Very Frustrating: No good queues after 1100

I will try more small shields at 24 hours away before doing the 24-hr shield. It's hard when you have a job with strict hours. I can't always leave every 3 hours to take 10 minute hopping breaks, but I'll see what I can do.0
-
PvP is a pure frustration. I recoomend to go for CPs at 575 pts tier and stop. Trying for more consumes time, nerves and/or HPs cuz after reaching 800 points, you will be defeated at least ten times per hour without a chance to rise.0
-
More or less just repeating what everybody else has said, but you don't need to do anything every 3 hours.
I also have a 420 oml + champed 4's, and my typical pvp is like this:
Get to 600 (my float point) early and just float there until 24 hrs left. Then I do my climb to 900, mostly of randoms, and the closer I get to 1k, the better. Use my first 3hr #, wait, and find a few targets. Hit them, hopefully I am now close to 1.1k, and use a 8hr #. Now I have an 8 hr window to find 2 more targets, and do my last hop before using a 24hr # till the end. That's a 3-8-24 hop to 1.2k.
If I don't care about placement or alliance points, I start earlier, and don't use the 24 shield after hitting 1.2k, and now my hp balance is neutral/positive.
If work is a hindrance, then start with the 8hr after you hit 900+ , that should give you more leeway.0 -
I climb early just to make it to 900. If I don't I probably wouldn't make it. However I don't play slice 4. I play slice 5. Normally near the end of the event, I see maybe 5-10 people above 900 and all are shielded. So it's starving for points. So climbing early makes me top 10 almost til the end and possibly allows me to find targets out of my slice? I don't have many champed 4 stars, so I have to kinda stay top 30 or so to make it to 900. I play a lot because it just goes up and down for me the whole 2-3 days (yeah more iso for me!). I never shield though.
I found that near the end of the season less people play? Yes the hard core players will play to gain points/rank near the end but everyone else has quit because they hit the season progression of 10 heroic packs. Thus there are less points because majority of people stop playing pvp or reduced their pvp playtime like me. I predict that medusa pvp will be very very bare in points.0 -

With 24h left you climb to 830 and drop a THREE hour shield. Then you skip for an hour, hit 3 good qs, then drop an 8 hour, then you skip for an hour, hit 3 good qs and hopefully drop your 24h at 1200+ or 1 match away from it where you can finish up at like the 6h mark or something like that.
I don't know what kind of roster you have that you can hit 3 q's at a time all the way up to 1200, but that sounds like bad advice. 1 is safe, 2 is a risk, 3 is a death wish.0 -

I'm would assume that by good q's he means grills, and if he has 5*'s , 3 is doable. But I agree that it's risky.0 -

Well at least now I know it's not personal to be beat down by the same 3 alliances.
So how much HP is spent on the average to place and how much just to hit 1200?0 -
How much HP is spent...varies enormously dependent on strength of roster.
I would generally climb to somewhere between 1-1.2k before shielding but I have a champed Logan. I know many who go way beyond that though.
I can say one thing conclusively though. If you climb early, there will be less people out, and with a reasonable 4* roster you will get to 1.2k.
Downside, it costs HP. If this is an issue, then you'll have to work on a serious strategy. And keep on building your roster...0 -

Thanks. I hit 900 most of the time without HP, but don't always place or go for 1200. I'm usually done before the last 12 hours. Hawaii Standard Time does have some benefits.0 -
The trouble with the last 8-12 hours is that the zombies appear with serious firepower, climb hard and may well hit multiple times if they find you.
Late climbing is doable with a champed 5*, preferably 2, but without you are kind of asking for trouble. Even hopping in the last few hours can be a risky business - get stuck on a match and you could well get massacred.
Didn't used to be like this, but the removal of cupcakes and move into a 5*-dominated upper echelon has left many entirely at the mercy of RNG to remain competitive. RnG not always fair...0 -
Maybe it's just my slice but all of the queued opponents are worth 4 to 7 points after I pass 925. That's really the end of the event right there with or without shield hopping.0

