  • Boomer,

I'm beginning to think that starting late is not as advantageous as it used to be. The top alliances are probably staggering out their start times so that they don't compete directly against each other.

Sometimes for pvp, i find it easier to just lie low at a number where you'll see fewer attacks then strike near the end for a good finish. If I'm desperate for the ISO though or going for a progression reward, I'll hop on the treadmill and grind away. Otherwise it is an exercise in futility. I had climbed to 800 and saw the HP reward at 900 but then a few of S.H.I.E.L.D guys reminded me that my roster was not quite ready for that.
  • Join at different Times' till you find One that works for you.
  • I have two Shield guys in my bracket. It really hurts seeing them there. I am figuring now take a hit till 8 hours to go and try and climb to around 800 and Shield and make a last stand at getting a top 10 finish. I am still in the 2* range but really want 3 hulk covers and none of the Moonlady. MY plan today is for now to grind on a little boring PVE and earn some quick Iso via lighting rounds.
  • So... Can I join this alliance eventually?
  • The 19th roster spot should be open soon fgtpedu. Keep an eye open for it and We will keep an eye out for your in-game join request. Welcome!
  • Ok,I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks.
  • The roster spot is open. I don't know what time zone you are in but try to apply soon. Our chat is getting invaded by the dregs of MPQ society.

    I've already sent a request.
  • Just an FYI the Devs have said in the next patch that applicants wont be able to spam chat when there is a slot open. Just a side note.
  • Just starting the heroic event. I keep getting bounced from 700 in the pvp down to 550 and fight my way back up. Seems even though I waited to join this event I got a very tough bracket. I really need some Iso so that I have a team to play defence but I don't have anyone high enough.

Theres a couple things working against you. Mainly i think its that there are no other events running, so everyone focuses on this making it harder. Also brackets are a roll of the dice. Waiting often helps in getting an easier bracket, but you could be waiting just long enough with guys who maxed their rosters. It happens.
  • I have work, so l won't be able to hit Savage Land right away. Are you guys grinding these Hunt sub events? If so, how much?
  • Im just clearing them once every time i have the time for it.
  • Hi everybody! icon_e_smile.gif
Was lurking for awhile without registering but now I finally did.
  • Hi Brod! Glad you found your way here.
  • Sorry it took so long. icon_redface.gif
Named my account after my son Brody, if anyone was wondering what was up with that. Shrug. icon_e_smile.gif

Geoff Hansen on Facebook if anyone wants to jump in on reward gifting. I do have some RL friends already playing though so they're not going to waste now. Happy to share with the alliance instead though.
I wish you could pick you to give or not give them to.
  • I had some thoughts based on the recent history on chat. Keep in mind that this isn't directed at anyone. This open letter is just my opinion and nothing official. I welcome comments and debate so we can get something official and hopefully nip any drama in the bud.

Up to now Hubris has been pretty informal and it has been effective since we are doing well. However, as we've grown to 19 members I think we need to add a few (for lack of a better word) rules so we can remain competitive without getting too hardcore. Rockmaw has mentioned that his only requirements have been that members participate in events and on forums/chat. I think this is a good start but we should probably pin down what that means.

    1. Participation in Events
Honestly, I don't think there isn't any reason for finishing a pvp event without having at least around 300pts. Personally, I think 500pts is easy to get regularly if you manage your MMR a little and avoid MMR hell. A friend of mine only started playing recently and has finished the last two pvp events with over 500pts and her team consists of a 77 wolvie and a 61 daken. You should want to hit at least 300 in every pvp event just for the progression reward token and isotopes even if you aren't doing it for the alliance score. Also, except for the recent heroic venom, pvp events seem to be the only way to build a usable 3* character. This is especially the case now that they seem to be changing all of the pve progression rewards to 2* covers except for the last.

That said, of course there are times when you won't put up a good score due to reasons beyond your control. I think we can all understand that. The key here is to communicate and let the rest of us know. Mention something on chat about why you think your score is going to be particularly bad for however long. Ex: you have real life obligations, you don't have a very good roster for the particular event, are currently stuck in MMR hell, etc. There should be no hard feelings since this will eventually happen for all of us.
I don't think we need a minimum threshold for event participation, but I think habitual mooching is like pornography to the U.S. supreme court. We'll know it when we see it. As soon as the ability to track past pvp scores is in place we will have a better idea of how much everyone is contributing regularly and when to chalk it up to an off-day.

If you don't ever plan on scoring high on pvp events because you don't like the pvp in this game, I personally don't think that is a valid reason. You are in an alliance with 18 other people who are doing pvp events and you are collecting the rewards from the pvp events. In the interest of fairness to everyone, maybe being in an alliance that does pvp events is not the right place for you.

    2. Forum/chat participation
To me this means show up every once in a while on the forums or in-game chat and doesn't mean you have to be there all the time. Some people just don't get invested in the social elements of games. BUT, it is good to build a sense of a team/camaraderie and you are less likely to screw over and get screwed over by people with whom you feel acquainted. Otherwise you are just a stranger using the alliance for event rewards. In truth, I only know Petme in real life but I already personally view certain alliance members as more valuable than complete strangers because they are active in forums/chat. The permanence of the forums makes it a good place to discuss strategy so others can benefit if they miss the conversation. Xormar has some gems in here.

I hate having too many rules as much as the next person, but I don't think either of the above is too much to ask. Got any thoughts, better ideas, rotten vegetables for the above? Unfortunately having written all of this out I missed the end of the Hunt sub-event. icon_lol.gif Hopefully, it doesn't impact my final score too much. icon_redface.gif

    Hihi
  • Thanks for that post KR. I really thought it was informative and helpful and helps us have an overall focus as an alliance.

    Welcome Brodinator!

I would say sell Venom. He's never buffed and is only good in one star tourneys. And he gets given out a lot in the standard tokens.

As far as your 2*'s go, my only real suggestion is to go 3/5/5 with him when you get the chance so you can place maximum green on the board with Thunder Strike and then hopefully chain into either Call The Storm or some other green power.

I think your best bet right now is to hoard ISO, since it looks like you are soft capped on a lot of your heroes.

As far as The Hunt goes, I love the buffed characters, but these times are way too close together. I don't feel I'm timing my refreshes well at all because as one subevent ends, another one is winding down on its refresh time. Sometimes, I'm not even sure when the refresh is. And the scaling is no joke either. I'm doing my best, but if any of you have pointers in terms of how to maximize my score, I'd appreciate them.
  • My roster at 36 days played. Looking for suggestions where to concentrate.
