Have they outright said they time these feeder announcements to have anything at all to do with how many individual players are actually going to be able to use retro-active bonuses or lose them on the vine? That seems like a really strange thing to be concerned about to me.
No, and it wasn't my intention to imply that they did. I'm pretty sure the devs have remained (typically) silent, and most of it is speculation and reasoning from forum users.

But it is the common logic behind doing them slow and spaced out,
I'm of a mind that once these feeders are announced, you get the usual "UGH, my _______ is underleveled, i get nothing from this!" and "UGH, my ________ is 5/5/0 so the first 2 are going to waste! thanks a LOT!!1!" posts from people that think their roster should dictate design decisions (or their personal spend on the game more like), but in like, 2-3 months it's just the basic state of the game that so-and-so feeds such-and-such. So rather than pick at this scab over time, I feel like it would be 100% more desirable to just establish the feeders all at once and move on. I too am hopeful that this new save 100 covers feature will lead to that problem going away.

This would be the most player friendly time for that to happen.

That's why it probably won't happen until Gambit's increased sale price ends. Could be wrong, of course.

Really looking forward to Gambit getting a feeder though since that might mean Thor and more recent fivestars get feeders too eventually. Peter Parker and Daredevil got feeders immediately after going Classic, but Gambit never got one for some strange reason... And neither did the fivestars that came after him until the surprise addition of Hope.

If I am remembering releases correctly, we have seven 5* characters from before Gambit that don't have a feeder and six feeder-less released after Gambit. I'm expecting months to wait for the current meta characters, unfortunately.

Mind you if we got a Gambit feeder, many would think about selling him for the 5* tokens

For what it's worth, I'm glad it's not Wiccan.  Spider-Woman would have been nice.  Now that I finished Surfer, a feeder for BSSM, IM46, or Okoye would let me finish them, Ock would let me add covers, or Gambit would let me re-roster him.  The best case scenario would be one feeder for every 5* who doesn't have one once the new saved cover feature goes live, but I don't see that happening.

Next feeder will probably be Valkyrie -> Thor, going live next week.

I love seeing these wild guesses. Have done them myself on occassion.

The sad truth is that the next feeder is coming when the devs decide it is time, and we will know about it when they announce it.

I personally hope the next announcement of feeders is all of the rest at once, or upping it to 3 at a time, now that they've rolled out the saved cover feature (with a hugely beefy upgrade coming tomorrow).  I don't even care if they are all newer characters just as long as I know which 4* to mark as a BH and focus to finish of the 5*s I want next.

I'd love to see 1 per week, with the corresponding 4* pvp.

    Please.
That is exactly what is required

Whomever the next feeder is, using new characters is a poor PR move given how terrible reality of dilution is now. Being stingy with retro-covers just alienates 4-5 players like myself and just present an impossible goal for new players in 3-4 transition.

Sometimes promoting good will is more important than meaningless gestures of "hey, you'll eventually get there despite how much those casino odds are against you" business plan.

It doesn't matter who it is for new players, they at best have some 4*s that are in the 280 range. tying feeders to new characters doesn't hurt old players, just puts all players in the same bucket. The thing that would make feeders a viable path to champing retro 5*s is multiple sources feeding the same character, otherwise it's just a way to get 1 cover to access the 5e node for most people. Saying that people who have been around a long time are somehow owed a bunch of free 5*s on top of the rewards they've already gotten is an interesting perspective to me. It's cool that the devs are doing it, but it's hardly an entitlement anyone deserves.

Their needs to be a new Godwin's law term for using the "entitlement" argument to dismiss/counter opinions.

@ThaRoadWarrior, I've more than shared for a long time that earning 5s should be earned thru appropriate SCL leveled actual gameplay as the best and fairest solution, but given that devs refuse to implement this, really isn't entitlement that vets (and vets aren't just whales) would wish that their loyalty to game is acknowledged in some way. Sorry that I'm a customer and not just a ftp player that has not invested actual money in this game...time to change my diaper, I guess.

Anniversary isn’t too far away. This would be a perfect opportunity to make this kind of reform.

I believe we’re now in the longest drought since the initial announcement.  It’s too bad they can’t just make a schedule and stick to it.

Which would be more offensive to you:

    1) Vintage 4*s had their rewards changed to 5* feeders but didn't give out retroactive covers (people who had them at those levels just had to be content with the LT they'd already gotten)

    2) Moving forward, all feeders were just new releases so everybody was starting from 0

A new player will have the same chance of getting 5*s in either case, so these two things only mean something to players who would otherwise be "entitled" to free covers.

Biggest gap was between Peggy and Jubilee. 6 week gap.

It's now been 5 weeks since the last feeder (Ant-Man) was announced. Longer than normal (which is usually 4 weeks), but not the longest. We could get a feeder this week, or next (since the next character should be a 5*, doing a feeder next week would let them launch a new 5* with a feeder like they did with Ant-Man and Wasp) and it wouldn't be the longest drought (unless they did it on Friday, the 17th).
