4* DDQ: Civil War II: Cpt Marvel vs Iron Man

Beat it first try with a 4/2/1 152 Carol. I was lucky with some black 5 matches.
My reward for the token: Carol's black cover.
Guess I can take this current pve event off.

If you look at the stage of 4* in the current game - the new 4* are taking over the top of the rankings. I think Carol is already there (in the right team). Rhulk or Iceman are still going strong but many others become redundant with Peggy, Medusa, Coulson, Cage around.

You're absolutely right, but as a guy who wasn't able to get the old 4* due to not being good enough back then, due to vaulting now, this "power creep" is FAIR. I mean I don't have Iceman, Jean Grey or other old staples, and because of vaulting, I probably never will, or at least not in the near future. So as a 4* inititate what are my options? Well Carol, Peggy, Medusa, Coulson... so these are what I'm focusing on. 

I understand the point you guys are trying to make, but put yourselves in my shoes for 1 minute. I have a lot of uncovered 4*, not a single champed one. My best 4* are (in order) Invisible Women (4-3-4), Peggy (5-3-3), C4rol (4-2-3, waiting for an extra black cover from Strange PvE). 

So why shouldn't C4rol be good ? I mean, yeah she does 11000 damage when you have 5 covers in black, but you cannot compare her to Iceman. He is good overall, while she is good for different strategies alltogether.  She has a CD tile that even fortified can be erased before she deals that damage (especially when used by AI), while Iceman is a constant threat with his stun and punch or his AoE, even used by an AI. 

What I'm trying to say is that they are different heroes with different strategies. Some people have Iceman, and some have Carol. And it's fair. For those who don't have acces to Iceman, Carol can be a good trade off. Or Peggy, or somebody else for that matter.

My level 135 1-4-1 Carol doesn't seem like she can get the job done.  I can see a path, though, with some boosts and a little luck.  If I can hammer down 3 or so blacks.

As for power creep -- a fully-covered Carol on defense makes Red Hulk look like a kitten.....

If the reference is that I'm gloating, I wasn't. It was a friendly challenge to other players not a boast at how awesome I am. I also post about my failures with undercovered crashes (incidentally my favourite ones are undercovered as theyre more...puzzly)

I see your point very clearly and I think you are right. The power creep and the vaulting is supposed to help the late adopters to match up (not catch up) with the veterans. I have a doubt that it will in the longer run but we shall see. 

One of the problems is the boosted rotation. Unless the latest 12 remain a fixture there all the time there will be weeks where your latest will just be destroyed by the old top dogs. For the time being it seems like they are considering it and the pair of latest is boosted for most of the time (it's an eye test - somebody tracking that might correct me).

Won fairly easily with a 3/5/3 lv 184 Carol.  Went after black immediately, got the 5 strike tiles out there and significant damage after it expired.  Smooth sailing after that.

LT gave me a 4th Gwenpool champion cover.

1st try, 4/4/3 lvl. 115.  2 Blacks + 1 Yellow power.  He never got a power off.

to be fair i don't think my 2/4/2 level 127 carol could beat that either

Well after many failed attempts my 2/4/2 now level 134 Carol Won....my boosts are not in good shape

finally got Medusa Purple for my troubles

had I been less stubborn would have at least waited 'til she got the Black Cover from Strange Sights

Champed Carol pretty much trashed poor Tony, might have taken 6 turns
Black, yellow, dead.

I think if you have 3 covers in black this shouldnt be too bad. Deny blue, the cascades it can create... no bueno.

got crushed on my first try- so I thought I would wait until I get the progression cover from PvE

but she won like a champ on second try , not using any boosts. I did spend the iso to get her from Lv 70 to 142 , she's 3-3 1

won first try with L170 3/5/5, setup two Photonic Barrages from 4 black matches and allowing IM to match his red 2 times to gain black for C4orl and IM didn't fire a power off, let the CD resolve while IM and I matching greens, he died in two shots.

Saving the leg token for later use.

First try unboosted with my 2/5/4 level 195. It would have gone really quickly if I had another black cover or 2.
I had a pretty good board and was able to cast black twice relatively early, partially thanks to her passive. I simply denied IM46 his colors after that. He took a chunk of my health out with match damage, but he did not fire a power before my CDs killed him.

Reward was a Bl4de green (just champed him this week).
