How much HP do you spend to reach 1100 in PvP?

  • Typically 75hp. Never more than 225. Plenty possible with 0 just is aggravating sometimes.

This is probably your best chance to hit 1100. With kyip drawing so much aggro AND injecting so many points into the system, scores are skyrocketing right now.

Just need a scary looking team, and a handful of boosters for the last 200 points.

I managed to push to 1.4k with no shields.
    Thanks Kyip!

However due to the fact I did this about 20 hours earlier than I normally did, this means more expense shielding now I've got that score. Oh well.
    I guess I can't be a cheap skate EVERY PvP. icon_rolleyes.gif

Ugh I know...I'm not sure if the kyip golden goose is going to disappear by the 6 hour mark when I normally push, so I jumped on that early, and now I've spent the 300HP on the 24 hour shield...

It's OBVIOUSLY a ploy from the devs to trick us into spending higher amounts of HP!! icon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gificon_e_biggrin.gif

Those devs! They're tricky and sneaky! They know just the right way to milk us out of our well earned HP icon_mrgreen.gif
  • Someone in my bracket right now is above 1700 icon_e_surprised.gif . As for me this is my best showing at just over 1000, I pushed to 900 last night and figured that was good enough for top 10 (I still have no green Punisher covers) so I shielded but misjudged the end time and had to purchase another 24 hour shield icon_e_sad.gif It was a mistake but it let me jump 100 points up to 1k, the problem now is I am staring at that 1100 reward and am so curious to see if I can make it, been grinding with a 100 Hulk (5-2-5) and a 110 BP (3-3-5), I don't want to spend more HP on yet another shield but I am tempted to try and reach that milestone... we shall see what tomorrow brings.

    Kyip?

There is a player named Kyip in Top Gun that is shielded but is still showing up in matchmaking. He's currently at 1700+ (a lot of which came from defensive wins) that everybody just keeps on queuing. I've probably hit him 10 times now. If you can get your score to 1000+, you'll find him if you skip enough. Depending on where you are, he'll likely offer 40+ points per hit. Plus, since everybody is hitting him, you don't get attacked much, even when you have a score of 1400+.
  • This time it was steady go, no shields at all and had no incoming attacks either. Having Falcon as ballast seem to make a huge difference all the way.

Edit: if I knew that Kyip is actually shielded I'd have gone way higher... Next time will take a break to read these fine forums. icon_e_wink.gif I only hit him 2 times didn't think it might be a glitch.
  • I MADE IT! icon_e_biggrin.gif

Considering I don't have a maxed team this was a bit of a struggle. I've edited my initial posting of this thread with an update describing "my strat".

It cost me 225 HP to reach 1100 and then for the sake of my alliance I shielded for another 8 hours. So the total tally was 350 HP although I will get 150 HP back from rewards.

Congrats. Were you following the Top Gun thread? Could have used less shielding with all the crazy point inflation. I only used one and that was after settling on my final score, not during any of the climbing.

Edit: Psy/Pun are redundant kinda. Pun + oBW is the way to go if you don't have Patch/cMags.

I read some of the Top Gun thread, but I wouldn't say "followed", so I don't know what you're referring to?

Patch/C.Mags doesn't intimidate me in the least with this team. I just put OBW/Punisher and then both teams are after the same colours which OBW steals to fuel Judgement/Retribution/Heal.

I agree that they are reduntant! But those were my two first 3* that I had covers for to level above 100.

I like Psy katana better than Molotov as attack tiles get placed instantly. And Psychic Knife does damage AND places another strike tile. It really accelerates the damage output. Judgement + Psychic Knife + Psy Katana - if I hold off to run all three together then the damage is around 4K and then the damage per single match is around 700 and attack tiles do another 600-700 damage each.

When I'm fighting 2* teams on the way up the ladder I use Psylock as it intimidates players with 2* teams to see two 128 level heroes. I see hardly any retaliations from 2* teams.

Oh, your Judgement isn't level 5 yet? I see.

