How much HP do you spend to reach 1100 in PvP?

Don't have a very intimidating roster (highest level is 111 pun and cMags but everyone else 85 or lower) so once I get above 850 I get attacked like crazy. Ended up spending 300 on two 8 hour shields, after breaking the 2nd shield I made a final push to get from 1020 to 1102 with 18 hours left in the event and since I was in first at that point I figured I'd shield for the rest of the event and hope to hold for first. Didn't really need the punpun covers but figured I'd add to my x-force collection just in case he ever gets buffed.
So spent 600 HP total but could've gotten the progression reward after spending only 300.
I was in your exact same boat, missed a yellow falcon due to Easter, so I pushed, I got the 1100 but stayed unshielded as I heared 5/5/3 X-Force is gonna be the prefered build and I'm 4/2/2 with a yellow coming in a couple days. So I stayed unshieled to tank and went from 1108 to 747 over night, then got a 15 point buff at the end for a total of 762 and got 18th place, I got 100HP and lots of ISO so I was happy.0 -

Then, made it past 1500, which turned into the very first time I've ever bought a 24h shield.

Judgement + Psychic Knife + Psy Katana - if I hold off to run all three together then the damage is around 4K and then the damage per single match is around 700 and attack tiles do another 600-700 damage each.
If you're talking purely about whether Punisher or Psylocke is a better match with C. Mags, it's Punisher and it isn't close. Two main reasons for this:
1. Color overlap: Both characters share red/black, but Punisher has a green ability (no overlap with C. Mags) vs Psylockes blue ability (huge overlap with C. Mags). This makes a pretty big difference in 2v2 tournaments when you're only using that duo, since 5 matching relevant colors is a lot more useful than 4.
2. Environmental crits. Punisher does 4 env damage and has a 4x crit multiplier, so if you crit an env match 3, you're going to get (4*3)*4=48 env AP, which is a single tile away from jungle or 2 activations of desert. Psylocke does 3 damage and has a 3.8 mutliplier, so critting an env match 3 would get you (3*3)*3.8= 34.2 AP, which means that you're more than 6 tiles away from doing the same thing. This makes a ridiculously huge difference since getting a jungle activation 2-3 turns earlier snowballs you into a ridiculous lead. Normally this type of stuff is more of a bonus, but when you can force crits with C. Mags, making these env crits becomes the main focus of your strategy on those environments.
I could see team compositions where Punisher might be worse than Psylocke because you need the green for someone else, but in terms of the better pair with C. Mags, Punisher is clearly superior.
If you don't have a max Punisher, but you do a Psylocke, would you use Psylocke?0 -

Something else that I thought of regarding Psylocke+C. Mags is that since Psylocke uses red for her strike tile ability, you aren't going to be able to spam C. Mags red in conjunction with her ability, which means that that's a nonbo. C. mags blue is still okay with Psylocke red, but eh. I think that Psylocke+C. Mags is average. You would use Psylocke red + black with C. Mags blue/purple, and the abilities are all decent but there isn't really much synergy going on with the two characters I think. You can use them and it would be an average team comp, but nothing too spectacular.0 -
You can have Yelena and Bagman as partner of Magneto and that team would still do okay on offense.
Just like in the Falcon tournament you should not use someone with special tiles if they're not your best two characters, you should not feel to use an inferior red power when you have Magneto around. While Magneto can do all kinds of abuse with strike tiles, his red is powerful enough that merely spamming it is usually enough to win because you'll usually get some cascades and put more blue tiles on the board to resume Magnetic FIeld. If you have say 5 blue and 10 red, that's usually enough for Magneto to win a game with 5r, so don't waste 8r on Psychic Knife and just spam away Magnetized Particles instead. It might feel weird to have 2 cheerleaders while Magneto does all the work, but he is that powerful and it's backwards to have anyone get in Magneto's way when he can often single handedly annihilate the opposition by himself.0 -
I get myself to 1100+ then go for a 3 or 8 hour shield depending on how much time is left. My goal is getting high enough to get both personal covers, not really concerned where I land in that range. If I get #1, that's just gravy.0
