Can you comic nerds* give me a couple links or comics to search for that will show me why I should be super excited for deadpool? I don't remember him really being around when I was growing up and into comics, so I completely missed whatever made him popular. I'd like to know why so many people are so stoked for him.
*said in the most lovingly way possible. You know you guys are the awesomest0 -
Pretty much he's a goofball. I don't think any of the books were quite seminal in the Marvel Universe, but he has carved out a very loyal following and people do like the red/black color scheme. If you had to start somewhere, Joe Kelly's run is pretty good and there is a small chance your local library will have it. But I wouldn't bet on it. Couple of fun panels.
And he's most famous for breaking the fourth wall (and by breaking I mean demolishing).

My nephew is into Deadpool and a quick bit of research for a birthday present recommend this:
He hasn't let me borrow it yet so no idea if I made a good choice. Any further recommendations would be appreciated.0 -
We finished 98th in Starfall and were actually 100th in the last minute so well done for edging over the line in this one.

I am now convinced Mohio just types in whatever score he wants and forgot to get creative this time, 1200 points exactly I am onto you.
Patch rewards are available from Fly-Fight-Win for those who still need them. Things are starting to get busier for me this week, but I will hopefully be around for the end of this one.0 -
Not really a meme-making guy but...I'll take...ALL the points! (complete with ally whatever her name is's awful stick figure drawing. You all know what it looks like )0

@mytisbrewin / Limee:
Still can't use "Compose Message" / PMs, thanks for taking the time to PM me.
If there's still a slot in XStatIIX, I'd like a shot at it. Sociable is good.0 -
Hm, tried posting, think I might have hit a wrong button or something - didn't see the post show up.
@Limee / mytisbrewin: Thanks for the PM, I still can't use PMs. Yes, I'd be interested in XStatIIX, if there's still an available slot. Sociable is good.0 -
Even tho Deadpool is not one of my favorite Marvel superheroes he is really fun guys, crazy definitely lol! Thats why i'm happy to see him coming to MPQ, actually i was surprised he wasnt here already.
I would recommend everyone to try game Deadpool for PC (probably for consoles too).0 -

If you want to be the coolest uncle ever, the Deadpool Marvel Legends (Series 6) figure was quite a masterpiece, but I wouldn't spend the ~$200 that they go for these days (they originally retailed for $8 or so). They released a recolour recently that you can probably get for cheaper, Marvel Universe Epic Heroes Deadpool, or the Marvel Select Deadpool which should run you ~20 or so at the Forbidden Planet.0 -

Also took a quick look at your team - looks like you'd be well off to level Classic Storm and MN Magneto. They're a pretty deadly team and the closest you have to getting one of the top tier 2* up and running. Actually, you have a surprisingly large amount of fully covered 2*s that have no levels in them at all. Is that intentional or have you just not gotten enough iso?0 -
Yes, I can now PM.
Thanks also for looking over my roster, mohio. I've been playing a couple weeks so don't really know what I'm doing yet.
I bought some HP, but haven't bought Iso-8 yet. Pretty simple to buy more covers with HP (just discard stuff after the fifth cover of that color), but investing Iso-8, probably I'll want a really good idea of what roster I want to work towards, before spending on that. I think it's $100 for a maxed 2*, $300 for a maxed 3*, $900 for a maxed 4*, something like that.
I'm not really *sad* I invested in X-Force 4* Wolverine, but . . . maybe feeding my quest iso-8 into him was not such a good idea. Heh. Even if I can spam "Recovery".
What setup would you recommend for 1* to 3* PvP? Would you level up 1*s if you already had 2*s with full covers? Any heroes you'd get duplicates of? What 4*s would you recommend? (I've read a few guides, but I like other perspectives)
Also . . . is it just me, or do PvE events like this Oscorp one keep scaling up? Like right now I'm seeing level 141s and stuff, and I think it'll go higher. Scary.0 -
Polarity's guide for transitioning from 1* to 3* is invaluable.

The character rankings will give you some idea of who the more useful and powerful heroes are.

Here were some comments I made to Salky/Sale007 about PVEs, scaling and rubberbanding. There is a thing in PVE called scaling which means that the more a node is completed the harder it and other nodes will get. This means if you keep grinding every node early on then you might not be able to do new nodes later and the new nodes will have iso that you need to get as much of as possible. There is also some community scaling (which is based on each individual node so if for example node 2 is completed 1 million times in total then it's enemies will increase by x levels) which means that as everyone else completes the nodes they will again gradually increase in difficulty. This has been much more gradual recently which is good as some of the tournaments when they first introduced it got insanely difficult. Then there is rubberbanding which means that the further behind the leader you are the more points each individual node will be worth to help you catch up. The strength of the rubberband can vary from event to event so this is something you need to bare in mind. It can therefore be beneficial to do nodes later as you will get more points and affect your scaling less because you are not beating the nodes so many times. Some nodes are also worth a lot more points than others so just doing these nodes every so often can help your score without affecting your scaling too much. I trust this is as clear as mud.
I hope some of this helps. If you have any questions more specific to your roster then feel free to ask them in here or in the in game chat.0 -
Thanks much, looking over character ranking thread. Lot to learn.0

OMFingG guys, work has been an absolute pooch-screw lately... I'm sorry I've been such an absentee, I'll do my best to keep abreast *ahem* of events as they transpire.
Ah yes, Deadpool... I've never been a huge Deadpool fan but from time to time I find myself jonesing for some Wade Wilson-esque chuckles. For me (and this isn't true for most, as he's a super popular character these days), he's a lot like Zack Galifianakis... in small doses I can handle him but if exposed to him continually for two hours plus I'd probably tear my eyeholes out. That being said, I agree with the earlier sentiment that Joe Kelly's run is likely the best solo run (particularly the Deadpool #11 issue, which crossed over with Amazing Spider-Man #47 - check out the link for additional info):

My favorite Deadpool (again, as I like him in more measured doses) is likely the Deadpool in Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force run... Remender is a lot like Hickman (and Claremont before him, at least 70s-early 80s Claremont) in that he sets up plot lines that take a long time to build but once they do, it blows your mind. Some of his X-Force plots even run into his Uncanny Avengers run (currently ongoing), so if you read Uncanny X-Force and dig what he does with Apocalypse & family, Uncanny Avengers is one of my favorite current titles and I highly recommend it for fans of a high crazy quotient.
