So with all the changes to Greg, the (sometimes) friendly AI opponent we all face, what version do you all want?

Other (please specify)In all honesty, I think the biggest change that influenced mtgpq gameplay was not AI behavior. I dont know what happened, and if anyone else noticed it, but both AI, and human player now get a lot more cascades, which makes for some very swingy games, where one of the "players" goes nuts with infinite mana, while opponent stumbles on 4 per turn. I think AI was totally fine during Ixalan, but gem generation has to be changed to its previous, more stable version.
Edit: I am in gold.6 -
Other (please specify)The Examiner has explained it above.
I want a good AI. But not one that gets 5000 cascades a turn.2 -
I wan him variable based on Tier or other qualifying thingI want him super smart all the time for me, but if other new or casual players want him to be less smart, I'm OK with that. Bring in a new upper level Diamond mastery tier and have super smart Greg play just at that level.
<edit> I'm in Platinum0 -

Edit: I’m in platinum mastery per request to divulge below.1 -
I wan him variable based on Tier or other qualifying thingI agree with TheExaminer, fix the cascades first. They make games even more luck-based than before, which is discouraging. Also, I do think the AI should actually use Planeswalker's abilities, which currently is kinda funky.

Hi Everyone. I think this is rather intriguing and informative, and I'm certainly curious what the results will be.
If I may request one thing though: would players please post what Color Mastery they're in as well? Thank you!1 -
I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)Platinum here0

I want him Kind of Smart and Difficult (Current version, but with the use of all 3 abilities)Although I voted "kind of smart", I actually think somewhere between "Kind of smart" and "Very smart" is where happiness lies. I'm in platinum. I don't mind the challenge, but I think the "very smart" was fairly brutal against players with small collections or little experience.

I want him Kind of Smart and Difficult (Current version, but with the use of all 3 abilities)Plat. I don't mind tough games. I do mind impossible games and Uber easy games. Seems like a middle ground from the greg of Ixa and the current greg would be a good solution
Ok you got me. I don't mind sometimes Uber easy games0 -
I want him Super Smart and Difficult (better than Ixalan version)(Platinum) In some sense, an ideal would be if the AI could find every optimal play that the best human players can see. We've never been all that close to that point yet. Everything else is some variation on easy mode.

I want him Super Smart and Difficult (better than Ixalan version)I also want it based on tier, but super hard for plat. this includes better card ordering, ability use and such more than matching gems.0

I want him Kind of Smart and Difficult (Current version, but with the use of all 3 abilities)I choosed this option because it seems to be a balance beetween challenge and accessibility.
I think that an harder IA would be more interesting but it would probably mean longer games (in particular with secondaries to complete).
This game is already more time-consuming than a chronatog ... with so many daily nodes, longer games would be a real pain to deal with ...

I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)Guys, turning off the ult is just ridiculous. It's often the core of the game for every player to try to get there, and it should mean the uttermost danger if the AI gathers enough loyalty, which is rare, as it is. Please dont do this. This is not just dumbing down Greg, this is literally taking away all the suspense on our side. If you wanna do this for bronze tier - fine, but platinum is mostly experienced players who can often deal even with this kind of threat.
On discord we had many conversations about Ob using it's ult, and for many, it was a huge thrill to have to fight him while getting constant damage. It was most fun I had with this game in a while, a real challenge. Now, I got to play Koth in TG, he gets enough loyalty early in the game, but chooses to continue just destroying random gems, instead of going for the horror of his ult. That is just wrong.

I would posit that due to the very nature of this imperfect translation of Magic the Gathering (e.g., the removal of strategic choices such as choosing blockers or targeting supports, and the unrestricted/imbalanced mana gains leading to massive, swingy turns) that having an optimal AI would remove the enjoyment of playing for many people and replace it with high levels of frustration that would ultimately result in the game's demise. While I sympathize with the "PQ should be Dark Souls" mentality that some have, I don't think the game is well suited for it.

I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)I dont mind a smart Greg but i hate a lucky gem cascading Greg.
Edit: gold2 -
I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)When I first started paying (pre Oath of the Gatewatch) the AI was really good. It made match fives (actually, it didnt make L matches until later) it used abilities intelligently (ex. wouldnt use Lily 1's first unless you had cards in your hand) and was generally a difficult opponent. I want that back. The Ixalan version was the closest to that, I feel.
I do think tiered difficulty is a good idea if possible, but it may not be as wonderful as many people seem to think.
I am Platinum tier

I want him Very Smart and Difficult (same as Ixalan version)Can we at least have black planeswalkers use their abilities again?0

I wan him variable based on Tier or other qualifying thingPlatinum
I like feeling challenged, so prefer the difficult gregg, but can't imagine having to deal with it like that as a n00b.0
