What was your first event?

A rerun of the first event makes me wonder how many posters here have been around since then.

I joined in the middle of The Hunt. Back then I thought Modern Hawkeye was fantastic. His buffed stats combined with the tech environment would let me turn 1 critical tile into 3. I barely used his countdown tiles.

Edit: matching a crit tile to environment returned over 120 points for more tile creation.

    Original Hulk event.

But my roster was so **** I could usually only get through 1 or 2 nodes.

    Got the Hulk cover, though!

The Hunt that released Punisher. I remember looking at the main event, seeing a high level mission, and going "****, my guys are too weak to complete this mission", completely unaware that I was given a loaner level 100 IM40 for maybe 3-4 days. All I remember from that event was skipping half the nodes since they were too hard for my level 50 roster, getting really lucky with 2* Thor pulls from the tokens, and miraculously placing at the end of the event for 2 Punisher covers, despite my mid-tier 2* roster and extremely late start. Turns out rubberbanding was/is a thing.

I think the first Unstable ISO event started two weeks after I started playing? Something like that. Late October.

Like many at the time, my roster was essentially 1 star characters + low-level Thor + low-level Classic Storm + just-off-the-press Captain America.

The really hard missions in the first few days of the PvE were opponents in the 60s. There were tons of complaints on the board at the time by how impossible the missions were. Towards the end of the event, missions got up to the 100s! icon_e_surprised.gificon_e_surprised.gif

The key to winning it was by absolutely abusing pre-nerf C. Storm while throwing the free Team-Up characters at the opponent in order to generate 6 (?) red AP and do massive damage at the same time. Ah, the old days...

That was my first event as well.

Sad thing is... I never realized that there was a loaner IM40. I just saw the level 35-40 grunts on the opening node compared to my level 15s at the time and said NOPE!

    Those were the days...

Man that first event... on the first day I was literally too scared to even go in to the deadly missions. I got over that by the time the second set were available and really kicked myself for not giving them a shot. I miss those days of having to manage health packs and having Storm at her 'best'.

And I was too in to the game play at the time to be bothered with the story. Shortly after this was first run I used an afternoon to go back through the entire prologue just to read everything and I was so stoked when the first event was rerun just so I could read everything. I never comment on those particular threads but I feel horrible for those that want to get the story and are locked out for whatever reason.

Yup. I think I remember gathering up enough courage to attempt the mission with my **** roster, and then facepalming once I realized that the loaner IM40 existed. When I saw that every mission had a standard token, I was jumping for joy because those actually mattered to me since I was leveling my im35. Good times!
  • I remember getting rocked in Red ISO. And then I gave up on it and went back to the prologue and then realized that the missions changed and some were now beatable again!

Heroic Oscorp. Before that hit, I was just about to stop playing, since I thought Events PvP was pretty much just for hardcore people who paid a lot of money for their exotic "Wolverine" and "Weird White-Haired Storm" covers. (I hadn't unlocked the last two chapters of Prologue yet)

Heroic Oscorp eased me into Events, and now, here I am.
  • My first event was the very first event MPQ ever held. I still remember thinking that if you lost even once, you would be eliminated from the tournament. It's silly now to think that, but I was scared the whole time lol.

    Same event as you.

The flip side is I saw the enemies and just ditched the event altogether without realising that there was going to be a loaner Hero. Completely wasted my shot at getting Hulk covers. :/ Sadly, the new Hulk event didn't give away Hulks like they were free.

Same thing here..that was so much fun before they nerfed it and effectively Hawkeye back into uselessness icon_e_sad.gif

I had always thought that I had started a bit late, but this is more or less my experience with Unstable ISO, so I must be about the same vintage.

I've just taken a look through the archives and have uncovered the original Unstable ISO-8 thread:

A fascinating read, man how different was it back then? Grinding matches for TWO points a pop... Some old names in there too, but interesting to see a fair few of S.H.I.E.L.D in there (Me, Polkio, Shamusyeah, Bugpop and your good self)

I was running a decent level Spidey and pre-nerf Ragnarok back then, it almost felt like cheating! You admitted to running Modern Hawkeye in one of your lineups... icon_eek.gif

I'm relatively "young" compared to the old timers here. When I started, the first PvE was the first run of Simulator. I only managed to clear the 2 nodes on the main event page after the lightning rounds gave me enough food to level up my starter 1* characters. Killing Daken on the first node was an impossibility initially. By the time I managed the clear, it was round 4. Even after clearing that, many nodes were locked due to missing the required character.

In the relatively short period of time, things have changed quite a fair bit for me. I'm now having a mid tier deck and have a roster that is 28/29. This round of Simulator, I could actually participate in all nodes and got top 10 in the main bracket. Not that there is any benefit to that compared to top 50. I was actually just aiming to get as many tokens as possible in the subs.

Today is day 52 and I'm just wondering when the game will give me enough OBW covers for me to build that. My OBW is currently at 3/0/2. I've had enough dates with c Storm. Let me go out with Natasha for a change. At least let me have a chance to play her before I go to a 3* deck.

I started just before the first Hulk event.
As the fights were labelled 'deadly' for Hulk event, I focused on pushing through the prologue instead.

The last day of the event, I try a fight with my one star roster, just to see...
... and discover that a buffed Hulk was loaned for a few fights and that a Hulk cover was kindly offered!
I remembered that the first tier progression rewards seemed awesome. icon_e_smile.gif

Then I discovered this forum, and began to understand how things work when the Hunt (featuring Ares I think) started.

But It was for the alliances that I quit lurking and decides to register on the forum. icon_e_wink.gif

Good old days icon_e_smile.gif. I grind like hell for 3h one level for 6 points with classic storm, thor and spidey. Battle plan: After first flamestrike storm triggers tempest, then thor clap and spidey heal. After 3h devs change that level. For the first time I had a feeling that game was changed bcos of me icon_e_smile.gif. In Unstable iso thread I was called a cheater bcos my progression was quite fast. After that event first tries of rubberbanding goes live. Damm.... we had a major impact on this game.
  • I was here at The Beginning.... and the first event was a Venom event

Anybody remember that? My IM35 and Thor totally rocked , back in those days there was a 5/5/5 skill set but something like a gajillion levels per skill; and you had to level up like 5 times before something happened to your character.....