Good points were available late, but you had to be in a battle chat to know when people were gonna break shield to hop. This event was unique in the sense that in almost every shard, a big chunk of long time battlechat Grillmasters all decided to front run and shield out with 24hrs remaining.
In my Scl8 bracket. The top 5 players all broke 1400 and where shielded out with 24hrs left and none of them hopped again. After top 5, there was a huge log jam of 900 -1k scores and a few people who were still fighting to try for 1200.
Alot of the tactics was driven by an attempt to starve out late climbers and bracket visitors by denying the biggest point ques. Without seeing how the other leaderboards evolved it was a pretty successful tactic on a few fronts.
1. With regard to placement, it worked fairly successfully. Enough bakers withdrew from the last 24hrs to force late climbers to risk extra hops to try and overtake front runners. If you could clear 1400 by the 24hr mark,T5 was a lock and it was easy to defend placement with quick 1 hops vs everyone else needing 3hops to try and level.
2. With regard to lowering scores, only moderately successful. Coordinating lateclimbers could still easily score 1200 with other late climbers but unlike the front runners. They had alot of trouble getting to 1500 because of the zombie herd. In contrast, the front runners didn't see that much zombie pressure because they were climbing when most players hadn't started the event.
Tying this back to the original poster. you choose the right tactic of shield hopping. But you didn't have the information necessary (i.e. everyone's hop schedule, and the fact that the grillers were all trying to shield out early) to make your strategy work.0 -
I got to 900 points and got my 4* cover; that's all I'm after. If there was potential to break into the top 5 I would have kept hopping but that's really just an afterthought. 15 command points isn't worth the effort of coordinating my playtime with other people outside of the game.0

Everyone sets their own goals in life. Everyone is free to decide if T5 and 15 cp are worth coordinating with 5 other similarly rostered players.
Overall, I thought the effort was trivial and it was nice to have encouraging social interactions with players (i.e. people working together and encouraging each other) vs people complaining on the forums about why their scores stalled out.
As a general comment, While I find forum chat and Line chats to be both entertaining and LOL. I've noticed that the LINE conversations are generally much more positive and proactive (i.e. other players tell you what specific actions need to happen to accomplish your goals). Where Forum conversations are generally more opinion vs action based.
I don't mean that to imply that LINE is all sunshine pumpers and forum is all doom and gloomers. But it is very fair to say that LINE conversations are generally about what you need to do NOW vs forum conversations which is really oriented towards discussion (whether or not that discussion is actually doable in the next 30 days)0 -

I'm curious what your roster is like. I was #8 with just Goddess Thor and IM40 and 1-7 was six players with level 450+ five stars and one guy with "only" level 300 five stars. My personal experience is that after 800 points I can't be unshielded more than a few minutes because I'm really good points for someone out there and there is always someone climbing no matter when it is in the event. I did a 1 fight shield hop yesterday with 16 hours left and then did a Story Mode fight and when I got out of the story mode fight I had 200 points in losses that my shield protected me from.
I'm glad that you have a system that works for you and I'm not angry or jealous that I can't score as high as you because I've already said I'm not willing to put in the extra effort to coordinate outside of game. I do think it's bad game design on the developers part though where they've set up a system where there is a massive choke point at 900 points that shuts down most of the player base. I also think it's silly that I now have a strong 4* lineup where I can place top 10 in any story mode event but only the top 5 get the 4* covers. Shield clearance level 8 funnels the majority of the strongest players into one bracket (some will play other clearance levels to try to place better); only the strongest 5 of the strongest players deserve to get 4* covers for placement prizes?0 -
Line is far more about helping people find the best teams/strategies to get where they want to go.
Without it I'd have made some catastrophic errors around rostering/champing, and then the co-ordination of hops is super-useful too.
Forums have a different vibe, people don't know each other as well and are less boundaried around how (much) they criticise. As Phumade says, more opinions, less genuine help.
I played MPQ plenty before installing Line. It means I devote more time to the game but the time is 100+% more enjoyable for me.0 -
From reading these posts, it appears that to get to 900 with my roster (420 oml, 20+ champed 4*s) is relatively trivial and can be done in 0 to 1 hops, any time.
Whereas getting to 1200 requires at least three hops, 24 hours in advance (3/8/24), plus maybe some more mini-hops near the end. So numerous hours, stress, over 500 HP and also probably BC coordination on line.
Not saying that it can't be done, but is certainly a significant amount of work over just parking at 900. I don't think anyone would disagree with me on that aspect.0 -
You can keep saying it can't be done or not worth the "effort" but you'll never know if you never try0
