The Dragon War - Beta Test (11/20/18)

Not even sure why this needs testing
Its connection issues (SWW errors and the like) resulting in extra charges. It happens in other events too.2 -
We need beta testing long term and it will take a little while to get the processes and coding and just the right concepts organised. They almost certainly don't have any separate infrastructure to use for customer access and they aren't set up to messily roll out a separate "beta" version of the client.
So they are currrently testing ways of limiting access to certain people and they are also working on the policies about what kinds of events and reward structures and things will be acceptable.
The event chosen and the bug being investigated are EXTREMELY abitrary and not likely to be the real point at all.
My concern is just that, from everyone's complaining, they will stop trying to get beta-testing to the best they can manage with the resources available and just give up. That's bad for ALL of us in the long run.
They are trying and it's REALLY important for the future of the game that it continues.
If they have events that can only show up for some people then they can eventually potentially have _sets_ that only show up for some people (until they become live) and that's when they can start doing things like the BFZ beta-test in a better way.
Would totally separate codebases for the app and servers be cool? Sure. But I don't think the resources will ever be available for that. So "ghost" things that are only visible to some people is about the only other workable possibility.
And just think... If that infrastructure is in place then when cards are as broken as Sphinx's Decree they can just switch it to beta and take it out of the main gameplay pool easily...
So, no, this isn't perfect, but it's still a step.5 -
I rarely agree with @Kinesia but you've got a point here. The actual way the do it is not optimal. The dd beta with no visible reaction and lack of communication about the feedback and the current beta with a coalition event.. Could be better. But the direction is good. This is an important step back from making the full community beta testers, and I hope they'll find a path that works around these issues in the future.2

Lack of communication is the single most infuriating thing ever. (In most parts of life, not just here!)2 -
I signed up for the beta test soon as I received message inbox in the game, 2 weeks ago, I think, and I was not chosen to be part of it.
Did you guys randomly select few players, or based in other criteria?0 -
They stated everyone would be accepted. It appears the event was just 12 hours later than scheduled. It just showed up on my event list and says it starts 5 hours from now.0

Players would not have received an acceptance email, since the team only asked for player UIDs. In this case though, everyone should've been accepted.Gideon said:Brigby none of my coalition received an acceptance email for the beta test. Are they not sending emails or did we not get in. Again lack of communication.Feden said:They stated everyone would be accepted. It appears the event was just 12 hours later than scheduled. Beta not Beta, to be honest I don't really care as I'll play it anyways. The only thing I'd like tho, is not having to play 2 coalition events at the same time. This was the biggest bug for me. :-/0

Is there going to be some kind of feedback form for this, @Brigby? Or should we just submit the feedback through the app0
-
Feedback... Just remember what happened to feedback after zendikar vs eldrazi beta.
Complaints ignored
Praises treated as complaints so nice event modified to become meh

Soooooo... did we learn anything?
Can the devs not just put a score ceiling on each event, so that if someone accidentally does get a bonus charge for hard-to-handle reasons, they can't use it to exceed the max event score? Sure, you could have a player get one more chance than they're supposed to at scoring perfect, but it won't significantly affect other top scorers to share the wealth with one more player.

If you had any feedback you'd like to share with them though, then please feel free to create a thread in either the Events or Suggestions & Feedback sub-forums. Thank you!0
