IMO, Spiderman is not the sole reason for out of control scaling. Anecdotally, players who used Spiderman to similar extents in prior PvEs see vastly different enemy level scalings. I'm sure he's a factor but I don't think that nerfing Spiderman will suddenly make scaling work as intended.

It wouldn't, but I feel like he's a main factor behind why the devs chose specific design decisions that resulted in the out of control scaling that we saw. If he was nerfed, then I would imagine that the devs are more okay with toning down scaling and such.

Hopefully, you're right, but my feeling is that the devs won't reverse course on scaling. I think it's more likely that after nerfing Spiderman, another character will emerge as the main problem with scaling and they'll be scheduled for a nerf, and so on. But maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

I don't think Spiderman is causing the scaling "problems" but I also think as far as nerfs go there's a line that can be drawn between characters who just win the match as soon as you get three (or fewer!) matches in a color, and those who don't
  • I don't even have 1 blue Spider-Man cover so I probably wasted my time reading this far.

Sorry, that wasn't me. I wasn't at PAX East at all. Nice try though!

Oh wow. Now I feel like a colossal pud. Well, I had a good discussion with several fellows regardless! At least I didn't call him Ice, the only person I recall by name was Will, who I only saw at the booth once. Well darn then - I recall this person (who I assumed was you) asking questions about who we'd like to see, and that he read the forums frequently. My apologies in that regard!

S'alright. If you're talking about who I think you are then that's one of the producers and yes, very knowledgeable about the game.

    Will Interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJP5ChvlLw4

(Stole it from the Facebook group...not sure if the interviewer wanted to give it more publicity, himself...)

Already on it, just an observation. icon_e_smile.gif Edit: And you were faster than I was. Heh.

Whoops, already tried it. So let's see what happens when you try to do what I've already done. How badly can we screw up the threading of the forum? icon_e_smile.gif

Is this the cover we can expect then, you think?

I honestly do wonder how they decide on covers?
    Right now we're using this cover: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/36965/ca ... con_2010_1

We decide on covers from a number of factors, but the main ones are:
      - Mainly we want the character to be front and center on the cover in the costume in question - The cover's title not to be horribly misleading (like Human Torch on an Avengers cover)

Hadn't seen that interview yet. Go Will! Buncha good info there, especially after the 10 minute mark when Chip gets into pure questions.

I heard about it a month ago and it was sold out then. The website really should have reflected that because it didn't mention it at all. icon_evil.gif

Then why use a GSBW cover from Uncanny X-Men or an OBW cover from a different X-Men title? Lack of choices?

I go to Megacon regularly, but it doesn't sell out; they just keep packing us in like sardines until it becomes a logistical nightmare.

I guess it's still better than DragonCon, which starts out as a logistical nightmare.

    Something like that. See: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=909

We used that cover because it identifies her in that costume on the cover without a horribly misleading (or vague) identifying cover. Black Widow (Grey Suit) used to have something similar where her cover was a great shot of her doing a flying kick, but it was emblazoned with Captain America, so it looked like one of his covers instead. Hence the changeup to something more instantly identifiable.

Did they reveal the cover/costume they're giving Lazy Daken? I'd kind of like it to be his dark brown/gold + bandages ninja outfit (from Daken: Dark Wolverine).

Since we're talking about covers, and IceIX has been in this thread at least once already, I'm going to bump my question about the new Daken cover.

Edit: Odd, that cover image doesn't show the third claw. Imagine the third claw there. icon_razz.gif

Nice. I think the third claw one was a variant cover for this issue.
  • So.. you guys didn't take any photos at PAX? With devs or anything?
