How do you like your AI?

I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)[arNero] said:Discussing about AI smartness, to me, is pointless when the AI just keeps getting infinite cascades with full hand cast while leaving you with loyalty gems to catch up. Even if the AI currently is a little dumb, it's pointless when we get 1 match per turn and they get 10000.
That's a big problem with the discussion. The cascades aren't directly tied to the AI's intelligence (though you can influence cascades slightly through brains it's not heaps). But it totally confuses the discussion... A lot of people have said "AI smarter, Cascades less often" but, yeah, they need to be kept as separate discussions.0 -
I want him Super Smart and Difficult (better than Ixalan version)But this won't work for everybody, including me sometimes and while playing (insert turn-based strategy PC game), when I feel like I'm getting locked-out by the computer, I can open the settings and tone down the difficulty.
I can't say how that could be implemented in MTGPQ but a menu allowing me to choose (Bronze Bob, Silver Sam, Gold Pete, Platinum Greg) on the fly would be great. Maybe even lock it in prior to an event start. I've played against some evil, sinister builds that, no matter how lucky I got with cascades and no matter how drunk Bronze Bob/Silver Sam was, still made me break a sweat...but those scenarios are few and far between hence my vote.

I want him Kind of Smart and Difficult (Current version, but with the use of all 3 abilities)I'm platinum. I'd be fine with the ai being smart and cut throat like ixalan, minus the ridiculous cascades that ixalan Greg was getting. After the cascade with a relic seeker and a lightning runner that killed me from 94 life , it was really hard for me to find the motivation to clear my charges. I think that difficulty settings would be cool, or different difficulty for each tier. I understand that just being in platinum doesn't really say anything about your skill level, but it takes time and experience to reach it . The main area I'm looking at is pve bosses . I'm sure some folks in here know what it feels like to fight a 500 hp boss with a level 23 jace with 2 jank rares and a water courser because you needed a 10th card and it was better than maritime guard . I have a bronze alt that reminds me occasionally2

May as well have the AI be as challenging as possible, otherwise I don't really see the point. We're not playing a game with a less than optimal AI, we're playing a variant of solitaire. In a perfect world, they'd somehow incorporate player vs player matches so that I could play other humans.
As a side question, can someone link something explaining when and how cascades were made more common? I assumed gem color drops were randomized, and have seen absolutely no change in the amount of cascades now versus when I first started during Origins. To those players complaining about increases in cascades, are you sure you're not actually complaining about increases in power level of cards that allow players (and AI) to take advantage of cascades in more effective ways?1 -

I wish there were a way to distinguish what tier you are in. I still think tiered Greg would be better -- we could even give him different names -- Bronze Bob, Silver Sam, Gold Pete and Platinum Greg.
Well -- maybe I'll think of that more after some sleep.0 -
