adding everyone, and it breaks the powers. So I think it's meant as a last-chance check on what powers your applying to a fight (limit 3)... the row count is misleading if that's the case.

Is it possible to calculate the "over-buff" values for health and match dmg (like when a toon is flavor of the month and buffed to +30 levels)?

Figured out the not populating issue on "Stats" sheet. Looks like the formula in the E column stopped at row 48 (Storm -Classic). Populating that formula to the bottom corrected my missing values. icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hi, I was also working on a new roster sheet for myself and this is what I came up with.
Maybe it can be of use to someone, giving ideas.

It's currently filled with my roster but I believe it's easy to adjust for anyone.
You just have to fill out the current level and the number of covers/color you have and everything else is calculated (including HP, ISO to level and tile strength).

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

(P.S.: many thanks to the guys who collected the data and created the previous roster sheets)

Seems the sheet is no longerpulling the lookup data from the wiki.

All of the importhtml() formulas return "Import Internal Error". From what I can tell, the Wiki pages are unchanged, and the html source does still contain 2 tables (#2 is still the correct "Levels" data). So I've filed a support ticket with the Google Team to investigate...

When a new character is added:
    - are people copying the master sheet and re-entering all their data again?
    - is there an easy way to edit your copy to add the new character without messing everything up?

See the OP about adding characters. I do that when I get a new one. I just copy a line that sort of matches into the corresponding sheets and change the name, etc.
  • I have looked at all the linked templates and could not see an up to date one so thought I would ask if anyone has one they could link please before I attempt to do it myself! I noticed some data on wiki is not entered with some levels. Is there a formula to it or another way to work out the missing info. I'm mainly after an easy way to track my rosters stats to put together teams. Thanks

    chanz0r,

The one ceasar46 posted has the latest characters, and if not you can add them.

As I posted earlier, there seems to be an issue with the IMPORTHTML() code in that it is no longer dynamically pulling from the wikia. Here's what I've been doing:

    To update the roster:
    1. On the Characters sheet, insert a new row and clone the formulas (copy-paste from an adjacent row). Refer to the character details from the wiki: http://marvelpuzzlequest.wikia.com/wiki
2a. Clone an existing "character sheet" (for example "Ares (Dark Avengers)") and rename it to exactly match the wiki name (example "Luke Cage (Hero For Hire)")
2b. (new) Populate the "Levels" data into the new sheet - you'll have to maintain it manually.
3a. Insert a new row into the Roster sheet and copy the formulas (copy-paste from an adjacent row)
3b. using the drop-down list, select the new character, the rest of the information should auto populate.

Now the "Teams" page should be useable.

One thing I feel is missing from the spreadsheet 'Team' tab is a like a flag or check-box or something to determine who tanks which colors taking into account minor & major boosts.

Take the current story event for example (in my case):
    Punisher: level 43 - boosted to 73 (+30 levels)
Original Black Widow: level 94 - boosted to 134 (+30 levels)

I know that OBW tanks black, blue, and purple - but only from playing a few of the nodes.

I really love PriceCzech's spreadsheet and still use it. Big bummer though since the importhtml change.

I'm not familiar with some of the more advanced formulas and settings, but I think the next step in the spreadsheet is just to list out generic 1*, 2*, 3*, and 4* match values and be able to intelligently match them to characters based on primary, secondary, tertiary colors (and also for their weak colors). They could even account for 1.5x, 90, 40, and 30 level boosts to plan ahead for featured characters.

That's a bit of a chore since a.) The stats for buffed characters seem to be nonexistent (ie after 94 2* data just isn't available that I know of). b.) Even for the values we do have because of hidden decimals it's tricky to figure out exactly when one character overtakes the other.

I'm surprised people don't do that already...it's what I did since I don't like having 10000 different sheets. Well minus intelligently matching them to damage since that's not really possible thanks to screw characters who have different match damage/cover order.

Hi, this is actually what I was trying to do in my version. It's not pulling the data from the wiki on purpose but from my additional sheets (HP calculation, Tile strength) that include generalized data.

For example 2* Thor and Ares have the same hit points, they are both in the same HP category (HP class 5 in my sheet). On the main sheet you just have to enter the character level and HP class and the current HP is automatically pulled by an Index-Match formula from the HP calculation sheet. On the HP calculation sheet there is one column for every character class / HP class (going from 1* class 1 - Hawkeye - to 4* class 7 - Devil Dino) and the rows are marking the levels.

The tile strength for the 3* characters is usually the same (there are exceptions like Ragnarok) in their priority order. I have one column for every character class/tile priority (going from 1* strongest to 4* weakest) and one row/level on the Tile strenght sheet. On the main sheet you just have to enter the priority order for the character and their level and the tile strenght is automatically added via the formula.

    caesar46,

I took a look at your sheet, I like it a lot!
I think I can take a stab and updating PriceCzech's to include boosted damage numbers on the team page by using your (vastly simplified) HP, damage, and hits sheets.

    One question:
How do you determine the "class" of each character? Is it as simple at looking at a new character at min-level and matching it up to an existing one?