I meant Patch and cMags as the best offensive team (the fastest right now), but oBW + Pun are also good. Whatever floats your boat.

I was referring to the point inflation which was discussed at length in Top Gun's thread, I doubt many people used shields at all during this tourney to hit 1100 and higher - I know I didn't have to. And I didn't run 2 developed 3*s either, mostly pushing with Punisher + oBW.

I made 1100 for the first time ever, using an 85 3/5/5 OBW, a 92 1/3/5 Punisher, 225 HP, a metric ton of refilled health packs, and lots of pulping lvl 25 Venom in Prologue. After getting the Falcon cover, I threw up a 3 hour shield to lock my position at the finish line. Previously, I've never gotten to 900.

I justified it in that I thought the gain from 1/1/1 Falcon to 2/1/1 Falcon was worth it, the two Punisher covers would advance me to a viable 3* character, and I was actually having fun after the Hunt Death March. Once the Simulator started, I felt I had good timing to go from 850 to 1100.

I only figured out last night that I could have saved the health packs I used in Falcon by swapping in the default 23 character and letting mine sit until fully resurrected.

Also, I wanted to go for it now, as I expect PvP will be INSANE next month on tourneys with Nick Fury as the Top 2 bracket prize.

I used the loaned one all the time, with Mags the purple is redundant, tiles are not interesting and really even the yellow hardly makes measurable difference. And the loaner was no problem to use as meat shield.

Though it shows something bad about both the character and the tournament if people are not using their birds gained in that madness.

I'm not too put out about this. My Falcon is 1/1/1, as is what was given to top 20 individual/top 100 alliance players whose 300-point token gave them a 2* character. The loaner Falcon has his best ability, which I think is appropriate. Were this an established 3* character, I'd definitely want my version on the front lines.

Whoo! Made it to 1100! Kyip kyip hooray!

Then, made it past 1500, which turned into the very first time I've ever bought a 24h shield.

Strategy: Find Kyip. Smack the s--- out of Kyip.

Interesting. I'm going for a strike tile generator to pair with my CMags, and since I have no Patch, I thought Punpun would be ideal. However, Psy could be viable, too. What are your thoughts on their relative strike-tile-ness?

If you're talking purely about whether Punisher or Psylocke is a better match with C. Mags, it's Punisher and it isn't close. Two main reasons for this:
    1. Color overlap: Both characters share red/black, but Punisher has a green ability (no overlap with C. Mags) vs Psylockes blue ability (huge overlap with C. Mags). This makes a pretty big difference in 2v2 tournaments when you're only using that duo, since 5 matching relevant colors is a lot more useful than 4.

    2. Environmental crits. Punisher does 4 env damage and has a 4x crit multiplier, so if you crit an env match 3, you're going to get (4*3)*4=48 env AP, which is a single tile away from jungle or 2 activations of desert. Psylocke does 3 damage and has a 3.8 mutliplier, so critting an env match 3 would get you (3*3)*3.8= 34.2 AP, which means that you're more than 6 tiles away from doing the same thing. This makes a ridiculously huge difference since getting a jungle activation 2-3 turns earlier snowballs you into a ridiculous lead. Normally this type of stuff is more of a bonus, but when you can force crits with C. Mags, making these env crits becomes the main focus of your strategy on those environments.

I could see team compositions where Punisher might be worse than Psylocke because you need the green for someone else, but in terms of the better pair with C. Mags, Punisher is clearly superior.
  • I missed out on the yellow falcon cover so I was especially driven to get to 1100. Don't have a very intimidating roster (highest level is 111 pun and cMags but everyone else 85 or lower) so once I get above 850 I get attacked like crazy. Ended up spending 300 on two 8 hour shields, after breaking the 2nd shield I made a final push to get from 1020 to 1102 with 18 hours left in the event and since I was in first at that point I figured I'd shield for the rest of the event and hope to hold for first. Didn't really need the punpun covers but figured I'd add to my x-force collection just in case he ever gets buffed.

So spent 600 HP total but could've gotten the progression reward after spending only 300.
